Nous avons un terrible problème de harcèlement scolaire en Italie. Je voulais travailler là-dessus. M’inspirant du fait divers de 2008, j’ai d’abord écrit un roman, puis j’en ai fait un film. La fantaisie, le rêve et l’imaginaire ont une très grande place dans cette histoire, est-ce quelque chose qui vous caractérise ? Oui, tout à fait. C’est mon deuxième film en tant que réalisateur mais j’ai écrit beaucoup de scénarios, et je me suis rendu compte en écrivant celui-ci que tous mes personnages ont cette faculté d’imagination. Je crois que l’on a tous besoin d’un moyen de s’évader pour arriver à supporter le poids de la réalité. C’est salutaire si on le partage avec d’autres mais ça peut devenir dangereux si on le garde pour soi. Ce qui est paradoxal dans One Kiss, c’est que le personnage de Lorenzo est particulièrement fort. Tout le contraire d’une victime. C’était très important pour moi. Je voulais montrer qu’il est fort, mais qu’il y a quelque chose de plus fort que lui, et qui est la société, le regard que la société porte sur l’homosexualité. Et puis, faisant un film sur le harcèlement, je ne voulais pas d’un personnage-victime justement. Car ce n’est pas parce que l’on s’assume avec courage que l’on est forcément à l’abri. Vous donnez au film une fin alternative montrant que les choses auraient pu se passer autrement. Parce qu’elles le peuvent toujours. Cette deuxième fin montre que tout peut changer en un instant. Le harcèlement commence d’ailleurs souvent sous forme de blague, et puis ça dévie, il suffit d’un rien. Je voulais dire : « Voilà, c’est encore comme cela de nos jours, mais ce n’est pas pour cette raison que ça doit continuer encore et encore ». Et aussi : « vous avez le droit d’être libre, vous avez le droit de ne pas avoir peur ». Le personnage d’Antonio a si peur qu’il n’essaie même pas de savoir ce qu’il ressent vraiment, que d’avoir des sentiments pour un garçon ne fait pas spécialement de lui un gay, qu’il a 16 ans et tout le temps pour tenter des expériences afin de savoir ce qui lui plaît. Il faut du temps pour savoir ce que l’on est et l’assumer. Les adolescents pensent à tort qu’ils sont étiquetés une bonne fois pour toutes. Je voulais montrer combien c’est dangereux. Dans le roman il n’y avait pas le personnage de Blu. Pourquoi l’avoir rajouté dans le film ? En parlant du livre avec des lycéens, beaucoup de filles m’ont dit qu’elles ne s’y retrouvaient pas. Qu’elles aussi subissaient du harcèlement ; si elles ne couchent pas, elles sont considérées comme des nonnes et si elles couchent, comme des putes. J’ai donc rajouté ce personnage et l’histoire des violences qu’elle subit. J’ai rencontré tant de gens qui l’ont été – ou qui le sont – qu’au final je pense que si je ne l’ai pas été c’est tout simplement parce que j’ai eu de la chance. One Kiss, d’Yvan Cotroneo.
