I was pressing "play" on the video and expected a full Italian clip to be played, but of course it's in English! So when Mika's part came on I was incredibly excited to actually understand everything he was saying 

Love the quirkiness of the video. I believe there is so much chemistry between them, they are a dream team to present the ESC this year. I loved how the presenters did it last year in the Netherlands, they were very witty and refreshing and also had a great chemistry. I would not be surprised if they will present with the same (but of course their own unique) kind of vibe, can't wait!

I also noticed that ... and I really love this picture, it seems so natural, like a random moment they caught on camera, not like actual posing. That look on Mika's face feels like he was genuinely happy in that moment - maybe he liked how Laura leaned towards him, that's so sweet... or he liked that she found his jacket useful to cover up her deep decolleté.

Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan e Mika ci raccontano come stanno vivendo la loro grande attesa

 

Potere della tecnologia (e di Sorrisi): a pochi giorni dall’Eurovision Song Contest che si terrà a Torino (in diretta su Raiuno) dal 10 al 14 maggio, abbiamo riunito in una videochiamata i tre presentatori, sebbene siano sparsi per il mondo.

 

Mika è a San Francisco, di cui scorgiamo i grattacieli sullo sfondo della sua camera d’albergo, tra una tappa e l’altra del tour americano.

Alessandro Cattelan è alle Baleari, in una pausa di relax con la moglie e le due figlie: alle sue spalle possiamo vedere un tramonto meraviglioso.

Laura Pausini, infine, è a casa sua a Roma.

 

Raccontatemi un po’ come state vivendo l’emozione della vigilia.

 

Alessandro: «C’è tanta attesa! Sono stato a Torino e stavano montando il palco: è spettacolare. È da tanto tempo che non vedo così tanta gente tutta insieme. Sarà bellissimo riassaporare l’energia della musica dal vivo».

 

Laura: «In questi ultimi due anni mi sono sempre esibita davanti a un pubblico limitato, non vedo l’ora. Sto facendo un ripasso di inglese con l’aiuto di mia figlia, che lo parla molto meglio di me e mi sgrida per il mio accento».

 

Mika: «È una sfida… all’Eurovision non si può improvvisare, devi sempre seguire dei “conti alla rovescia” che da casa non si vedono ma sono nascosti dappertutto. Sembra di stare alla Nasa!».

 

Laura: «Mi fai venire un’ansia…».

 

Mika: «Non c’è niente al mondo di confrontabile: 200 milioni di spettatori, un’arena piena di persone da tutto il pianeta. Meno male che ci sono Ale e Laura con me, perché con la nostra energia riusciremo a dimenticare la pressione».

 

A Sanremo avete annunciato la conduzione: da allora che cos’è successo?

 

Laura: «È stato impossibile incontrarci dal vivo di nuovo, quando saremo a Torino voglio finalmente abbracciarmeli un po’. Lo senti che c’è un’armonia e una vera complicità tra di noi? Ecco, mi manca tantissimo non poterla vivere fino in fondo».

 

Mika: «Dovevo tornare prima in Italia, ma mi sono ammalato e quindi arrivo a Torino all’ultimo minuto…».

 

Laura: «Mi hanno dato il piano delle prove ed è bello tosto, abbiamo tanti impegni da incastrare».

 

Mika: «Tranquilla però, alle 20.30 ogni sera possiamo andare a cena!».

 

Alessandro: «Sui ristoranti garantisco io».

 

Laura: «Tu non hai capito, non mangio niente finché non è finito!».

 

Alessandro: «Vedrai, vedrai…».

 

Mika (cantando): «Mangeraaai…».

 

Che cos’è Eurovision per voi?

 

Alessandro: «È lo spettacolo musicale più importante del mondo, la vastità di gente che riesce a raggiungere è incredibile. È come un gigantesco Erasmus, con una città invasa da gente che porta gioia e scambio. Nel 2022 questo senso di unione assume una valenza ancora maggiore».

 

Mika: «L’idea di universalità è fondamentale, ma è anche lo

show più divertente del pianeta. È una nave spaziale, un Ufo che atterra a Torino. Ci sono delle performance fuori di testa…».

 

Laura: «Spero che questo incontro con tante nazioni influenzi la mia musica e penso che in un momento di divisione trasmettere gioia tutti uniti sia anche un messaggio di pace».

 

Voi condurrete in inglese, ma molti italiani non vi sentiranno: seguiranno il commento in italiano di Corsi e Malgioglio (vedi a pag. 22)...

 

Mika: «Tra l’altro i commentatori degli altri Paesi passano la maggior parte del tempo a criticare i presentatori…».

 

Laura: «Perché? Non me l’avevi mai detto! In che senso?».

 

Mika: «Vedrai, ci prenderanno in giro in tante lingue diverse. I francesi sono cattivissimi».

 

Alessandro: «Graham Norton (il celebre commentatore inglese, ndr) ci distruggerà!».

 

State già studiando i cantanti dei vari Paesi in gara?

 

Alessandro: «Sì, oggi grazie ai social è possibile arrivare già preparati».

 

Mika: «E invitiamo i lettori di Sorrisi ad andare sui social di Eurovision per ascoltarsi prima le canzoni: c’è di tutto, dall’assurdo al commovente».

 

Laura: «Però noi non vogliamo dire chi sono i nostri preferiti per non influenzare la gara».

 

Mika e Laura, è vero che anche voi vi esibirete?

 

Laura: «Sì, c’è qualcosa in ballo...».

 

Mika: «Stiamo preparando tante cose. Non ho mai visto un piano di produzione così!».

 

Laura: «Ecco, ti faccio vedere (mi mostra WhatsApp sul telefono, ndr).

