We have drought but fortunately there is a period of rain these days.

It hasn't snowed or rained much here in winter, but fortunately we still have enough water at the moment. :original:

How about hiding them in our bras? :fisch:

Most people hide unidentified powder in cakes, cookies or brownies....

Not that I'd know anything about that... :fisch:

It's not just me though, Mika admitted to having a "special" muffin which helped him write Origin of Love!

Today is Mother's Day in the UK!

MOTHERS-DAY--640x514.thumb.jpg.05258885d00d37387df137bc090fac5f.jpg

The date is different every year as it falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent.

Started off as Mothering Sunday, when people returned to their "Mother" church - in the village/town where they had been brought up.  Then it got muddled up with the American Mother's Day, which was more commercial.

I can remember being given (at church) a posy of violets and primroses to take home for my mother (which shows that in ancient times there were far less people and far more wild flowers - you couldn't do that these days).

Saw it, Mika would like it. :mika2:

Today is the world piano day because the piano has 88 keys and today is the 88th day of the year.

I heard it on the radio today morning, but I'm quite busy just before the North American trip, so I didn't say anything about it until now.

Today is Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, commemorating Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.  it is traditional for churches to hand out palm crosses to the congregation.

Palms are used because when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, the crowds scattered palm leaves before him.  (Other leaves are often used to make the crosses as palms are not native to northern countries).

Happy Vaisakhi to all who celebrate!

Today is Sikh new year, also celebrated by Hindus.

For anyone wondering the spelling of this celebration is different due to different dialects spoken across India and middle Eastern countries.

And of course for Christians it is Maundy Thursday, the night of the Last Supper.

In the UK the ruler hands out Maundy money (small coins specially minted) - originally giving alms to the poor, though I think people are selected to receive the money now.
