By the way, when Mika's 2015 interview is quoted - in which he criticised Eurovision songs - Google Translator inaccurately translates "sono" with "I am" (it should be "They are", referring to the songs).

Yes google translator is always messing up pronoums :aah: like mistaking Mika for a woman using she :doh:

It was pretty long (1h more or less with songs and ads). He talked about Eurovision, the Italian tour, some funny anecdotes and something about future projects. He actually said he’s going to record Yo-yo music video from Thursday on and he’s going to be the director (together with a team) for the first time,  because the original director had “migration problems” and wanted to do everything on Zoom but it was too complicated.

Then he’s going to fly to NY for just one day, do some soundcheck for a “special” that they haven’t announced yet and finally coming back to Paris for other projects.

Ha ha ha! So many funny stories!!!! Mika is really a dream guest - he can entertain people for hours.

I was on the floor laughing when Mika told this story from yesterday late evening in the taxi.

He almost fell asleep and on the radio RTL 102.5 presented one of Mika songs. So the presenter shout: MIKA!

 

And Mika in a mask on the backseat: Yes!  

 

The driver turned his head but didn't realize what happened :lol:

Mika è stato ospite questa mattina a RTL 102.5 in “W L’Italia”. Artista famoso in tutto il mondo anche per le sue esibizioni che non sono solo concerti, ma arte pura. “C’è sempre un mondo intorno. È sempre stato così. Forse perché ho cominciato nel mondo dell’opera che è un mix”, ha detto Mika. “Ero giovanissimo, sono stato condizionato da quello. Quando entri in uno show deve essere un mondo artistico”.
 
Mika prepara i suoi spettacoli nel minimo dettaglio. “Lavoriamo sempre in squadra e fino all’ultimo momento stiamo cambiando tutti i particolari”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Facciamo tanto in casa, prima realizzavamo tutto in una cucina e ora in un atellier con un po’ di spazio in più. Non studio mai per le mie esibizioni, ma mi preparo tantissimo per poi dimenticare tutto e divertirmi. Bisogna saper perdere il controllo senza spaventarsi”.

MIKA E L’EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2022

Com’è andata quest’esperienza? “Molto bene. È una macchina enorme. Quando fai un programma televisivo ci sono un milione di persone che ti guardano, devi immaginare che fai un gesto e devi immaginare tutti i commenti che usciranno”, ha raccontato Mika. “Pensate che in quel momento duecento milioni di persone guardavano e tu in quel momento devi parlare, annunciare. Ogni gesto ha un valore. Avere l’idea che ci sono duecento milioni di persone che hanno un’opinione e che vogliono esprimerla, ti provoca ansia. Ci sono delle parti del tuo corpo che non riesci a controllare”.
È stato commentato anche il “Porca vacca” di Laura Pausini in diretta all'Eurovision. “Durante le prove Laura diceva ‘sixth’ e si spaventava”, ha detto Mika. “Fuori dal palco io le ho detto che andava bene, che se avesse sbagliato avrebbe dovuto divertirsi. Sostenere tutto il ritmo è stata una sfida: quando fai i reading ci sono quarantadue persone che hanno un’opinione, ma tu devi resistere”.
 
Durante l’Eurovision Song Contest, Mika ha cantato “Grace Kelly”. “Ho cominciato da un palco andando verso un pianoforte piccolissimo e mentre attraversavo il coro pensavo: ‘non cadere nella fontana, non cadere nel pianoforte’. Erano in piedi da due settimane per fare le prove, le gambe cominciavano a risentirne”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Se io fossi stato uno dei concorrenti con una canzone un po’ più debole, l’avrei fatto apposta a cadere nella fontana, così sarei diventato un meme. Ero convinto che uno di noi tre sarebbe finito nella cascata. Sapevo che il segreto di questa performance era che doveva essere un momento collettivo. Volevo far vedere che il palco poteva trasformarsi e che in Italia potevamo fare qualcosa di una qualità come negli Stati Uniti”.
 
Sul palco anche “Love Today”. “Ho lavorato su questa performance per quattro mesi. Ogni secondo è cronometrato. Ci sono dei vestiti miei che sono stati disegnati da una libanese, poi una signora che fa soltanto i vestiti da sposa ha fatto i ricami sulla mia camicia”, ha detto Mika. “I miei vestiti e oggetti scenici sono stati realizzati a Martina Franca, Beirut, Londra, Parigi, Milano, Brasile, Olanda e Nettuno”.
 
