The Australian Thread: Party Twenty-Four

Mika's talked about doing shows in Japan and South Korea in recent interviews, but no mention of Australia :tears:

His London show is at the O2, Shepherds Bush, but I think there will be more overseas fans there than British :naughty:

Do you just do shifts when they offer them to you, or do they guarantee you minimum hours each week?  That sort of job can make it hard to plan the rest of your time.

You can have some of our rain, if you like - it's pretty miserable here, too soggy to let the dogs play on the grass, mud and puddles everywhere else.  The world's weather is just so erratic now.

As an honorary Aussie, I'd like to welcome you to the thread :bye:

The real Aussies are of course too busy with shearing sheep, avoiding spiders and dodging drop bears, but they post here from time to time.

Uuuuuuuhm, hello!!! Sorry to barge in! I'm new here and my wild conspiracy theory of the day is he hasn't come back is because he's traumatised by that one mosquito in 2009(?)

Also nice to meet you fellow Aussies!

If I was to leave Aus, it'd be because of the mozzies, or maybe the sweltering heat. But most likely mosquitos. terrible little creatures.

Mozzies.  I forgot the mozzies.

Happy birthday for last week Tegan!

Hello everyone! :biggrin2:

Looks like the thread has been its lively self since I last visited :bleh:

How is everyone going? How are your doggos Silver? I will always welcome photos!

In my news, we got a new dog a few months ago - Willow, a presumed greyhound cross, probably greyhound cross dingo?

I can now relate to your comments about living with two dogs, Silver, and I regret everything. She is young (1 or 2 years?) and sooo much more energetic than Ambrose. She has a 'too much' gene and doesn't understand that Ambrose is an old man who doesn't want to play with her 24/7. But she is also an adorable cuddle monster and I love her very much. She is convinced that she is a lap dog, depsite having extremely long legs and pointy elbows and ankles.

And then in other news, this thing is growing in me and will also be joining our family in April next year

Willow looks lovely, hope she is not bothering Ambrose too much.  I sympathise  with the wanting to be a lap dog, Indy has it too.  Dogs just seem to be unaware of their own size.

Anyway, photos.  Zen had to have a lump removed, the vet kept saying it was just a fatty lump but we knew it wasn't, and it turned out to be a benign sarcoma.  Here he is post-op and feeling sorry for himself.

Thanks Silver! :biggrin2:

Ambrose and Zen are twins!

Ambrose had surgery to repair a skin tear in the same area. He also has fat lumps everywhere and he has another little shaved patch on his chest where he had a biopsy of one of them.

His hair was shaved over 4 months ago and still hasn't grown back properly! Just a fuzzy undercoat has come back. I guess this is just what he looks like now. Willow had her belly shaved 3 months ago for her desexing and it grew back fully within a month? The hair length difference isn't as dramatic as it is for your doggos though! :wub2:

It's getting bad near where I live, my friends a bit out of town are being evacuated and the smoke is everywhere. Not fun.

It just seems to be getting worse.  Keep safe

Any Aussies around?  The fires are frightening, I'd like to hear that you are all safe.

Hi hunny!!

We're all safe as far as I know. I just spent the weekend with Teegs and Zoe in Sydney.. We went to U2, times 2.

I flew over the NSW fires on my way up, and took a few pics.. Terribly smokey, lots of fires still burning..

But on my way back today it was all calm again on the area I flew over.

How you going?

Meant to reply before :sorry:

Hope you enjoyed U2 (twice).

The fires seem to be affecting the wildlife pretty badly.  It makes you wonder if Australia will gradually get so dry that it will only be inhabitable around the coasts.  Maybe the world governments will get their act together and start taking climate change seriously (unlikely :mf_rosetinted: ).

I sometimes take months to reply. :naughty:

omg :naughty: I've :naughty: missed that :naughty: smiley :naughty:

I got a lot of Bono. :das:  We got to the front row on Saturday night... :das:

We've called it "eye contact" but I think he was looking at my purple hair, and I was looking at his .... :das:

I'll let Teegs tell you about Adam's package. :das:

What fires :das: in my pants

Yeah, but seriously, it's been a mess over here. I've said it before, and I'll say it again  - BRING back back-burning.

Not that they'll listen to me going on yet again about something intelligent that the elders have said and done forever.

Front row at a U2 gig must be pretty amazing.

The fires seem to be getting worse, we've seen lots of pics of Sydney obscured by the smoke/smog.  It must be awful for people with any sort of breathing difficulty.  Praying for rain for you, but it seems unlikely :emot-sad:

Four shows in our neck of the woods and three in Australia. What has the world come to? I can't go to any of them because I won't be able to fly in February :lmfao:

For the last few weeks we have actually become a bit of a Mika household by chance - John started listening to my Mika CDs, we even just went out and bought the new one!
