Would love to get a transcript of the lyrics, if any of the Italian speakers has time for it.

Here's the lyrics (source: https://www.canzoniweb.com/bolero-testo-baby-k/)

E adesso tu

Ci pensi mai, a qualche anno fa?
Noi come luce e ombra

E mentre mi guardi come nessuno mi lasci andare
Sai farmi male, davvero

Ci pensi mai, a qualche anno fa?
Un bacio nella pioggia
Cosa ci fai, in quella città?
Io sono qui con Afrodite, fari, onde

Seguo solo un bagliore
Un soffio, una vibrazione
Balla bolero il cuore
E’ l’unica percussione

E’ l’unica percussione

Litteral EN translation:

I would still recognise you, even here
At the end of some nights, or with a scarf over my eyes
Your gaze was my mirror and I lived in it
Now we are a switched off lighthouse, in the most extreme darkness
And now you

Do you ever think about it, a few years ago?
Us as light and shadow
In the skyline of this city
I get lost with Aphrodite, lighthouses, waves

I only follow a flash
A breath, a vibration
The heart dances a bolero
It is the only percussion

All the summer that is missing
Is in a drop of wine that wets the lips
And where are you? Tell me
I'll wait for you where the sun meets the Leo
Without words, where is your name?
Find my name, the night moves us/let us move
And I'm left with the feeling
If the sun passes by it leaves me warm

Mm, tell me what scares you
And if the moon still climbs in your sky
If black and white is a shade
And as you look at me like no one, you let me go
You really know how to hurt me

Do you ever think about it, a few years ago?
Us as light and shadow
In the skyline of this city
I get lost with Aphrodite, lighthouses, waves

I only follow a flash
A breath, a vibration
The heart dances a bolero
It is the only percussion

All the summer that is missing
Is in a drop of wine that wets the lips
And where are you? Tell me
I'll wait for you where the sun meets the Leo
Without words, where is your name?
Find my name, the night moves us/let us move
And I'm left with the feeling
If the sun passes by it leaves me warm

If it was all wrong until yesterday
Start with a kiss, don't waste your breath
On my side and yours, forgetting each other is an art
And my heart is still as you left it

All the summer that is missing
Is in a drop of wine that wets the lips
And where are you? Tell me
I'll wait for you where the sun meets the Leo
Without words, where is your name?
Find my name, the night moves us/let us move
And I'm left with the feeling
If the sun passes by it leaves me warm

The heart dances a bolero
It is the only percussion

Litteral FR translation:

Et lorsque tu me regarde comme personne, tu m'as laissé partir
Tu sais vraiment comment me blesser

(I must admit the whole text doesn't make much sense in Italian and some parts aren't clear so I guess in the translations too :sweatdrop:

  • mellody changed the title to Bolero - Baby K feat. Mika

Thanks @virgi for finding and translating the lyrics! The way it is written / the expressions feel rather weird, but I heard somewhere recently (was that in a Mika interview?) that Italian lyrics are often in a very figurative language. And well, it's bittersweet, it's about a former summer love that ignores you now, I think? And with the dance music to the sad lyrics, that's actually typical for Mika. It's obvious he hasn't written it all himself, but I can see his "handwriting" (figuratively speaking :teehee:) in this song. At some point of the lyrics I felt reminded of a summer love from 20 years ago, I often thought about the guy before I met my husband, in a sort of "what could have been" way, and that's one of the emotions this song catches, from how I interpret it. (random fun fact, the guy's name was Andy :roftl:)

Ok I guess most people who hear Bolero will just dance to it and not care at all what the lyrics say, it's usually the same for me with songs in Italian or Spanish, it's just fun summer songs. :lmfao:  But it's nice to find something I can relate to in the lyrics, I like that.

I love that song :swoon:Happy summer song :wub2: The tune is lovely :original:

Their voices go well together and Mika's so sweet in Italian:mikalove:

It makes me happy :wub2:

The kind of song to listen to top loud when driving too fast to the beach with the windows open in the summer heat.

The lyrics seem to be sad I realize it now after listening to it all day long but only catching words and not the wh

ole meaning.

But we are used to that when it comes to Mika...

Anyway what a wonderful surprise Bolero is :wub2:

We are spoilt with new songs at the moment :cloud:

I have mixed feelings about the song. I definitely dig the summer vibes coming off the song, but it's also a bit of a mess. There's a lot going on in terms of instrumental sounds and effects. But yes, as Anne said, Mika sounds very cute in Italian. It's like Tant que j'ai le soleil, when he says soleil, it's truely the sweetest he's ever sound lol. It's why I prefer Staring at the Sun in French. Anyways, dancy song, summer moods. Would listen again.

Yes, "Bolero" makes you want to dance (not always crazy about the accompaniment tho) and I also agree that the melody is one of its strong features.  Most of the song  is easy to sing along with and the refrain (🎵Tutta l'estate che mancaaa 🎵 . . .) is great! 😊  But I think I still prefer "Yo Yo" (love the videos!).

Catchy, summery, makes me want to dance in an Italian beach bar while sipping a sundowner. 🥰 Not overly keen on the production, like Maaikie said there's a bit too much going on at times, but the mellody, rhythm and vocals are 👌

Still prefer his solo songs though. 😁

An interview with Baby K from TV Sorrisi e Canzoni

TV Sorrisi e Canzoni

N.27 - 28 Giugno 2022

PDF file TV Sorrisi e Canzoni N.27 - 28 Giugno 2022-45.pdf

My summer with Mika is a bolero!

The hit queen Baby K tells us about her surprising duet

NO, THE NEW SONG by Baby K doesn't start by mentioning her name and this already represents a big turning point compared to the past. After the success with the Boomdabash and their "Mohicans", the latest in an incredible list of hits, Claudia Nahum (this is Baby K's real name) this year decided to surprise us with "Bolero".

Why this choice?

"The truth? I was a bit bored! Making fresh, summery songs is still my priority, but I was afraid to repeat myself. So this year I decided to come back with something unique in terms of sound and content. Those who follow me know: I've never sung anything like it. "

How was the song born?

“I was with Dardust, producer of the single. He had already thought a little about the melody and when he made me hear it he kidnapped me. Among the ideas in the pipeline for this summer, I thought that “Bolero” best reflected my desire for change. It's always exotic, it's always summery, but it has a new flavor "

So Mika was called after?

"Much later, as soon as you finished the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. I watched it on enchanted TV, as a die-hard fan. Then the intuition: I thought that some parts of the song were perfect for him. I looked for him, I found him, I gathered some courage and I asked him ".

When did he say yes?

"About two minutes later I loved it."

What do you like most about Mika?

"Can I say ... everything? Personal history, his humanity, music of course. Like him, he comes from parents of mixed backgrounds, he knows many languages and loves to speak them, and above all he celebrates diversity by standing out from the crowd. He creates fashions ».

Speaking of diversity, she will also sing "Bolero" at Pride in Milan on Saturday 2 July.

«With the head and the heart they are already there. In 2019 I already sang at the Milanese Pride and it was a magical day: I had a rainbow-colored flag worn like a cloak. I sang in front of a crowd of wonderful people who made me feel special ».
