There will be no Monte-Carlo Gala in 2022

In view of the complicated international situation, the Prince Albert II Foundation is renouncing this year this charity event organized since 2017 which attracts international stars.

This year, the decision was made not to hold the MonteCarlo Gala due to the international crisis. It seemed reasonable to us to put it on hiatus at least this year in this context of war in Ukraine and international instability,” confirms Olivier Wenden. The vice-president of the Prince Albert II Foundation speaks for the choice made by the sovereign and the teams not to organize this gigantic charity evening at the end of September. Launched in 2017 to support the oceans and renamed in 2020 to raise funds for planetary health, the Monte-Carlo Gala has become in five years a highlight of Monegasque philanthropic life.

Do it differently

Also, many were waiting for details to find out when this evening would be held this year after a spectacular edition in 2021, orchestrated for the first time in the main courtyard of the Prince's Palace, with the magnetic presence of Sharon Stone. But also Mélanie Laurent, Orlando Bloom or the late Gaspard Ulliel.

“We felt that the gala was perhaps a little too showy in this difficult international climate,” adds Olivier Wenden. An understandable strategic choice in terms of image. But that can be problematic financially, given the five million euros raised during the 2021 edition, thanks to the guests gathered at the Prince's Palace. “We are going to do things differently”, adds the vice-president of the foundation, confirming that fundraising continues with “slightly more intimate, private events, carried by philanthropists who support the foundation and whom we thank because they help us. make it possible to avoid disruptions in the projects carried out and to continue to honor our commitments". And the commitments are vast for the foundation which, in 2021, validated 21 new projects to be supported around the world and which injected nearly 8 million euros into actions around marine and terrestrial biodiversity, climate change and environmental projects.

Two private events

If the Monte-Carlo Gala is no longer on the calendar for 2022 and could come in the future in a new form, this fall two more confidential events will replace it with a view to raising funds for the FPAII. The first is a dinner to be held in Monaco on October 1, at the Hermitage Hotel, in a Venetian atmosphere with a private concert by Mika for around a hundred guests.

The second will be an Ocean Ball, on October 28 in Singapore, with the support of the former consul of Monaco on site, Jacqueline Deromedi and her son Jean-Marc who will privatize the showrooms for the occasion Marina Bay Sands hotel, with an auction to finance projects in Asia.

Niente vendita all’asta di prestigio dunque?

A COUPLE OF ITALIAN PATRONS FOR "DREAMING IN AZUR" IN FAVOR OF THE FPA2 IN MONACO

Everything is ready for the evening in favor of the Prince Albert II Foundation "Dreaming in Azur" on Saturday 1 October, where the special Guest will be the singer Mika to invite an Italian couple Filippo and Daniela Ghirelli from "The Venetian Arts Foundation".

Olivier Wenden, vice-president and CEO of the Foundation explains:

"We had decided at the beginning of the year, due to serious current events, that it did not seem appropriate to organize the Monte-Carlo Gala, we opted for smaller and more discreet events".

So no parade of stars from the world of cinema, sport and fashion but an evening in the presence of S.A.S. Prince Albert II, at the Hotel Hermitage on Saturday 1 October.

"The idea for the evening - adds Wenden - came to a couple of Italians residing from 2020, Daniela and Filippo Ghirelli of The Venetian Arts Foundation, and they invite you to this evening, whose benefits of the dinner will go to FPA2".

No sale at the prestigious auction then?

“No no sales but a great music star guest, the singer Mika“.

Filippo Ghirelli, for you who is one of the main European investors in the sustainability sector, Executive Chairman of Genera Group, I think it seemed absolutely normal, once you come to settle in Munich, to want to support the FPA2?

"Yes, of course, the relationship with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation stems from the particular closeness to sustainability issues and, therefore, with my wife Daniela we decided to promote the Dreaming in Azur evening, where two queen cities, Monaco and Venice, unite to aggregate the forces to support and safeguard the seas that unite the two cities ".

Everything is ready for this prestigious evening, which will bring together only 120 guests, who will taste the delicacies that will be proposed by Chef Yannich Alleno.

The artistic direction of the evening is entrusted to Antonia Sautter, Venetian costume designer, well known throughout the world for her amazing costumes of the Venice carnival but not only. For the evening the atmosphere will be Venetian and the show will be titled

“The Doge's dance“.
