Abbiamo incontrato un Mika in gran forma, reduce dall'aver presentato il suo nuovo singolo "Ice Cream" all'Arena di Verona. La canzone anticipa il suo prossimo album "My name is Michael Holbrook" che arriva il 4 ottobre a distanza di quattro anni dall'ultimo e a 13 anni dal primo. «Ho voluto scrivere un album che avesse quella grinta, quella gioia che brucia con i colori forti, con quella sensazione forte di non chiedere permesso prima di fare qualcosa, di non pensare alle conseguenze o a quello che pensa la gente. Questo è un atteggiamento molto pop, profondamente pop. È l'atteggiamento che ho potuto avere sul mio primo album "Life in Cartoon Motion". Stranamente, ho dovuto liberarmi di Mika, quindi chiamare l'album "My name is Michael Holbrook", che è il mio vero nome, è stata una liberazione che mi ha fatto tornare il ragazzo che ero tredici anni fa» ci ha raccontato Mika. Che poi ha proseguito: «Ho scritto l'album a casa mia in America e poi sono stato in una piccola casa in Italia per qualche settimana dove ho costruito un piccolo studio e l'ho completato. Ho portato l'album a casa, ho chiuso la porta sul mondo e ho ritrovato me stesso». E sul rapporto che ha con il nostro Paese ha detto: «Il mio rapporto con l'Italia è sempre stata una cosa molto molto bella, devo dire che non mi aspettavo questo. A novembre inizia il tour in Italia, 12 date da nord a sud. Anche se andremo in Asia, in Giappone, in America... per l'Italia c'è uno spazio speciale nel mio cuore».
