New and stronger travel restrictions just out now in France and starting from sunday

I wonder if this would affect Mika's involvment in Canada ????

I'm still not sure he's even going to Canada, maybe he can do the work via video conference? And if he's going and the restrictions apply to him, I suppose he'll just make sure to leave before Sunday. :dunno_grin:Are the restrictions for all travels or just for the ones from countries where there's a lot of cases of the virus mutations? That's what they're planning in Germany, but it wouldn't affect Canada.

Anyway, one thing that Mika is really good at is being flexible and able to adjust to new situations quickly. I'm sure when they were planning this, they took into account that restrictions can always happen in these times.

For people coming from EU and the French overseas territories , they'll need a negative test to enter the country

For the countries outside the EU , traveling is only permited for imperious reasons.

As an US citizen I guess he'll not have serious problems to leave , but it may be more complicated if he wants to come back ....

He'd be travelling for work, usually they see that as a valid reason to travel. He could just fly back to another European country that doesn't have these restrictions. Or he just stays there for a while, I suppose he wouldn't mind that either, he said often enough how much he loves Montreal.

:uk:

“Star Académie” will be eye-catching from Sunday

It will backfire everywhere at the Sunday varieties of "Star Académie", in an environment worthy of the biggest stars. The production reiterates it: The Academicians will have a blast on Canada's biggest indoor variety stage.

A “technical and artistic playground”. These are the terms used by the artistic director and director Marcella Grimaux (Loud, Jean Leloup, etc.), in videoconference, Monday, to describe the impressive set, in production since May 2020, which will welcome the host Patrice Michaud, the singers of "Star Académie" and other guests every week (see box).

No, there will not be an audience to cheer on our rising and established stars, but we will change things differently. The pandemic will not affect the scale of the show, we swear. The musicians (50% men, 50% women), among others, will be much more in the foreground than in normal times, to compensate for the absence of spectators, and each number will have its own atmosphere. him, with a whole battalion of lighting and front (40 feet high) and side screens (about fifteen feet high).

New number concepts have been devised to update this 2021 version of “Star Académie” and its Sunday happenings. Like these “Songs of the Nation”, immortal titles of Quebec song that will be revisited by the Academicians and Gregory Charles to celebrate Quebec's musical heritage. Or the "Playlist" portion and its themes, which will be inspired by our ways of consuming music in 2020 and the new knowledge of academics. Or this piano-voice segment, which will offer more sober and intimate moments.

Scholarships, tour, album ...

Obviously, "Star Academy" Sundays will remain elimination nights, where three candidates will have to defend their places. This year, professors will use the performance offered by participants at the previous Sunday’s gala to take five of them for assessment and then place three at risk. The endangerments will be mixed.

At the end of the season, a grand total of $ 325,000 in cash will be distributed among the Young Revelations of “Star Académie”. The big winner will get their hands on a $ 125,000 scholarship, the second finalist will accept $ 50,000, and each of the 15 academics will receive a $ 10,000 "Artist Contribution".

This is without counting the traditional group album which will be marketed by Musicor during the year, which will most likely derive from a "Star Académie" tour, if sanitary conditions permit. The winner will walk away with an artist contract under one of Quebecor's three labels (Musicor, Ste-4 Musique, MP3 Disques).

Otherwise, part of the profits raised thanks to the votes of the public on Sunday will be donated to two organizations that help adolescents, Tel-Jeunes and the Fondation Jeunes en Tête.

Big launch

This Sunday, February 14, is the big night, the official start of the "Star Académie 2021" season. Of the 21 aspiring Academicians still in the running, 12 will learn live that they are automatically admitted to the Academy, which is camped at Maplewood Manor in Waterloo. The other nine will have to perform a song to earn their right to sue; of the lot, three will be saved - two by the public and another by the faculty (Lara Fabian, Gregory Charles, Ariane Moffatt) - and will also join the cohort.

By now, the 21 candidates - who have been in quarantine for two weeks, COVID obliges - have already packed their bags, rehearsed their song and even completed their annual tax return, just to be able to dive into the adventure peace of mind.

We are urged not to miss the opening of this first gala, which we promise will be remarkable. Performances by Louis-Jean Cormier, Corneille, FouKi, Les Sœurs Boulay, Laurence Nerbonne and Alaclair together and a certain Patrice Michaud, as well as a special Valentine's Day segment bringing together the most beautiful love melodies, and a signature number of all styles under the theme of the union which is strength, will furnish the following two and a half hours. Artistic Director Mika and Identity Professor Pepe Munoz will be in the flesh and blood later in the season, and Mika will give his charges a wink on Sunday.

It will also be the occasion to hear for the first time the sparkling theme-piece of this new version, "Now and everywhere", composed by Jérôme 50, Julyan and Hubert Lenoir, which can also be downloaded on the platforms digital and hear on radio from February 17.

