As Mika has posted his first stories of the new year, I thought I'd start a social media updates thread for 2025. His stories were just reposts from El Piano, so they're on the respective thread:

As a rule of thumb, in this thread we post original content by Mika from his social media channels, for example if he films himself for a story, or writes a text about something. If he just reposts something about one of his projects / concerts, it's better to put that in the thread about the project / concert, if there is one. You can link to it here then if you think it could be interesting (for example when he hasn't posted for a while or if he's reposting MFC or MFCers ).

Even if we can't hear much, I love that he lets us know that he's working on new music!

Apparently he wanted to wait with posting til we opened a 2025 thread.

I don't think the words belong to the song, I think someone in the mixing room was just starting to speak while Mika was recording. So it's only a little guitar part, not even sure I'd recognize what song it belongs to, once the album is out.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's even Mika speaking, but the voice says, "are you still friendly with...?" so definitely not part of the song. If it's even a song, and not just someone playing a few chords.

I guess normally I could post this in the Mika is missing thread, but as we can hear another music snippet in that story, I thought I'd post it here, as context to Mika's stories.

For Origin Of Love he worked with Nick Littlemore in Montreal, so maybe he's there working for his new album

Interesting that they're working with church organs. He said in an interview that he was/would be working with choirs too. 

 

Are we getting a spiritual/choral inspired album? He's always loved choirs, he finds group singing moving, and it would lead on from his work on the Zodi & Tehu soundtrack, and the piece he did for the installation at the abbey. He also said he didn't think he'd achieved anything completely beautiful (I disagree, but it's his artistic viewpoint). Maybe to him that would be choral music?

It immediately made me think that there might be songs about religion again. That's been a topic in a lot of his music of course and expressing that musically as well could be cool. Just a thought

Me too, when I have heard this little snippets of music shared on Instagram, I have thought about a church song or symphony concert, I don't know why, perhaps because there is an organ. I have thought about a new soundtrack, too. 

Who knows what he has in mind! 

Everything is always a surprise with him.
