Après des années loin des studios, Mika revient enfin avec un nouvel album très intime baptisé My name is Michael Holbrook. Un album qui s'est fait attendre puisque le chanteur n'avait pas enregistré depuis quatre ans. Son dernier opus Non Place in Heaven remonte à 2015. Ces dernières années, le chanteur a passé la plupart de son temps sur scène ou sur les plateaux de télévision, notamment en tant que coach dans The Voice. A l'occasion de la sortie de ce nouvel album, les équipes de 50' Inside l'ont suivi jusqu'au Mexique où Mika vient d'y entamer une tournée promotionnelle. Ce dernier en a profité pour expliquer pourquoi il avait mis tant de temps avant de sortir un nouveau disque. "J'ai mis du temps pour faire cet album parce que, pendant un moment, je ne voulais pas écrire. J'étais à la télé, je m'amusais. Je faisais plein de tournées, mais je ne voulais pas écrire. Je chantais différement, je bougeais différemment sur la scène... Ce n'était pas libre. Je peux dire maintenant sans avoir honte que je m'aimais moins. Je m'aimais beaucoup moins," a ainsi confié le chanteur. Mais il a fini par se réconcilier avec lui-même et a fini par retrouver l'inspiration.