Among the 400 talents who are working to build these thunderous rendezvous (more than two meters away!), We include directors Yves Lefebvre and Maxime Bissonnette-Théorêt, musical director Alex McMahon (Ariane Moffatt, Louis-Jean Cormier) and Team White, winning duo of the first edition of “Revolution”, which signs all the choreographies. Gregory Charles also contributes music content in addition to being a voice teacher.

Faces of "The Star Académie Squad", Mathieu Dufour, Mélissa Bédard and Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais will take the pulse of the "Star Académie" frenzy "in the field" and will meet the families of the Academicians and the public. It is in particular the trio of "The Squad ..." which will make the visit of the owner of the Academy to the public first.

Cellular

For the first time in the history of "Star Académie", in their homes, Academicians will have a cell phone in their pocket, in particular to familiarize themselves with the proper management of social networks. The periods of use of the devices will be supervised and supervised at specific times of the week. As at the time, on a daily basis, young people will have the right to one minute a day to chat with a member of their entourage on the phone.

“Star Académie”, starting Sunday, February 14, at 7 p.m., at TVA. The galas will be broadcast simultaneously on QUB radio and on TVA +, where they will be available for catch-up throughout the season, in the same way as the dailies.

The variety range in figures:

- Largest variety platter in the country

- 33 days and 17 trailer trucks were needed to set up the set for the “Star Académie” set, at the MELS studio in Saint-Hubert

- The set area is 6,200 square feet, the equivalent of two arena production stages end to end

- The platform is available at 270 degrees, to allow a maximum of viewing angles and spectacular performances, with a central lifting platform

- The studio has 15 cameras, 800 lighting projectors, 1076 video tiles, 30 kilometers of cabling, 48 wireless microphones, a versatile and automated ceiling and a massive set of screens

The daily routine:

- The daily "Star Académie" will be broadcast on TVA from Monday to Thursday, at 7 pm, starting February 15

- A 24-hour gap will separate the events at the academy and their daily broadcast, with a documentary approach

- Monday: return to the Sunday variety, post mortem with director Lara Fabian and announcement of appraisals

- Tuesday: artistic identity course, evaluation in front of the faculty and announcement of endangerments

- Wednesday: musical creation class with Ariane Moffatt, announcement of guests for the next variety, distribution of numbers and creation workshop at the Musical Lab

This sounds like Mika will be there in person, not this week but later for the show? And on Sunday maybe a video call with him?

Yes, it sound like this.

This weekend Mika will only connect for a moment to say something to the candidates.

And a teacher Pepe Munoz and Mika will be there in person later during the season.

STAR ACADÉMIE 2021: LE VARIÉTÉ

DIMANCHE 19 H, TVA

STAR ACADEMY THE VARIETY

A FIRST Dazzling Appointment!

STAR ACADÉMIE 2021: THE VARIETY

SUNDAY 7 P.M., VAT

START OF SEASON 9

«Music is an essential service»

After nine years of absence, Star Académie is finally back at TVA. New host Patrice Michaud looks forward to spotlighting the young candidates, whom he already speaks with great love in his voice.

BY MARIE-HÉLÈNE GOULET

Patrice, what can we expect for the first variety of Star Académie 2021?

I have to be careful with my answers because I have often spoiled surprises in the past. In particular, I missed two baby showers by selling the wick, which is saying something! However, I can announce that we will do all we can to shed light on this beautiful youth. The candidates are in a way our children, our grandchildren, our brothers, our sisters, our cousins and our cousins. They are so beautiful! We want to make them see and hear by giving them all the space.

Twenty-two young people will attend the first gala. Will they fight for their place in the Academy?

Some will be offered a direct passage, but others will have to sing to earn their seats. There will be a lot of songs and performances in this first gala. It will be rich in emotions!

Are you nervous about hosting live for the first time in front of millions of viewers?

Honestly, I don't think I'll get a long, deep night's sleep the night before. Yes, I am nervous, but I am also very happy to be able to learn a new profession. I've been working hard, been hands on for a while, and enjoy getting ready and asking questions. I even think I'm taking more of this opportunity now than if it had come earlier in my career. Not only do I realize that there is no age to learn, but I also have a certain confidence that has built up over time. In addition, I have a great team that surrounds me and advises me.

Do you think it will be difficult to hold back your emotions when you announce the names of the 15 young people who will get on the bus to the Academy?

I will certainly be very moved! I am a father and I believe that when you become a parent, there are several valves that pop. I am definitely more sensitive than before. I hope I can live in the moment while continuing to do my job well and keeping the pace, because as the host, I will serve as a driving belt for the audience.

What comments would you like to receive from viewers the day after the gala?

I would like them to tell me that this beautiful evening has passed so quickly that they are already looking forward to next week!

Is a show like Star Académie necessary during a pandemic?

Right now, music is an essential service, and it has its place on television. We are not even here to try to convince people that we are aware of it. In these trying times, we all have a little something to heal, and I hope people who watch the show do well. It’s very beautiful what we have to offer at Star Académie. Thanks to artists and songs that we love, we will have a great time.

Tell us about the show's new anthem, Now and Everywhere. Why is this a good theme song?

There are songs we want to sing in harmony with, and others we want to sing loudly together. Now and everywhere belongs to the second category. It’s a festive, rhythmic hymn that we need right now. The idea at the heart of this song is to enjoy together what is happening, here and now! I'm very proud of it, especially since it was written by Hubert Lenoir, Julyan and Jérôme 50, three artists I knew at a young age, before they reached popularity. The fact that they created this work is very moving for me. Also, it seems only natural to me that new generation artists were given the mandate to write the new theme for Star Académie.

TO NOTE

At the time of going to press, only the 20 candidates featured in our pages had been chosen for the first variety; the public had to vote to select two more.

Star Académie: the biggest TV set in the country

It’s nothing short of the biggest TV set in Canada that will host the 21 Star Académie nominees on Sunday night.

For this first Variety of the season, aspiring academics will take possession of their playground installed at Studio Mels, on the south shore of Montreal. Measuring 6,200 square feet - twice the size of an arena stage, this set will allow the production team to operate over 270 degrees.

"Each issue will be designed like a painting," said one of the two directors, Maxime Bissonnette-Théoret. We are going to slow down the rate at which the clips are cut to increase the Wow effect! of this gigantic plateau. "

15 cameras

Presented to the press on Monday, the Star Académie set has something to impress. Three large screens surround the stage while the musicians will be seated in front of the performers and not behind, as is the norm on most TV sets.

To capture all the emotion that will be transmitted by the artists, 15 cameras will make sure not to miss anything.

"It's a tight-knit technical team that we have for the return of Star Ac," added director Yves Lefebvre. We constantly questioned ourselves and put in place creative ideas that we would never have dared to do other than on this set. "

Other numbers from the producers are almost giddy. It took 33 days to set up the scene with the equipment stored in 17 trailer trucks. Over 30 kilometers of cables, 800 lighting projectors and 48 wireless microphones complete the picture.

A first direct

The master builder of this great comeback of Star Académie, Productions Déferlantes have gone to great lengths to ensure that, both on Sunday evenings and daily weekdays, everything meets expectations.

"Our biggest concern was not to disappoint early Star Ac fans," said Jean Philippe Dion, executive producer at Déferlantes. And at the same time, we want to please a new audience, closer to our academics. "

For the first Variety presented this Sunday at 7 p.m., the scenario will be very different from the eleven others to come. From the outset, 12 candidates will be immediately selected to enter the Academy. Afterwards, the remaining nine contestants will perform a song, live, during the two-and-a-half-hour show. And of this group, three candidates will be "saved", including one by the public and two by the teachers.

Guests

To launch the season, several guest artists are expected, namely Louis-Jean Cormier, Fouki, Laurence Nerbonne, Alaclair Ensemble, Corneille and the Boulay Sisters.

It is also indicated that Mika should appear on the screens during this evening declined under the theme of Valentine's Day.

For the other Variety evenings, the production team did not reveal many secrets except that for each program, a song from the Quebec repertoire will be "inducted" as a Song of the Nation.

"It's our way of celebrating French and Quebec song," said Jean-Philippe Dion.

Daily

As for the daily shows, they will begin on February 15. Presented from Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m., these programs will allow the public to get to know the participants better while following their artistic development.

The dailies will follow a typical week at the Academy which includes, on Monday, a review of the Sunday variety, the postmortem of the director and the announcement of evaluations. Tuesday will be artistic identity lessons, evaluation in front of teachers and endangerment. On Wednesday, we will discuss musical creation classes, announce the Variety's guests and see the results of the creation workshop at the Musical Lab. Finally, Thursday will be the time for voice and music lessons, the principal's class, the preparation of candidates at risk and a visit by a guest artist.

Obviously, Star Académie is very present on social networks and on the web. The public will also be able to follow the Academicians on TVA + as well as on the Star Académie podcast available on QUB radio.

Several new items on the menu for Sunday varieties at Star Académie

After months of waiting, it is finally this Sunday February 14 that the great official kickoff of Star Académie 2021 will take place with the very first variety.

A few days before the big premiere, journalists were invited to a virtual round table to discover the various novelties that will be offered to viewers, particularly with regard to the famous Sunday varieties.

The team has agreed to reveal some new features that will be in the spotlight, while remaining quite discreet, keeping the surprise.

First, each week, a song from the Quebec repertoire will be “inducted” as being the song of the nation. It is a way of saluting pieces that are part of our musical foundation, in addition to making room for the French language.

