2019 Mika @ Accor Hotel Arena, Paris, FRANCE 22 Dec REPORTS/PICS/VIDS

No reports yet? I'll do one when I'm on the train (hopefully, due to cancellations not sure yet when I can get on a train :aah:), but just quickly...

The gig was great, lots of fake snow, the choir for several songs, and Mika sang a French Xmas song at some point. The rainbow fanaction didn't go as planned, as security stopped most of our papers at the entrance. So it was just a small rainbow with 4 instead of 7 colours and just on one side. Looked good anyway and M liked it - but it makes me sad to imagine what it could've looked like. :crybaby:

The planes by the French fans looked great, tho in my personal opinion it was rather a very funny than a touching view, so I basically laughed through the whole sad song... Anyway Mika liked it, that's the most important thing.

After the show he left on a motorbike, right through the waiting fans and stopped for a short moment to wave.

Was all of that filmed for a DVD?

Apparently for French TV.

We all hope so. :naughty:

@mellody why didn't the securities want the papers in?

No idea. At different times we heard it was due to pyrotechnics on stage (which M didn't have) or due to cleaning issues (Mika covered the venue in fake snow). So really I don't know.

In concert in Paris, Mika comes back to basics: "It's more spontaneous!"

By Angèle Chatelier

After having to cancel a few concert dates, Mika was on Sunday evening at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris to present his latest album, "My Name Is Michael Holbrook", his real name, as if he wanted to get back to basics after more ten-year career.

REPORTAGE

He hadn't given a concert in the capital for four years. In an sold-out Paris AccorHotels Arena on Sunday evening, singer Mika followed up on his greatest hits and his new songs in almost two hours of a very intimate show. Behind him were large portraits of his parents. He introduced them, father and mother, as soon as he entered the scene at the same time as his latest single, Ice Cream

The intimacy he offered also went through the decoration of his concert: a giant aluminum monkey, a big moon, a rainbow carpet, a Gospel choir, a bright pink piano on which he sometimes nestles ... A decor certainly loaded, but less than before. For fans, it's almost better: "It opens more and that's why it's even more brilliant. It's more spontaneous, it's even more Mika!" micro d'Europe 1 a fan came to see him for the fourth time.

A part of himself

Throughout the concert, almost every song had its color, related to a moment in the life of the 36-year-old British singer. Displayed on the luminous square above him, he told them, sometimes lying on his carpet in the colors of the rainbow, sometimes without light, hidden. Like the green color, that of jealousy: "This emotion pushed me, because I was jealous of the man that I wanted to be", he evoked on stage before singing one of his last titles, Dear Jealousy.

It was only at the end of the concert that the whimsical happened: dozens of balloons came out from the sides of the stage, a big heart suddenly appeared from the piano… Dressed in pants and a polka dot jacket, Mika and especially Michael Holbrook offered to the public with an uncontained emotion a part of himself.

Nagui and his wife share a very festive evening with Mika

On his Instagram account this Sunday, December 22, Nagui unveiled a photo in which he appears alongside his wife Mélanie Page and Mika.

Christmas is not celebrated on the evening of December 24 and on peoples' homes on the 25th. Some stars prefer to take a step ahead to fully enjoy their end of year celebrations with all their loved ones. Nagui is one of those public figures who have anticipated a little to spend time with their friends.

This Sunday, December 22, the emblematic host of France 2 shared a photo on his Instagram account.

The smile of the lips, the presenter of Everyone wants to take his place has played the game of disguise and wears an imposing hat in the shape of legs of elves. Nagui did not come alone since his wife Mélanie Page also stood by his side. For her part, Roxane, Adrien and Annabel Fam's mother accessorized her outfit with a headband with a green bow and a luminous garland necklace. If the couple seems so happy, it is mainly because they have found one of their friends. It is the singer and former coach of The Voice Mika. The 36-year-old songwriter was a few hours before on the stage of the AccordHotels Arena for his Revelation Tour. "Xmas Party with my best friend after the superb show", wrote Nagui in legend of his publication, visibly delighted to have been able to attend the artist's concert.

Stars who met more than 10 years ago

Nagui and Mika have known each other for many years now. It must be said that the 58-year-old TV host gave a boost to the singer's career when he started out. In February 2007, the interpreter of Popular Song had the privilege of making his first French television thanks to Nagui. He participates in the Taratata show and promotes his first album entitled Life in Cartoon Motion. On this occasion, Mika grants an interview to the piano and takes up the cult titles Les Champs-Elysées by Joe Dassin, Kiss by Prince or even Killer Queen by Freddie Mercury. What reveal the extent of his varied musical universe.

YES! I made it to Bercy. Thanks to Flixbus, who believe it or not, just had their stop right next to the venue! Everything went so well I seriously consider to take that bus again in the future. No strike can stop me now! The venue was crowded which is good for Mika but less for me (30 people queueing at the toilets inside!). Made a little walk on Saturday and a little walk on Sunday bumping into the tucks (12!) of Mika so that was a nice surprise.

Security was very thorough, 3 times ticket control, 2 times bag control (superficially) and security gates to check for metal objects. The staff was very friendly and everything was well organised as we are used to at Accorhotels Arena. :cheerful_h4h: The support acts: Daysy who was a bit full of herself but quite nice and Corine which was the best support act so far and of course 'Freddie' and co during I Want To Break Free!

After all that, I started to feel sorry for those who were queueing at the venue from 8AM or earlier and had to wait even more. Meanwhile, I spotted Nikos with his family sitting a few rows below me and a very beautiful Christmas present: Mika's family was there including his mother which means she is feeling better!! They were sitting at the P.A. as the royal family as they should be and it made me smile all evening being happy for him. :wub2:

Finally, Mika came up and everyone went berserk as per usual. At the beginning he was a bit nervous which is normal but as the show went on he relaxed. The playlist is already known by now but he managed to make it different with 2 (!) choirs who were dancing and singing as if their lives depended on it. :thumb_yello:There were also 2 big screens on each side of the podium, there were 4 snow cannons which was lovely, the French MFC made little airplanes and Mellody did her very best to make a rainbow which had a beautiful effect. Mika was very emotional singing Paloma and as usual I had the waterworks going :tears: ! From that moment on, it went from one rollercoaster to another until Happy Ending came and, sad to say, he went on his knees again to beg for silence. The MILUS (Mika I Love U Shouters) couldn't resist to make a 'look-at-me-moment' so from this moment on I shall give no notice anymore of them and refer to them as MILUS :mad3: . Mika was all over the show captured every moment and managed to make us feel all special although he was the shining star! I also want to do a big applause for the band :flowers2:. I hope they will be staying at Mika's side forever. Leaves me to say, everyone was so enthusiastic and gave so much loving energy to Mika, he was overwhelmed by it. :wub2:

As an encore, he and his band were dancing on Pump Up The Jam and almost everyone danced with them. (By the way, to whom it is of interest, that song was sung by Manuela Kamosi (Antwerp) who lives in Nigeria now and was being play-backed by Fellini Killingi (model of Brussels). She was the face of Technotronic who was produced by Jo Bogaert who lives in my city)

More dead than alive but very high I went to bed, had a great breakfast and went home with the Flixbus again. For everyone, a very merry xmas and a healthy, happy lots of Mika year. Even for the MILUS! :biggrin2:

So well... let's see how much else I find to write about Bercy - you can see most of the things that were unique to this gig in the photos and videos, like the choir, or the screen around the stage, or the TV cameras, or Mika and the band & choir dancing to "Pump up the jam" after the last song. Also for "I want to break free" before the show, there wasn't just the "Freddie" on stage, but also a Teddy bear (I had quickly wondered whether Mika was in that costume), Santa Claus and some elves. I only saw that for a short moment tho, as I was distracted by my son.

Just gotta say, watching a Mika gig with a 5 year old, in the seated area, is completely different from my usual frontrow experience. :aah: I could enjoy the gig nevertheless, not only but also because I got some eye contact / pointing from Mika during OOL - I hadn't expected that, being so far away from the stage. But I guess I stood out among those around me, for several reasons. :naughty: Actually I was furious at people around me for not standing up during Ice Cream and Dear Jealousy, how can they not dance to that?! :aah: Even my son was dancing to DJ, he's small enough to get up without blocking anyone's view.  Finally for Relax they got up. Just to sit down again for the next song.  Watching a Mika gig seated just isn't my cup of tea - I mean, even at the symphonic gigs it was hard to stay in my place, his music just isn't made for sitting still! :aah: :naughty: Guess that's one reason why I love it so much, I don't just hear it with my ears, but it touches my whole body, heart and soul. :wub2: It's impossible for me not to move to Dear Jealousy, for example.

I was very happy tho about not having to queue. So, seats are ok, as it's nice to have a fixed place, but actually using them - just for the pauses and the slow songs, please! :lol3:

The support acts were two women - the first one, Daisy, was a bit stressful for my ears, but I actually quite enjoyed the 2nd one, Corinne, she seemed fun. :)

Mika's gig was great, I was much more able to "feel" it than the last Bercy gig, although both were filmed and I was further away this time and with my son, who was overtired and made me miss several songs, because he needed my attention. At some point we went to the aisle, where I had more space to move and to pick up my son occasionally, and didn't get on the nerves of ppl around me by enjoying the gig the way I do. Luckily security was cool about it, I know in other venues they'd have shooed us away. Actually the staff inside the venue was pretty relaxed, it was just at the entrance where some security people weren't. Probably because they missed Mika's show there, that'd also be enough to get me in a bad mood. :naughty:

Anyway, I realized that it probably isn't a good idea to take my son to a standing gig, simply because of the time. So I'll have to see what I'll do about Luxembourg. He always says he wants to stay up late, as all kids do, but although he did enjoy the gig a lot, he was just too tired at that time of the evening. Only after the gig he had managed to get over it and was eager to see Mika leave and wave goodbye to him. I did ask him several times whether we should go back to our hotel, but he didn't want to. I was a bit worried, because I thought Mika might party inside for hours and then come out for a nice long M&G, and I'd miss that - but well, at least Mika now is reliable in NOT doing M&G's, so there was no need to worry. :lmfao:

When I told my son that it might take hours til Mika would leave, as he's partying with his friends inside (as I thought), he thought for a moment and said "but you're his friend too, aren't you?". :wub2: I answered that "well, kind of, but not really", and then he said "you should become really his friend!", and after thinking for another moment, he asked, "...but how do you become really friends with him?". Well, if only I knew... The truth in children's words at a quarter to midnight is remarkable! :aah:

When Mika came on the motorbike, I wouldn't have realized it if the fans on the other side hadn't started shouting. I'd have never expected him to leave while there was still this long queue of cars leaving the garage - but sure, on a motorbike he can just pass the traffic jams! I was just on the other side of the cars and took my son up, so he could see. Mika took off his helmet and waved a bit, and my son waved to him too and said "Hallo Mika!", that was pretty cute.  Mika didn't notice us tho. He left after a short moment. On our way back to the hotel we also saw Andy leave in the car, with the dogs. Seems he quickly talked to some fans who were waiting at the gate near the car, but I just saw him leave.

Btw, him and Mika's family were partying on the mixing desk podium in the back of the standing area. They were far away, but I could see some of them had blinking fairy lights around their necks, including Beauregard, who is the same age as my son but seemed much more awake, at least from afar! :teehee: (Edit: deleted the part about Mika's mum, as it seems I mixed her up with another lady, maybe her sister.)

They were far away, but I could see some of them had blinking fairy lights around their necks, and Mika's mum looked so much better than when I had seen her the last time in London, in a wheelchair. She was clapping and moving to the music in her seat, and at one point I even saw that she stood up to cheer for her son. :wub2: After his speech before EMD at the previous gigs, I'm sure it made him happy and gave him extra energy that she was there and able to enjoy the gig. :wub2:

@mellody dId you really see Mika's mum standing up? I looked at her several times and I always saw her quite still in her weelchair between zuleika and fortune'. There was a lady sitting there who looked a lot like her, but I think she was one of her sisters (I think Austin and Audrey' s mum) and it was her who moved in her seat.

Oh, maybe I mixed her up with that lady then, as I said, I was far away... But also other fans who had been near that area told me that Mrs P wasn't in a wheelchair (which I had thought) but walking to and from the mixing desk... who knows, maybe they mixed them up too. :aah:

In any case I'm sure Mika liked it that she was able to attend the gig.

Before the gig I went behind the arena to see where Mika could go out and I saw a part of Mika's family arriving: dad, mum definitely in a wheelchair with a girl who put a blanket on her and this lady, very similar to Joanie, who had a crutch and was limping. But I'm pretty sure that, during the concert, Mika's mum was in a wheelchair and she didn't move at all. To say the truth I was a bit sad because she didn't seem to be well, not at all. 😔