Mika ha cantato sul palco anche “Happy Ending”. “Fin da quando ero piccolo guardavo sempre questo show e la cosa iconica è che tutti arrivano con le proprie bandiere, nel pubblico ci sono tutte le bandiere dell’Europa. Mi sono detto che invece di fare un’unica bandiera, avremmo potuto chiedere a tutti quanti di alzare una bandiera bianca per la pace e per l’amore con un cuore rosso”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Abbiamo posizionato delle bandiere su ogni poltrona con un foglietto attaccato con tutte le istruzioni per il pubblico. Non avevamo provato niente, ma la cosa ha funzionato. Il giorno dopo a Torino c’erano tante persone con le bandiere. Il pubblico ha capito che era un momento collettivo e che loro facevano parte della performance. La cosa bella è che il pubblico ha deciso di farlo e poi è diventato un momento speciale”.
Durante l’esibizione c’era anche un gonfiamento di un cuore enorme. “Il cuore aveva undici metri di altezza, quattro metri di profondità. Era molto grande”, ha detto Mika. “Alla produzione RAI come l’ho spiegato? La scenografia mi ha difeso tantissimo. Il cuore è stato fatto in Olanda da specialisti di gonfiabili: tutto ciò che puoi immaginare, loro lo fanno. Avete notato i riflessi del cuore? Hanno richiesto tre settimane di discussione. Il cuore non è lucido, è tipo velluto, l’abbiamo realizzato in modo curato. Adesso ce l’ho io”.
Nel corso dell’intervista è andata in onda “We Are Golden”. “Il videoclip è stato girato in due giorni e un giorno di prove. Il regista è un grande del video”, ha raccontato Mika. “È stato molto stancante, non ho potuto camminare per tre giorni”.
 

MIKA – THE MAGIC PIANO

Mika tornerà in Italia con uno special tour che lo vedrà protagonista il prossimo autunno. Cosa possiamo aspettarci? “Emozioni molto intense. Nella prima serata saremo io, il pianoforte e il pubblico”, ha raccontato Mika. “Canterò acustico. La serata dopo sarà uno show spettacolare. Canterò all’Arena di Verona, dove non ho mai fatto un concerto. Reinventeremo un po’ lo spazio”.

CURIOSITÀ SU MIKA

L’arte accompagna Mika sin da quando era piccolo. “Quando avevo sette anni, mia madre entrava nel salotto e io le avevo riorganizzato tutti i mobili”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Lei mi chiedeva cosa stessi facendo e io le rispondevo che quello era uno show. Avevo il sogno di realizzare questi momenti, di creare uno show”.
 
Mika prepara scrupolosamente ogni suo evento. “La squadra è piccola ma noi ci impegniamo tutti. Se mi vedi due giorni prima della performance tu mi troverai in ginocchio sistemando delle cose, se vieni su un set sono lì a pitturare”, ha detto Mika. “Stiamo registrando un video di cui faccio la regia, siamo concentrati su ogni dettaglio. L’idea di sporcarti le mani è fondamentale, se non lo fai non capisci quello che stai cercando di fare: devi farlo con la tua squadra e con lo stesso spirito”.
 
Anni fa Mika aveva rivelato di raccogliere degli odori in delle boccette. “Adesso raccolgo i profumi. Ho un amico che fa dei profumi, sa che mi piacciono alcuni ingredienti”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Lui mi manda alcuni elementi. A casa ho due tavoli di profumi, sono un amante appassionato”.

GLI IMPEGNI DI MIKA

Mika ha davanti a lui un periodo ancora molto impegnativo. “Devo andare a New York per un giorno. Arrivo in aeroporto, faccio un soundcheck, dormo e registro uno special ancora non annunciato”, ha rivelato Mika. “Dopodiché arrivo a Parigi e faccio le prove per un altro progetto”.
 
Il ruolo di regista è nuovo per Mika. “Farò la regia per il mio nuovo video, è la mia prima volta. Avevamo un grandissimo regista che io adoro, poi lui ha avuto dei problemi di immigrazione: a un certo punto lui ha detto di voler fare la regia in videocall, ma noi dovevamo girare a Parigi e a Londra”, ha raccontato il cantante. “Io ho detto che non si poteva fare, per cui in ventiquattro ore abbiamo trovato una nuova idea. Sarò un regista, ma facendo un lavoro di squadra”.

MIKA AND THE EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2022

How did this experience go?

"Very good. It is a huge machine. When you make a TV show there are a million people watching you, you have to imagine that you make a gesture and you have to imagine all the comments that will come out, ”Mika said. “Think that at that moment two hundred million people were watching and you at that moment have to speak, announce. Each gesture has a value. Having the idea that there are two hundred million people who have an opinion and who want to express it, causes you anxiety. There are parts of your body that you cannot control ”.