Guarda, tutte le chat del mio telefono parlano solo dell’Eurovision!».

 

Mika: «Ah, “i” chat! Non ce la faccio con tutti questi chat! Io non leggo, ma qualcuno manda tanti messaggi…».

 

Laura: «Io!».

 

Alessandro: «La scala dei livelli di messaggistica tra noi ha due estremi: Laura e Mika. A volte ci preoccupiamo e gli scriviamo: “Mika ma stai bene?”. La “Pau”, invece, ha il dito facile...».

 

Mika: «Il telefono serve per telefonare! Ma Laura non mi risponde».

 

Laura: «Non telefono mai per proteggere le corde vocali, pensa che non chiamo nemmeno i miei genitori. Non sono contentissimi di questa cosa…».

 

Quindi avete una chat tra voi tre… con solo messaggi di Laura?

 

Alessandro: «No dai, ogni tanto anche miei…».

 

Mika: «Ma nemmeno uno mio!». Laura: «Eccola (mi mostra di nuovo il telefono dove appare la chat “3 euroguys”, cioè “tre euroragazzi”, ndr)».

 

L’Eurovision per i conduttori prevede dei copioni molto rigidi, cosa porterete della vostra esperienza televisiva nello show?

 

Laura: «Io mi preparo tanto, ma ho anche voglia di divertirmi. Avere Ale al mio fianco mi fa stare tranquilla, Mika mi fa sentire complice: sono privilegiata, mi divertirò con due persone che stimo e a cui voglio bene».

 

Alessandro: «Ed è importante per noi fare tutto per bene, avremo gli occhi del mondo addosso: sfatiamo il

falso mito che gli italiani non sappiano organizzare questo tipo di eventi».

 

Mika «Dovremo trovare il mix tra preparazione e scioltezza ed essere candidi e trasparenti. In tre sarà più facile arrivare a quell’energia. In uno show così “bombastico”, pieno di cose pazze, dobbiamo essere rassicuranti».

 

Quando mancheranno pochi minuti alla diretta, che consiglio vi darete?

 

Alessandro: «Avete fatto la pipi? Perché poi per tre ore…».

 

Mika: «Verifichiamo che non ci sia del prezzemolo tra i denti?».

 

Alessandro: «Se ce l’abbiamo tutti e tre diventa una scelta stilistica».

 

Mika: «Scherzi a parte, il consiglio è: parliamo dal cuore. Può succedere di tutto su quel palco, ma facendo così ne usciremo comunque bene».

 

E dopo questa avventura?

 

Alessandro: «Io un po’ di vacanza e poi… ho delle cose da sistemare…».

 

Laura: «Non lo può dire (ride)!».

 

Mika: «Fai uno show, Alessandro?».

 

Alessandro: «Te lo scrivo in chat...».

 

Laura: «Così Mika non lo saprà mai!».

 

E voi due, invece?

 

Mika: «Sto facendo la mia prima colonna sonora per un film: andrò nel deserto a registrare i suoni di alcuni strumentisti locali. E a settembre sarò finalmente in tour in Italia».

 

Laura: «Il 16 maggio compio gli anni quindi mi prendo un giorno libero, poi andrò subito in Florida per un concerto, ma tornerò in Italia per “Una. Nessuna. Centomila” (l’evento dell’11 giugno a Reggio Emilia contro la violenza sulle donne, ndr) e un concerto speciale per il mio fan club».

 

 

Dopo questa chiacchierata mi sono convinto che Mika, Ale e Laura siano una squadra fortissima. E non solo: che si vogliano davvero bene. Non è scontato, ed è una cosa che all’Eurovision di Torino farà la differenza. ■

I came back to MFC after a while. And its so great to see all the new Mika content
Iam so excited for him hosting eurovision, I watched it almost every year since i was a kid, so, i cant wait to actually see him on my TV screen and know that its in real time Also all the promo and pictures we are getting - just amazing.
I really hope this could help him get to be more known in other coutries in europe.

Just to add to this for anyone watching outside of Europe! : the BBC version will have Graham Norton commentating over it so some bits of Mika may be talked over (but his humour is 100% worth watching for!! I watch Eurovision every year just for his funny comments!!)

and I haven't checked the whole of this thread but I'm sure it has definitely been mentioned before, but Eurovision will have it streamed free on their youtube channel and this will be without a commentator too, so if you don't want anyone talking over it thats the one to go for! (The commentators are quite nice to have though to give some background to the artists and songs😊)

Yes, if you're using a VPN, I'd suggest trying to watch BBC's stream.

 

Unfortunately, the youtube stream won't work for us in the US, and a few other places as well -- I saw a list somewhere, but can't find it now.

I'll be watching on youtube on the train back home from Turin, but I'll definitely record the live show on German TV and watch that with my kids the next day! Very curious to hear what the German commentators will be saying about Mika - in the interview he claims they'll say bad things, but they'd better not or they'll get an angry e-mail from me!

È questa la settimana più attesa dell’anno, per chi ama la musica internazionale. E stavolta i protagonisti siamo proprio noi!

Éla splendida città di Torino ad ospitare l’Eurovision Song Contest 2022, ed è già tutto pronto per tre serate sensazionali che porteranno sul palco alcuni dei più grandi artisti europei del momento.

Nei prossimi giorni il capoluogo piemontese ospiterà tantissimi eventi presso l’Eurovision Village, è inutile dire che l’attenzione si concentrerà al Pala Olimpico, dove dal 10 al 14 maggio si terranno le tre serate del festival europeo della musica, condotte da tre presentatori d’eccezione: Mika, Laura Pausini e Alessandro Cattelan.
