Some shows are more chilled and intimate, this one was WILD and ENERGETIC to the extreme. The comeback of the wings was a great highlight, still so many high points it is difficult to pick them. I do not think the concert could have been better 💜

Oh my, what a gig! :cloud:My final time seeing Mika live this year (unless I win the lottery...) but it was even more energetic and explosive than any of his gigs I've seen! It was extra special because my friend came along to see him for the first time - she came away saying that, while every song wasn't something she would listen to herself, he was absolutely amazing live, and the vibes were fantastic...and wanted to know where he got all his energy from 🤣🤣

I had some lovely toilet queue chats with people who were all so excited to see him. He really had everyone's hearts last night! 🤩 I also felt it was incredibly emotionally charged. I got talking to one young lad who told me he came out to one of Mika's songs...he spent the whole concert in tears and living his absolute best life with his partner. I didn't get to speak to him at the end of the night, but really hope he was OK 🫶

I'm yet to go through my videos (filter out my terrible singing) but here are a few pics 😀 And no, I will never recover from the wings!! :jawdrop:

Brighton Pride day 2: Mika and S Club close Brighton Pride 2024

The final day of Brighton Pride went out with a bang as thousands partied the weekend away to Mika's mesmerising soundtrack.

Crowds coming from across the world donned their best sparkly outfits for Pride's Fabuloso festival last night.

It was a nostalgic trip back to some of our favourite hits of the last three decades with S Club and Gabrielle also on the main stage's bill for the evening.

Pride flag picnic blankets were a regular sight on the ground inside Preston Park, where the festival was being held, as friends and families young and old gathered together to celebrate the biggest weekend in Brighton's calendar.

Lebanese multi-instrumentalist Mika took to the stage at 8.30pm with plenty of energy for his set which lasted until 10pm - with a fireworks display to close the festival.

The crowd loved the smooth-talking white-suited musician, known for his hits Grace Kelly and Relax, Take it Easy, and Mika loved them - bringing them into his performance with lots of to-and-fro.

An unsuspecting member of the audience even got a kiss from Mika, real name Michael Penniman Jr, soon before he jumped down into a squealing crowd to sing amongst them.

With that, Pride came to an end on such a high. The clean-up operation has already begun but our pictures and memories will be here for years to come.

Ahhhh I’ve only heard and read fantastic things about this gig (oh Mika, you are so unhinged stealing that guy’s sunglasses :lol3:), hope he will do more Pride events in the future! But most of all: every day is Pride, because one should always be proud, so I would love to see it at any gig in the future!! :partytime:

Wow wow wow! Brighton Pride was fabulous and so was Mika! He truly gave everything on and off stage, so much energy! You could tell he was happy and proud to be there. The crowd absolutely loved him. Streamers and sparklers and lasers and fireworks and Brighton jacket and iconic wings and flower piano AND wing rainbow piano! It was glorious! 🤩😍🥳

He talked a lot, about his experience of coming out, his family, song inspirations, and the importance of love and celebrating it in all it's forms. He did all this with his usual warmth, honesty and humour, but also with a determined fierceness inside. It was wonderful to see. 😍❤️

Funny moments - borrowing the guy's "kiss me" glasses and paying him with a kiss 😍

- forgetting the words in Popular 🤣

- interacting with a guy in the crowd making "foghorn" noises with his mouth.. 🤣

- confessing to once puking on a whirly spinning wheel (Ferris Wheel) when he was younger, and wishing luck to anyone riding the one in the park. 🤭

It was awesome, I hope he gets to do more Pride events in future. ❤️

My photos are mostly awful (he moves so fast!) but I'll update later if I find a good one.

Next fan action: everyone in the audience wearing that type of glasses :glasses3:

I have already this sort of glasses since last year but I never dared to put them on during Mika gig. They stayed in my bag.

Anyway Mika wouldn't like to kiss me for sure 😜

A couple of videos. Please excuse the screaming and bad singing, but it's not my fault, Mika made me do it. 🙈😆

The end of Happy Ending. You can hear how much the crowd was into it.

Relax jump with wings

After being covered in streamers at the end of Big Girl.

End of Lollipop. Just remembered he gave a talk during this. Best quote:

" I will suck too hard on my lollipop" 🤭

Brighton Pride organisers praise 'weekend of joy'

The organisers of Brighton & Hove Pride 2024 have described the event as a "weekend of joy and celebration".

About 300,000 people attended the parade which wound its way through the city.

This was followed by two days of concerts in Preston Park, headlined by Girls Aloud and Mika.

A spokesperson said the event "brought music, culture and joy in abundance for another spectacular year".

A statement described it as "a weekend packed full of campaigning, protest and celebration in equal measure".

Mika told the crowd on Sunday evening that Brighton felt like his "first ever proper Pride concert" of his career.

He also said that he had moved to live just outside Brighton only days before getting the call to perform at Pride.

Earlier in the day, S Club took to the stage and had the crowd singing along to all their hits.

Girls Aloud were the headline act on Saturday night, with Olly Alexander joining them on the stage.

Brighton Rainbow Fund was the main recipient of the £1.3m which was raised at Pride for charity.

Chris Gull, its chair of trustees, told BBC Radio Sussex the money it got from Brighton Pride was "absolutely vital".

On Saturday Alf le Flohic helped lead the Pride Parade through the city.

He said: "There was a lot of shouting and cheering. It was very special."
