Happy-go-lucky boy pop.

A Lebanese-American refugee named Mika Holbrook Penniman fled from his birthplace, Beirut, to Paris for better days. Education at a snazzy music school ensured performances ranging from opera to pop music.

Now called Mika, he has unleashed a debut album via London recording studios.

The opener, Grace Kelly, is the first single and its quirky sing-along lyrics are delivered with a fun, high-pitched chorus.

Mika sings in the opener: "I tried to be like Grace Kelly. But all her looks were too sad. So I've tried a little Freddie. I've gone identity mad!"

It's immediately uplifting.

Overall, the sound is reminiscent of Robbie Williams and Mika has also been likened to Freddie Mercury.

He still has a long way to go before reaching the magnitude or commercial success of either of these two artists, though.

Charismatic deliveries include Any Other World, a sweet tune that exhibits angelic backing vocals. Big Girl (You are Beautiful) is an homage to slightly more than curvaceous girls.

Musical influences include early dance, disco and '80s pop. The kids are gonna dig this.