 

Laura Pausini's “Porca vacca” was also commented live on Eurovision. "During rehearsals Laura said 'sixth' and she got scared," said Mika. “Offstage I told her she was okay, that if she got it wrong she should have fun. Sustaining all the rhythm was a challenge: when you do the readings there are forty-two people who have an opinion, but you have to resist ".

 

During the Eurovision Song Contest, Mika sang "Grace Kelly". "I started from a stage going towards a very small piano and as I crossed the choir I thought: 'don't fall into the fountain, don't fall into the piano'. They had been up for two weeks to rehearse, their legs were starting to suffer, ”said the singer. "If I had been one of the contestants with a slightly weaker song, I would have made it fall into the fountain on purpose, so I would have become a meme. I was convinced that one of the three of us would end up in the waterfall. I knew the secret of this performance was that it had to be a collective moment. I wanted to show that the stage could transform itself and that in Italy we could do something of a quality like in the United States ".

 

Also on stage "Love Today". “I have been working on this performance for four months. Every second is timed. There are some of my dresses that were designed by a Lebanese woman, then a lady who only makes wedding dresses did the embroidery on my shirt, ”Mika said. "My clothes and props have been made in Martina Franca, Beirut, London, Paris, Milan, Brazil, Holland and Neptune".

 

Mika also sang “Happy Ending” on stage. "Ever since I was little I have always watched this show and the iconic thing is that everyone comes with their own flags, in the audience there are all the flags of Europe. I told myself that instead of making a single flag, we could have asked everyone to raise a white flag for peace and love with a red heart, "said the singer. “We placed flags on each seat with a slip of paper attached with all the instructions for the audience. We hadn't tried anything, but it worked. The next day in Turin there were many people with flags. The audience understood that it was a collective moment and that they were part of the performance. The great thing is that the public decided to do it and then it became a special moment ”.

 

During the performance there was also a swelling of a huge heart. “The heart was eleven meters high, four meters deep. It was very big, ”Mika said. "How did I explain the RAI production? The scenography defended me a lot. The heart was made in Holland by inflatable specialists - whatever you can imagine, they do. Have you noticed the reflexes of the heart? It took three weeks of discussion. The heart is not shiny, it is velvet-like, we have made it carefully. Now I have it ".

 

During the interview, "We Are Golden" was broadcast. “The video clip was shot in two days and one day of rehearsals. The director is a great video, ”said Mika. "It was very tiring, I couldn't walk for three days."

 

MIKA - THE MAGIC PIANO

Mika will return to Italy with a special tour that will see him as a protagonist next autumn. What can we expect? “Very intense emotions. In the early evening it will be me, the piano and the audience ”, said Mika. “I will sing acoustic. The next evening will be a spectacular show. I will sing at the Verona Arena, where I have never given a concert. We will reinvent space a bit ".

 

CURIOSITY ABOUT MIKA

Art has accompanied Mika since he was little. “When I was seven, my mother walked into the living room and I rearranged all the furniture,” said the singer. “She would ask me what I was doing and I would tell her that this was a show. I had the dream of making these moments happen, of creating a show ”. Mika scrupulously prepares every event for him. “The team is small but we are all committed. If you see me two days before the performance you will find me on my knees fixing things, if you come to a set I'm there to paint ”, said Mika. “We are recording a video which I direct, we are focused on every detail. The idea of getting your hands dirty is fundamental, if you don't do it you don't understand what you are trying to do: you have to do it with your team and with the same spirit ". Years ago Mika revealed that she collected smells in bottles. “Now I collect the perfumes. I have a friend who makes perfumes, he knows I like some ingredients, ”said the singer. “He sends me some elements. At home I have two tables of perfumes, I am a passionate lover ".

 

MIKA'S COMMITMENTS

Mika still has a very busy period ahead of him. “I have to go to New York for a day. I arrive at the airport, do a sound check, sleep and record an as yet unannounced special, ”revealed Mika. “After that, I arrive in Paris and rehearse for another project”. The role of director is new for Mika. “I'll be directing my new video, it's my first time. We had a great director that I adore, then he had immigration problems: at a certain point he said he wanted to direct in a videocall, but we had to shoot in Paris and London ”, said the singer. “I said it couldn't be done, so in twenty-four hours we found a new idea. I will be a director, but doing a team effort ”.

Hmm, if it's in early August in one of the beach resorts, maybe I could book a spontaneous camping trip to Italy with my son... :naughty: I hope they'll announce more details soon, gotta start making plans for the holidays.
