It seems so sweet... It reminds me "Ordinary Man". I will have to listen it on the album for be sure to tell how I like it. (But I like it, this little bit is really sweet)

I told myself "No, I'll not listen to the new songs before the album. I want it to be a surprise"

I'm weak. 😶

A first try at the lyrics - corrections and additions are welcome. :teehee:

Blue is a feminine colour

Blue is deep and bold

Blue is like no other

as secret as it's old

Blue like the ocean's heart (...)

But you're blue (...)

Blue for your sons not your daughters

Blue not for pleasure but pain

Obvious to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

I don't trust the rainbows

that are made by the sun

For a friend of many

is a friend of none

Come out of nowhere

but quit to end

like any other

farewell a friend

Obvious to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

Green is pretty as for two

but not as deep and dark as blue

Red like the flame that burns in you

but the hottest part of it is blue

Yellow beams its joy for (…)

(...)

(…) looks cruel to you

your faithful friend, your truth for blue

Obvious to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

I love the melody, it's more a work of art, more like a poem, than a catchy song - definitely not mainstream, definitely unique, and I agree it reminds me of Ordinary Man - which I also love. It's a song I can't always listen to, not something that you can just hear while doing something else - but some of my most favourite songs ever are the same (for example my all-time-favourite "Music" by John Miles), that's what makes them so special. :wub2:

Last year, Mika shared a recommendation on Twitter, for a stand-up on Netflix. I watched it and a part of it was so inspiring to me that I made it a section of my degree thesis. Because of that, it really stuck with me and in November, when we heard the first snippet of Blue, I immediately thought that he could have taken inspiration from that as well. So, after reading this part of the lyrics "Red like the flame that burns in you but the hottest part of it is blue" my feeling (and happiness!) grew stronger and I went back to the thread of the Vanity Fair event to find what I wrote about it. I really wanted to share it here with you all, now that Blue is officially on the album and is touching me so much:

The topic reminded me of Hannah Gadsby's stand-up - the one Mika recommended on Twitter some time ago - where she talks about blue, and how it is socially considered "masculine" and "rational" and how she feels it's a feminine color instead, full of contradictions for its nature: it belongs to the cold side, but actually the warmest part of the flame is blue.

I will always love the blue in you

I don't trust the rainbows

but not as deep and dark as blue

Red like the flame that burns in you

but the hottest part of it is blue

Yellow beams its joy (for part)

(but at its lane it is sad)

(…Violet) looks cruel to you

your faithful friend, your truth for blue

Obvious to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

I did a little editing, but I'm not 100% sure..

Remember Mika sang a tiny bit of the song at the Vanity Fair Stories way way back on November 24, 2018 in Milan!

I was looking on lyric genius for Tomorrow lyrics (very frustrating finding the right words he's singing, see more in thread) and here is what it says so far for Blue for credits:

Written by: Mika, Dorothy Allison, and Alex Smith

No lyrics up there yet, I think that someone is posting official lyrics when songs are being released. Maybe keep an eye out if it's bugging you like the lyrics for Tomorrow were bugging me. :aah:

There are a very few words that I'm still not quite sure of here, but this is 99% of this beautiful song.

Blue is a feminine color

Blue is deep and bold

Blue is like no other

as sacred as it's old

Blue like the ocean's water

But your blue when it falls as the rain

Blue for your sons not your daughters

Blue not for pleasure but pain

All this to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

I don't trust rainbows

Made by the sun

For a friend of many

is a friend of none

Coming out of nowhere

but quick to end

like any other

fair-weather friend

All this to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

Green is prettiest for two

but not as deep and dark as blue

Red like the flame that burns in you

but the hottest part of it is blue

Yellow beams its joyful power

But bite a lemon it tastes sour

Why are humans cruel to you

your faithful friend, your truthful blue

All this to say that it's okay

no matter what life throws at you

I'll always love the blue in you

What A Beautiful Song, So... I Have no words to describe it properly, maybe heavenly?  I Listen to this and it makes me fly in my mind to some other place, magical, a bit sad...

Blue was Always one of my favorite colors. It's so nice to hear a song like that from my favorite artist! He describes perfectly that interesting color: like the song itself, Blue is sad but always peaceful and makes you feel safe, like this song  and the lyrics! It's magical

Gotta love Mika's voice in this song (like any others)

Perfection

I have to admit that the first time I listened to Blue, it kinda bored me.

But now it's one of my favourites. I need it especially when I get stressed out, it manages to soothe me. I like both the lyrics and his voice, particularly the way he sings "I will always love the blue in you"... I'm always in heaven :cloud:

I really hope to listen to this song live!

Blue is one of my favorite song. Idk why, I love the lyrics, his soft voice... :wub2: Mellody, everything. Couple of fans doesn't like so much but you can listen this song when you are calm.

Blue like the ocean's water

but you're blue when it falls as rain :swoon:

Red like the flame that burns in you

but the hottest part of it is blue

no matter what life throws at you

I will always love the blue in you

I honestly also don't understand why some don't like this song or his voice in the song. I actually quite like it. It's so beautiful and touching. It gives me a lot of feelings at the same time.

I reminds me "over my shoulder" same style, slow etc.

His voice is so good in the song.

I had the same thought, probably because it's so slow. Just that OMS is one of my least fave Mika songs, and Blue is one of my faves. :teehee:

I dont like it and I barely listen it. if something gives to me it is sadness and I find it boring. It doesn't excite me. :emot-sad:

Well, I also didn't care about that song much, but as I had the chance to hear him singing it live in couldn't believe why I didn't like it before. His voice is amazing when he sings OMS.

And so I would enjoy hearing Blue live in a gig. But as I can't go to any of them... that's just a dream for now. :aah:

That happened to me for Make You Happy - I don't like it at all on the album, but the (symphonic) live version was just really good. But with OMS - nope, not even hearing it live helped me liking it more. :dunno:
