The winner of this edition is William ❤️

Oh whoah! Was he only allowed to see his family between recordings through videochat? That must’ve been hard, especially with a newborn! But very rewarding that it all paid off by winning this edition!

I loved Lunou's  reaction when Lara announced that the winner is William.

Lunou started to scream of joy as if she was the winner. It was so sweet. She was sincerely happy for William.

This is what I loved the best in this program. The students were so nice to each other. They really became friends.

It was not about winning. It was about learning, having fun and creating real friendship.

Last week, his wife and mom came at the academy for a visit, but from what I understand, that was the only exception

The French ended up winning at Star Académie

The sixth edition of Star Académie was surely the one where we heard the most English songs.

Like so many other viewers, I felt that the three teachers, Lara Fabian, Ariane Moffat and Gregory Charles, had initially left their pupils free to choose the songs they wished to perform. The various platforms broadcasting mainly American and English songs, it is these that the young people hum and memorize. They were also the ones that the academicians had chosen for their first performances.

This profusion of English-speaking music came at a bad time. Montrealers are increasingly worried about the decline of French in the metropolis and efforts to call for the revitalization of the old Bill 101 continue to intensify. Even in Ottawa - which is far from common - we are concerned about the situation of French in Montreal and in francophone communities outside Quebec.

Are the TV columnists responsible for the change that has taken place at Star Ac? Did the producers intervene? Did the teachers suddenly realize the incongruity of the situation? In any event, the tide has turned and the latest shows have given more prominence to French and Quebec song.

THE BAR IS HIGH FOR 2022

For their final performance, the finalists even chose two songs by Jean-Jacques Goldman, created specifically for Celine Dion twenty years ago. Lunou Zucchini performed with relative success Vole, a song written for Karine, a niece of Celine who died of cystic fibrosis. William Cloutier got it right with Et je t'aime encore.

Despite an uncertain start, lack of studio audiences and stringent health restrictions, Star Académie 2021 has set the bar high for next year's edition. The series may have been patchy, but it resulted in some spectacular acts - those of Mika in particular - moving scenes, and unexpected moments of humor and self-mockery. Team White’s inventive choreography has fleshed out more than one act.

The choice of Patrice Michaud as host was tricky ( casse-gueule ). As one of Michaud’s songs says, he “played kamikaze” and his pleasure like ours grew with use. Getting over Julie Snyder was no small feat. By choosing the folk singer from Cap-Chat, Productions Déferlantes attempted a completely different register and won.
