  1. Aww. No offers for my tickets. :(

Guess they'll just go to waste. Such a shame. I was really hoping I could have given them to someone.

Not much posting in this thread...hoping that will change after tomorrow night! :) Since I can't be there I must read all of the reviews!!

    Have fun everyone...although I'm sure you will!!:D

  2. Hello everyone!

I haven't really kept up with the posts here in months.

I planned on going to the at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia,PA this Thursday night but something came up and now I'm not able to go. :(

I am pretty disappointed about it but I'm sure there will be other shows.

I know it may be a short notice for some. But I do have 2 tickets . So I thought I would make a post to see if I get responses.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who is interested please send a PM my way so we can make arrangements. I'm willing to overnight the tickets. But I'll have to do that tomorrow. So let me know! I don't want other Mika fans to miss out.

  3. Hey everyone!

I haven't really kept up with the posts here in months.

Some of you guys going to this show may have remembered me from the D.C. show last June or even Mika's show in NYC last March.

Anyway, I planned on going to this at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia,PA this Thursday night but something came up and now I'm not able to go. :(

I am pretty disappointed about it but I'm sure there will be other shows.

I know it may be a short notice for some. But I do have 2 tickets that I am willing to sell for practically nothing or give away. I paid $25 for each but I'm will to sell both for only $30 or even less than that. I'll even. I'm not really trying to make much of a profit I just don't want the tickets to go to waste. So I thought I would make a post to see if I get responses.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who is interested please send a PM my way so we can make arrangements. I'm willing to overnight the tickets. But I'll have to do that tomorrow. So let me know! I don't want other Mika fans to miss out.

Oh and I also posted this in the "extra ticket thread" too!

I hope everyone who is going to this show has a blast!!:punk:

  4. I'm sneaking online for a few minutes while I'm at work to show you guys these! :naughty:

I finally got them uploaded. I'm wondering if I should also post them on youtube or not. My personal favorite clip is the Sweet Dreams one. ;)

You could not tell at all that Mika was a bit under the weather!

I think the sound on the clips are a bit weak though, unfortunately. Plus my hand is a little shakey since I was so nervous about being caught!

I need to write out my entire report/review of the show. I plan on typing up a really long post in my livejournal like I did for the other show I went to. I don't think I ever posted that here though. But it's there if by some crazy reason you wish to read it, you may. lol

  5. wow lissy! they're really good!! how could you do that when it wasn't allowed? woa, i'm impressed.

Aw thank you!:) Well, when the guards were checking my bag they didn't even notice my camera. It was hidden on the bottom of my purse. And when they were asking for camera checks I pretended I didn't have a camera. And once we got inside and the show finally started I carefully took my camera out and quickly took a few pictures.

kk448 First of all, many thanks to everyone who posted reports/pictures! It made feel better since I was kinda down already about having to wait so long for another concert! By the way, was Mika wearing glitter during the concert 'cause he was during ours, and I LOVED IT!

He was wearing glitter! I loved it too!!

The underwear was definitely orange. And I suspect spandex maybe or at the very least stretchy? I don't know but it didn't look like cloth to me...not that I was looking...

  6. Warning... VERY LONG!

So... JackViolet did such a good job with describing the events

leading up to the show and the show...

Not sure I can add anything, but I won't let that stop me :naughty:

My neighbor and I got to the club at around 5.

Around 5:45ish it started rain. Then it started to POUR.

Thunder and lightning, cats and dogs type of rain. Ugh.

Eventually, the club took pity on us and let

us in to the basement bar area. They checked our

ID and told us NO CAMERAS, although they

didn't do a thorough job of checking for them...

but later if they saw you had a camera, they made

    you check it.

Doors were supposed to open at 7:30; they had us wait

forever downstairs -- it must have been at least 8 p.m. when they

    finally let us upstairs.

Finally got upstairs and got right at the front of the

stage. We didn't care about being in the center,

because it was a TINY stage! I had no idea it would

be so small! So we stood in front where Martin/Luke

    would be.

I had gotten separated from my friend, so went to look

for her and stumbled across where they were selling

merchandise. Of course I had to buy a tee-shirt --

and Mirtilla, I got your rosette! I hope it's not too

crumbled! (And Lissy, I bought a new one for you --

I think that with the rain etc. I pretty much

destroyed the one you loaned me! So I'll get the

    new one to you somehow!)

While I was waiting to buy my stuff, who should

approach me but Lollipop Girl! I was so stunned,

    I blurted out, "Oh, I'm so happy you're here, I can't

wait to hear you sing Happy Ending!" She looked shocked

and tried to stay in Lollipop Girl character -- I apologized

for blowing her "cover," and told her that tootch had a

stuffed Chew Chew to give Mika, which horrified her! LOL!

I pointed in the general area of where tootch was and she

went to look for her. When I got back, Lollipop Girl was

there, admiring Chew Chew, since he wasn't trying to

    steal her lollipops. Very cute.

Opening act was a very good singer named Sarah Bareilles

-- really, she had quite a voice, the only problem was she

was Not Mika. Otherwise I quite enjoyed her very short

    set.

She was only on for a half-hour, then after a half-hour

break -- it was MIKA TIME!

He bounded on the stage around 9:30 and ran through the

show pretty much as he has done for all his previous

shows... started with Relax, followed by Big Girl,

then a few slower tunes, I think Any Other World

and My Interpretation? Fuzzy on the order, but

it was the usual set that he's been doing, as far as I

could tell, except I felt they were rather rushing through --

not talking much between songs at all. Just boom,

boom, boom, one right after the other.