There will also be two segments that will be added to the variety music component. First, the “playlist” segment, which is meant to be a nod to the music lists available on the various streaming applications. The Academicians will perform various songs gathered under the same theme, inspired by what they will have discussed with the teachers during the week. Also of note is the “around the piano” segment, which will take place either with a teacher or with a guest artist. This portion will provide acoustic performance.

We promise large-scale acts, but also much warmer and more intimate performances, compared to what the show has accustomed us to during the first drafts.

On the other hand, you should know that these novelties will not begin until the second week, because the February 14 variety will be slightly different from the next ones. It will be used to determine the identity of the lucky ones who will be able to enter the Academy. Among the 21 candidates, there are 12 who will learn live that they are going directly to Waterloo. The remaining nine will have to perform a song in order to earn their place in the adventure, but only three places are available. Two singers will be saved by the public, and one by the faculty, thus completing the 15 places.

We also promise that Mika, artistic director, will make "a hello" during this first evening, which will be under the theme of Valentine's Day, February 14 obliges!

It is therefore an event not to be missed on Sunday February 14, at 7 p.m. on TVA.

Unheard of for the return of Star Académie this Sunday

It is this Sunday February 14, from 7 p.m. on TVA, that viewers will be able to reconnect with Star Academy, first with a great variety which will of course be hosted by Patrice Michaud. A few days before this great event, journalists were invited to a meeting on Monday to discover all the details on this new version, reinvented for 2021. We were thus able to discover the monumental stage which will welcome aspiring academics this Sunday. What you will discover that evening is nothing more and nothing less than never seen before for this concept.

The idea is certainly to impress us, by marrying the grandiose with the human. To do this, nearly 400 people have been working hard for months to develop an up-to-date concept, which will respect health rules without depriving us of the happiness of a great show. The stage, developed by a major crew, will be the largest variety stage in the country and certainly the biggest set ever for Star Academy. By way of comparison, the stage will have twice the size of that of The voice.

To fill the absence of an audience, the creators have imagined a clean space with clean lines, in which the musicians – 50% women and 50% men to represent current reality – will take their places, in front of the singers. Thus, they will face each other and be able to interact visually. This scene, it took 33 days and 17 truck trailers to install it in the heart of the MELS studio. It covers an area of 6,200 square feet and features a central lifting platform, 800 lights, an automated ceiling, plentiful LED screens and more. It is a real technical and artistic playground where the team can have fun. Moreover, the aspiring academics were like children in a candy store when they discovered this unique and inspiring space.

Obviously, all this would be nothing without the spectacle that will accompany it. The variety you will see this Sunday will be very different from the others presented during the season. The idea is to make the selection of candidates who will enter the Academy. During the evening, 12 artists will learn that they are moving directly to the Academy. Nine others will have to perform. Among these, the public will have to save one and the professors of the Academy, another. Director Yves Lefebvre will be at the helm of the first six galas, while Maxime Bissonnette-Théorêt will take over for the other six. Expect a special segment for Valentine’s Day this Sunday, featuring academics from the Academy.

In the varieties that follow, talent and music will of course be in the spotlight. We will see as many large-scale acts as more intimate performances. We will notably be entitled to a “Playlist” segment in which we will be able to hear a montage of songs that all have one thing in common, with the aim of representing the way in which people listen to music these days. Likewise, in each episode, we will induct an important song from our Quebec corpus, opening the evening. We tried to find out the first song that will be inducted, without success. You will have to be there from the second variety to find out.

Finally, know that no less than $ 325,000 in cash will be awarded to the winners and participants during the season. The big winner will take home $ 125,000, while the runner-up will win $ 50,000. Likewise, each of the academicians will receive a contribution of $ 10,000. Also note that the profits from the vote will be donated to two important organizations: Tel-Jeunes and the Fondation Jeune en tête. It seems that everything has been thought out and put in place here to represent our current reality without forgetting anything about the people and the spectacular aspect. It will therefore be necessary to be there to see if the magic is there.

Note that Laurence Nerbonne, Louis-Jean Cormier, Corneille, Les Sœurs Boulay, Alaclair Ensemble and FouKi have confirmed their participation in the first gala.

The teachers will be there, as will Mika who should give a virtual hello. Basically, it promises!

Remember thata candidate had to be excluded from the process after contracting the Covid.

At least they claim that it'll be live... but it'll be very late for him, especially when he's still in Athens. Start 19h, that'd be 2am in Greece. :dunno:

Well they also claimed that the one Xfactor interview would be live, and then it was just a recording.

Thanks! The "open official site" from your first link works for me with a Canadian proxy. https://www.qub.ca/tvaplus/tva/en-direct

Anyway he'd have to be on soon after the show starts, I'm not planning to stay up all night for a few seconds of him saying Hi. :mf_rosetinted:
