Music in your country

OK so I was thinking- since we already have all these interesting threads about how to say I love you in your language and similar ones where we can find out something else about countries that maybe we could have a thread about music that's popular in yours countries.

We're gathered from all over the world and we obivously love music so it'd be fun to know who/which is your favourite singer/band from yours country and who's the most popular one?

(I already know the answer about favourite singer from those from England:naughty: )

BTW...I'm sorry if there's already a thread like that.:blush-anim-cl:

MIKA obviously lol...

other big names are Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Girls Aloud, McFly.....

but I'm a fan of Japanese Music really, and my faves are Koda Kumi and Morning Musume. I know more J-Pop artists, but i'm a fan of these two :D

uhmm, let me think...if you look at the gigs in Italy Vasco Rossi ALWAYS makes sold-out. And Laura Pausini (which maybe some of you have heard of) is very successful too. We also have young bands who reach the top, but they last 1 year, max 2 and then disappear.

Then american hip hop singers too.

I have no idea! I haven't listened to Canadian radio since I stopped driving 3 years ago. I only listen to Capital FM in London and BBC Radio 1.

I'm going to the Virgin Festival in Toronto in September but it's almost all British acts. Looking forward to seeing Paolo Nutini, Amy Winehouse, The Killers and Arctic Monkeys there.

I think Mika is doing quite well here. LICM was released in late February and it was #2 the week of March 21 when he played in Toronto and Montréal. I noticed it's climbing back up the charts again now that Love Today has been released.

CLOUSEAU!!!! A band I'm fan off from when they started.. so my entire life!! they're as old as i am lol! they've been around for so long!

it's hard for me to pick a song, so i just took one of their recent ones: Vonken en vuur

(normally they're a bit more ballad-like and they're great live! love them)

DAAN!!!! I think his most famous song is "swedish designer drugs" so...

(he's also great live!!!)

HOOVERPHONIC!!!! Gotta love that band! They were more famous in the US than they were in our country! My favorite song: Eden (they have a song on the "a lot of love" soundtrack --> mad about you, second favorite ;))

OK, so I start a thread and then I forget to say how is in my country.:biggrin2:

Definitely the most popular and famous band is Siddharta.

their first hit-

My fav band is Big Foot Mama...I listened to them all the time when I was about 15 or 16...I still like them a lot.:punk: They're really awesome!

this is the song I absolutely adore...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqIFeFO_sx0

I don't have any fav singer in Slovenia...to be honest, they all pretty much suck (thank god for Mika:bleh: )and I can't remember any right now so maybe I'll add some later (if I remember of course).

TheBlackQueen-you just add more of them. I love spanish music...it seems that no song can be bad if it's sang in spanish language.:blush-anim-cl:

music in my country is LAME.

well most of it. atleast some of it's ok.

but where i live the people my age all listen to music that screams at you, when they go out for fun the go to shows where the lead singer screams at you then says "i've got such a headache!" well maybe you should stop thrashing around and screaming. hhaha. sorry it just really doesn't make sense to me! but if it's what they like...:thumb_yello:

Oh wow, that's awful... I listened to like 20 seconds of it and had to click out of it! :roftl: Luckily, in my part of the US people don't really listen to stuff like that. Mostly, they listen to hip hop and rap, country, and their own band 'cause just about EVERYONE has their own band! It's so annoying, lol. People always come up to me and say hey, check out our band! and I'd really like to say no, you're band is horrible but I wouldn't want to crush their dreams 'cause I'm sure they'd really care what someone like me who is musically challenged has to say! :roftl:
