Durante l'evento si è tenuto il concerto dal titolo Musica e speranza, preceduto da un monologo dell'attore Rocco Tanica. In questo video, le interviste al regista della Serie, Ivan Cotroneo, e allo stesso Rocco Tanica.

"Volevo raccontare ragazzi di talento, che studiano, che hanno passioni e sogni ma senza dipendenze, drammi in famiglia, omicidi alle spalle: con Monica Rametta abbiamo raccontato quella bella gioventù che non passa per la cronaca nera e che solitamente resta in ombra. Anche per questo il successo della serie è stato per me una grande soddisfazione: ringrazio chi ha creduto in questa storia". Ivan Cotroneo torna al Giffoni Film Festival con il cast de La compagnia del Cigno, serie prodotta da Indigo Film in collaborazione con Rai Fiction, ideata e diretta da Cotroneo e interpretata da sette ragazzi selezionati tra i Conservatori d'Italia - Leonardo Mazzarotto, Fotinì Peluso, Emanuele Misuraca, Hildegard De Stefano, Ario Nikolaus Sgroi, Chiara Pia Aurora e Francesco Tozzi - tutti al Giffoni 2019 per incontrare i loro coetanei. La serie ha segnato per loro un punto di svolta nella vita e anche nel loro rapporto con la musica, che però dichiarano non lasceranno mai: "Sarebbe come rinnegare le proprie origini. Tenere i piedi in due scarpe, però, non sarebbe male" dicono i ragazzi, ancora all'oscuro di quel che riserverà loro la seconda stagione, ancora in fase di scrittura.

 

"Non so quando inizieremo le riprese, dipenderà da quanto io e Monica saremo bravi e veloci a scrivere. Chiusa la prima stagione abbiamo immaginato un nuovo scenario in cui far muovere i personaggi, attingendo dalle vite degli interpreti: c'è chi si è trasferito a Milano da una provincia del Sud, chi si è riavvicinato a un particolare strumento, chi è andato all'estero. In questa stagione ci sarà anche questo, con nuovi personaggi, che cercheremo ancora nei Conservatori, e nuovi intrecci, mantenendo l'attenzione per la musica tra pop e classica" dice Cotroneo, che ha lasciato all'oscuro delle novità anche il cast.

 

Già dai tempi di Un bacio il mio desiderio è stato quello di parlare dei ragazzi non con lo sguardo del cinquantenne, ma con il rispetto per quella sofferenza, quell'insoddisfazione tipica dell'adolescenza che quell'età merita e che io ancora ricordo" aggiunge il regista e sceneggiatore, che si può dire innamorato del Festival. "Devo fare una confessione: io scrivo e dirigo film soprattutto per venire a Giffoni. Sono venuto con Un Bacio, per le Masterclass, con Mika. Questo Festival è unico al mondo. Parlare qui di una storia dedicata ai ragazzi dà veramente un senso al tuo lavoro. E poi essere qui dove è stato Truffaut che per me è un esempio di cinema, di un modo di raccontare i ragazzi, è una cosa che mi riempie d'orgoglio. Nella vita voglio continuare a raccontare storie degne di essere presentate qui" aggiunge entusiasta Cotroneo. "I jurors del Festival sono come La compagnia del Cigno: per il cast oggi sarà come guardarsi in uno specchio incontrando i ragazzi del Giffoni, che come loro inseguono non un sogno di successo, ma un sogno di espressione. E tutti loro hanno dignità di essere ascoltati e raccontati. Anche il Festival fa questo: rende protagonisti chi in genere non viene considerato".

Not a regular concert, but a sort of street performance. They play and sing Origin of love in a big square, collecting money from people passing by.

Sono sette come le note e, come le note, da soli, non fanno una musica, ma insieme compongono una melodiosa armonia. Sono i ragazzi de "La Compa-gnia del Cigno", la fiction scritta e diretta da Ivan Cotroneo, che firma i soggetti e le sceneggiature con Moni-ca Rametta, in onda su Rai2 da mercoledì 29 aprile. Matteo, Barbara, Domenico, Sara, Robbo, Sofia e Rosario sono sette ragazzi, tra i 15 e i 18 anni, diversi tra loro per tempe-ramento, estrazione sociale e provenienza. Tutti frequen-tano il conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano e suonano strumenti differenti nell'orchestra diretta dal maestro Luca Marioni, soprannominato "il bastardo" per i suoi metodi duri e inflessibili, che da loro pretende il massimo perché, come spesso ripete, non ama allevare cavalli zoppi. I protagonisti devono misurarsi con le difficoltà della vita, con le famiglie, con le regole e la disciplina imposte dalla prestigiosa scuo-la. All'inizio ognuno di loro è solo, concentrato a coltivare un'ambizione che sembra soprattutto individuale. Poi però, con l'arrivo a metà anno scolastico di Matteo, un ragazzo proveniente dalla terremotata Amatrice, le cose cambiano. Sarà infatti il maestro Marioni a costringerli a esercitarsi insieme per dare supporto al nuovo arrivato. La vicinanza e l'affetto che i giovani musicisti iniziano a sperimentare nello stare insieme li porterà a stringere un patto d'amici-zia che si chiama "Compagnia del Cigno", in onore del Cigno di Busseto Giuseppe Verdi, e a trovare nel confronto con gli altri, nella condivisione di gioie e dolori, la forza per superare le prove più dure della vita e della loro adolescen-za. Intorno ai sette giovani si muovono le loro famiglie e, soprattutto, i loro maestri, primo fra tutti lo stesso Marioni, con la sua tragica storia personale. Musica e amicizia sono i due perni di questa serie che racconta una generazione, quella degli adolescenti di oggi, troppo spesso incompre-sa e descritta come indolente e priva di passioni. I prota-gonisti sono invece determinati e appassionati, fragili ma pronti a giocare le loro carte fino in fondo. Soprattutto so-no ragazzi che scoprono l'importanza della condivisione, della partecipazione, del confronto. La fiction insegna che i maestri, i punti di riferimento, le guide, sono indispensabili per poter crescere, cambiare, guardare in faccia la realtà, affrontare problemi e dolori, anche quando il rapporto con loro è estremamente conflittuale, come quello tra i ragazzi e il loro maestro Marioni. Un racconto contemporaneo che si sviluppa in una città, Milano, che per la prima volta vie-ne utilizzata come sfondo di una serie tv. Luoghi, cultura e valori ambrosiani sono componenti essenziali della fiction e, come la fiction, dimostrano che è possibile coniugare sto- ria e tradizione con la modernità. Dietro al successo della serie, tra le più viste del 2019, c’è Ivan Cotroneo, regista, autore e sceneggiatore (assieme a Monica Rametta).

 

«Per scrivere la seconda stagione siamo partiti dall’amicizia dei sette ragazzi, ai quali se ne aggiungeranno altri, tutti musicisti veri. Ci siamo chiesti se questi rapporti, iniziati da piccoli, resistano nel tempo, quando devi competere per un lavoro o una borsa di studio. La messa alla prova di questo legame è diventato il tema della seconda stagione e si riflette anche nelle storie degli adulti».

 

Come sono andate le riprese?

 

«Abbiamo girato da luglio a ottobre a Milano, seguendo scrupolosamente i protocolli anti-Covid: controlli continui, distanze di sicurezza, tamponi prima delle scene di intimità e numero limitato di comparse sul set. Ma avevamo molta voglia di lavorare ed eravamo tutti super responsabili».

 

Ci sono stati momenti difficili?

 

«Tutto quello che non si vede nelle scene è stato complicato: dietro le quinte eravamo tutti bardati con visiere, coperture e addirittura tute e camici per chi era più a contatto con gli attori. Sono stati giorni faticosi, caldissimi, ma non li abbiamo sentiti come tali per il desiderio di normalità che si esprimeva anche nella testardaggine di lavorare nonostante la fatica».

 

Come ha fatto per le scene dei concerti?

 

«Dove si vedono delle comparse attive, sono tutte “tamponate”, ma sono in numero limitato. Nella platea dei concerti con 700 posti ci piaceva che la sala fosse piena e abbiamo usato degli effetti speciali. Più avanti si vedrà un concerto di Mika, ma è stato girato prima di iniziare le riprese e della pandemia, a fine gennaio del 2020. È un vero concerto fatto in Italia, con persone reali».

 

Ci sarà una terza stagione?

 

«Noi per scaramanzia non ci abbiamo ancora pensato, ma è una storia corale e io e Monica riteniamo che quello della musica classica sia un mondo meraviglioso con ancora tante storie da raccontare».

Nuovo capitolo per il teleromanzo di formazione di Ivan Cotroneo (scritto con Monica Rametta e prodotto da Indigo con Raifiction) a due anni dalla prima stagione.

 

«Lì — spiega Cotroneo — abbiamo raccontato la nascita dell’amicizia tra i ragazzi. Li ritroviamo alle soglie della maturità e dell’ingresso nel mondo accademico del conservatorio. La competizione si fa più serrata, le relazioni sentimentali più impegnative, le strade potrebbero anche divergere».

 

Per dirla con Marioni:

«Cercate di restare amici, è la più grande battaglia che dovete combattere».

La vita bussa e fa pure male. Lo sanno bene gli adulti del gruppo: Marini/Boni, sua moglie Irene Valeri (Anna Valle), e l’ultimo arrivato, l’ex allievo diventato grande direttore d’orchestra Teoman Kayà (Mehmet Gunsur). Certe amicizie, come gli amori, non finiscono. Fanno giri immensi e poi ritornano. E riaprono vecchie ferite. La narrazione tocca corde inaspettate. Non ho mai avuto un gruppo così coeso, mi sono resa conto quest’anno, con la pandemia, quanto sia importante poter contare su amici solidi. Così come ho riscoperto il potere della musica. Sono un po’ la pecora nera del gruppo, non ho fatto il conservatorio ma fin da piccola ho studiato pianoforte. Suonare mi ha fatto star bene». Le note sono state un collante.

 

«L’incursione nella recitazione non li ha distratti dalla musica», assicura Cotroneo.

Leonardo Mazzarotto, romano, classe 1998, dopo la laurea triennale in violino al Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, ora studia per la magistrale.

 

«Il rapporto con la musica è imprescindibile, ma lascia spazio anche per altre cose. Sto facendo provini. E oggi (ieri, ndr) esce In ascolto, raccolta di pensieri e poesie per La Nave di Teseo».

Stesso percorso di studi, stessa casa editrice per Hildegard De Stefano, milanese, 23 anni per il suo Diario Musicale, accompagnato da un album di registrazioni.

«Tutto mi riporta alla musica. Noi siamo stati fortunati, in questo periodo in cui tutto era fermo con la scelta dello streaming, lontano dalla sua dimensione naturale. Abbiamo girato scene di concerti mentre il settore era fermo. Un auspicio». Bloccate nel febbraio scorso dall’emergenza sanitaria, le riprese sono ripartite in estate.

 

«I protocolli ci hanno fatto lavorare in sicurezza— precisa Cotroneo —. Vedremo classi piene e concerti affollati. Grazie ad accorgimenti scenografici ed effetti speciali. L’augurio è che lo spettacolo dal vivo torni a essere una realtà».
