Mika: 'Love Today'

Released on Monday, April 16 2007

By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter

Is there any point even attempting to criticise Mika at the moment? His Life In Cartoon Motion album's already topped the charts; 'Grace Kelly' is still dominating the airwaves like the love-child of Chris Evans and Russell Brand and last time a critic took a pop at the Lebanese upstart, guess what happened? Brian May stepped in to call the sceptical scribe a "nasty, grubby, spotty, unusually ignorant 15-year-old creep". Ouch.

Luckily for Digital Spy's relationship with hirsute members of the pomp rock aristocracy, 'Love Today' is a great single. Its rhythm track sounds like a galloping horse; its chorus sounds like a lost disco classic and Mika's vocals sound like helium was on tap in the recording studio. Remember the boundless sense of fun the Scissor Sisters used to radiate? Mika's picked it up and run with it.

then

I also found this, not sure whether it has ben posted before but it expresses exactly what I felt when I heard the remix (don't share the author's other views about Mika though!!!!!!!!!), apart from that I uttered a few words that are not quite suitable to repeat here....

So this too made me smile with delight that someone felt like me..

Love Today (Patrick Wolf Remix)

“I said, everybody’s gonna love today, gonna love today, gonna love today”

Mika’s recent arrival on the Pop scene was greeted by uncertainty from my ears. Was he a gloriously camp Pop pixie or an over the top, irritating, derivative, poor man’s Scissor Sister. I decided he was the latter.

Then I purchased this 10″ because the genius hands of Mr Patrick Wolf had touched it. He’s taken the Mika track and rubbed it’s shiny face in the dirt of cut-up, glitchy Electroclash. Very little of the original remains, a blessing I thought, but then I listened to the original for comparison. I found myself dancing about, failing to sing along to Mika’s stupidly high falsetto, and pretending to play along with the furious Art-Rock Guitars. God-damn-it Mika rules, curse you Patrick Wolf you’ve made me loose all semblance of musical decency.

Since this is a promo only Remix and I don’t think it’s going to get an official release, I’ve uploaded it for your musical pleasure (Check Ebay if you want the physical thing):

Ah, very nice!!

I like the way the first article starts! :bleh:

ot's so true, both critics write this in such an imaginary way, that's what appeals to my grazy (sorry Nicole but I love it) braincells!
