This was a magical concert! I was so excited when Mika came into the crowd for "Big Girls." My husband and I have been following Mika for five years and we flew from the US to see him (we bought tickets before he announced the Tiny Love Tiny Tour, but didn't regret the excuse to visit London). I just wanted to say thank you to those of you who provided the paper hearts and "We've Missed You" signs. It was so fun to see the look on Mika's face when he saw the signs and the hearts and I love having those mementos of our experience. 💙

The first date of the Revelation Tour was spectacular and went far beyond my expectations.

I really liked the mix of new and old songs that he repeats on time, because they have now become a classic of his repertoire. His voice was perfect, both on the high notes and on the low notes, and the agreement with the band was incredible. 

Max and Mika have now become one and it is impossible for me to imagine a concert without him, I love them together and we want to talk about the new drummer?

Months ago I regretted not seeing Joy again on stage, but after seeing Wouter several times, I'm happy with this change!

Mika at the exit was wonderful to us. He greeted us, thanked us, signed autographs, despite the tiredness and having to preserve the voice for the upcoming dates. ❤

Shepherds Bush Empire was completely dazzled by Mika’s sold-out stunner of a rainbow-themed show. 

 

After an almost four-year wait for his dedicated fans, pop-legend Mika takes to the Empire’s stage with an exuberance and energy that is impossible to resist and spends the next two hours leaving no shadow of a doubt that he still has it in spades. The night is rainbow colour-themed, packed full of material from latest album My Name Is Michael Holbrook and older tracks Lollipop, We Are Golden and Relax, Take It Easy, punctuated by poetic explanations for the various colours backlighting the songs (green for jealousy, pink for lust, etc).

 

He takes time out to tell a tale of unrequited love in Shepherds Bush (whilst lying on the floor), wave at his mum, reference that he’s wearing his nan’s shirt, and stand with his hand on his heart when the theatre suddenly fills with “We’ve missed you” signs. Otherwise, he is a blur of high kicks, jumps and enviable dance moves, all whilst note perfect, before diving into the crowd for a walkabout. There’s even a live debut of the Prince-influenced Platform Ballerinas. Any tears shed during the very moving Happy Ending are immediately banished by an effervescent Love Today, followed by a high energy encore featuring Grace Kelly. No surprise that by the end he has completely lost his voice. It’s pop at it’s very best.

I think we will do the same fan action with hearts for the last concert of the European part of "Revelation Tour" in Strasbourg. It can be a nice reference: the starting and the ending gig.

I didn’t get very many pictures of the actual show as I was up in the heavens but for my english work we had to write a descriptive piece of an event so I thought I’d share that. It kind of gives you a feel for the night I think:

 

‘A tall figure bounded onto the stage. He moved towards the microphone before bursting into a melody. He danced gracefully around the stage still singing along with his band who played in the background. Joyful screams accompanied his every word and hands reached out desperately trying to catch him. He would walk on and off stage, coming back out in even more extravagant outfits (Namely his grandmother’s blouse 😂). A smile stayed plastered to my face throughout all of this. It felt as if I had gone to heaven and dreaded when I’d have to descend back to normal life again. At random intervals he would plunge into the sea of people below him and disappear for long moments before resurfacing at the opposite side. The people in the sea moved in waves up and down bringing a small feeling of tranquility to this explosion of love and colour. The songs flooded my ears and lyrics I hadn’t known before poured out of my mouth. The sea below continued its rhythm with water splashing from discarded cups, thrown into the air, creating a mist.’
 

I worked hard on the piece and I hope it gives a kind of feel for the night. It was the best night of my life. No doubt and I’m so glad there are people to share it with.

Hello chefs! 

Yes, I am that person who was number 1 in the queue and slept outside the venue overnight! I am aware that I am slightly insane!

 I've only recently made an account because the last time I was here I was about 14 and I have no idea what my old account was lol. This was the best night of my life. I was so overwhelmed that when the concert ended and he'd left stage door and gone, I literally sat on the green and cried my eyes out for about two hours. Probably didn't help that I'd been up for about 48 hours at that point. 

 Two points I want to make about my experience queuing- it was entirely not necessary to do what I did, I didn't know what to expect so I wanted to be extra sure I would be front row, especially because I paid over £100 to get there in the first place lol. The group who got there after me and were subsequently 2+ in the line got there at around 5am ish. Please do not take this as 'I need to come earlier than that then', because to be honest, the line didn't grow much until noon, and there really is no real difference if you're 3 compared to 13. Also, sorry to be negative but some of y'all are deadass rude?!?!!? I'd been queuing since 2 in the morning, I was tired and cold. I did not need a group of people much older than me who should have known better to be jostling me and insulting other people in the queue (including me) in their native language. Oh, by the way, I have a fairly reasonable grasp of a few languages so I understood what you were saying lol! You know who you are!! You have made clowns of yourself!!! There was also a fiasco with the O2 priority queue, when people who had no right to be in the queue started trying to lie their way in, and when they got called out by people in the queue (and rightly so), they would pretend not to hear or even pretend they didn't understand. I wasn't even in their queue and I thought this was ridiculous and unfair on the people who were supposed to be in the queue. This rudeness all accumulated to a point where when we got into the venue, my friend ASKED a girl if she could move next to me, and the girl literally shoved her and called her a c*nt. When I asked if that was necessary at all for a question she could have easily just said no to, people started ganging up?? I've never seen such rudeness and childishness and it was honestly shameful, if Mika saw any of what happened he would have been mortified. 

 

Anyway. 

 

Everything's pretty much been said about the actual concert, but I just wanted to add that during Love Today Mika saw me in the crowd and took my Pride flag, as well as someone throwing him a Lebanese flag, and he ran around stage with them both. I pretty much transcended at that point lol. I wish more pictures of it had been taken because Mika holding Pride flags after everything he's been through adds 20 years to my lifespan.

Thanks for sharing your video and your experience. Sorry you had some negative experiences, but you know, not all the fans in the queue were from Mika Fan Club, so the offenders may not see this.   Wish I could say that everyone always had the best manners, but of course that's not the case... especially not where Mika is concerned.

 

Not sure if you've had the chance to look through this thread, but I know I saw some pics of Mika with the pride flag at this show -- if not here, then on Instagram. Perhaps some folks will link to them for you.

 

Now we all just wait for the next UK gig... or gigs!