The show itself was great, despite that -- he's

an amazing showman, and getting better

all the time. And yes, we were standing

in such a fantastic spot. A few times he came

right over and leaned down toward us -- made

this old heart go pitty-pat. :blush-anim-cl:

But I did think you could tell his energy level was

a little lower than usual, especial during Sweet Dreams

and Love Today -- neither was quite as wild as we've

seen in some recent videos that shall go unnamed :naughty:

But this is not a complaint at all! It was still a

wonderful, fantastic show and I loved every minute

    of it!

When the band came out dressed as animals for

    Lollipop, we

could see Mika's green pants peeking out from the

cow costume, and there was a new (at least to me)

character -- Martin as PIGLET! (If you know that I'm a

Disney fan, too, you'll know why I was so excited at that!)

We were standing by both the bubble machine and the

confetti canons, and once the bubbles started I was

getting blasted with sticky soap until one of the

stagehands noticed and moved it (thank you!)

and the whole place was an amazing flurry of

confetti, bubbles and giant ballons! You have to

experience it to know how much fun that was!

It was all over by 10:30.

Then we had to figure out where to hang out to meet Mika

and the gang -- we all had gifts for them.

As I said in an earlier post, it was very confusing, no one

knew what to tell us, until tootch spotted Jerry

and he so kindly brought us all upstairs.

We had to wait while Mika talked to some press, then

there were a few other people waiting, then he came

and spoke with us. For ages. Individually and as a

    group. Took photos, signed

autographs, chatted and chatted, told us he actually

has a chest infection and that he really shouldn't have

performed, the doctor told him not to... You could

hear it when he spoke, he coughed now and then and

could tell something was going on. But despite that

he was as nice and patient and kind as could be.

mgpm showed him the miniscrapbook she had assembled

with all of our pages, and he looked at it in detail,

marveling over JackViolet's drawings (and they were

impressive, believe me!). And loved tootch's gift,

but I'll let her tell about that (she's driving back home

today -- hopefully she'll be online later to share!).

I had seen Martin dash out earlier, and I guess he

never came back -- I think I overheard someone

say he wasn't 100 percent well, either? And then

at one point when we were speaking with Mika,

I noticed Luke poke his head out from a side

room, but then he never reappeared again, to my

dismay :( Also Mika's mum and sister both passed

through and left while we were still chatting

with him. :( again. But I did have a nice few

minutes with Mikey and Cherisse -- and was surprised

to find that Cherisse really is shorter than I am! That's

    a rare thing for me!

    So eventually we dragged ourselves

away so that somebody else could have a chance.

    *sigh*

It was great, just fantastic. I'm sure

there are things I've forgotten, so I'll be

anxious to read any other reports!

    And I can't believe it's over...

    Everybody's gonna love today

    Anyway you want to

    Anyway you've got to

    Love, love me

    Love, love me

I just got a chance to read your review, Deb! It's so detailed. I love it! I had forgotten some details. I'm so ecstatic that you and the rest of the fan club all got to meet Mika!! I'm not going to lie, I wish I wasn't so shy and tagged along with you guys too though. :(Oh well. Next time I'll have to be braver.

Oh and you don't worry about the rosette I gave you! Mine got a little wet from the rain too.

  7. My friend has the lollipop dance on his phone. How do you upload video? I probably had close to a hundred pictures (alot of good ones too we were like 3 rows from the stage in the right/center) but I had to delete them at the end.

Aw the encore was so amazing! I wish I was brave enough to capture part of it. I know if I wasn't so afraid of getting my camera taken away I could have taken incredible shots like I did at the first show I went to in NYC in March. I was directly in the front on the right side of the stage too! I probably remember seeing you, I think. You may have been the guy who warned me and the girl standing next to me about the camera situation. If so Thanks a lot!! I did not want to be kicked out or punished especially since I came alone.

I'm not sure how to upload video if the video is on a cell phone. Mine are on my camera and all I have to do is upload the files to my computer and then I upload the clips directly to youtube or photobucket.

  8. I'm uploading my pictures and video clips now! Hopefully I can get them posted this afternoon before I have to go to work...if not you guys will have to wait until later tonight. :)

I only managed to snap 19 photos. I felt a little guilty sneaking photos and video clips. But I just really wanted something (a visual aid) to remember the show by. Some of the pictures came out a little blurry since I wasn't using my flash but it's better than nothing!

I really wish I could have taken a picture that showed all of the glitter Mika was wearing on his arms! It was a nice touch!

I took a very small clip during the end of Billy Brown. It's the part where everyone shouts man! It's a favorite of mine. lol I also took a clip of Stuck In The Middle and Sweet Dreams.

  9. I haven't had a chance to read everyone else's reviews or comments yet...

The show was incredible!! It was a little different than when I saw him back in March. It's interesting and exciting to see the show progress and eventually expand even more.

I loved meeting a few MFC-ers! Everyone was so kind and friendly. I'm sorry I didn't really chat with everyone as much as I wanted too. I can be so shy sometimes. That was probably the reason why I didn't linger too long after the show with you all. I knew you'd get to meet Mika and I'm really happy that dream came true for all you guys! :)

Anyway, it was great meeting hootchatootch, dcbeb, and briefly JackViolet, and mgpm. I know I'm forgetting a few people...there was a lot going on last night. Hootchatootch was so kind to hand out those flashing heart necklaces. I really wasn't expect it! Mine stopped working before the show though. :( I saw Deb's poster and it looked amazing only I didn't get a chance to sign it but it's alright.

I had an excellent spot on the right side of the stage right in front of Michael! I was so nervous but I did sneak a few pictures and couple video clips. I was trying to be stealthy. But when I found out people were being kicked out and pictures were asked to be deleted I stopped and just enjoyed the show. I should have them uploaded later tonight.

I didn't get a copy of the set list this time but it's totally fine. I got one at the last show and it's only fair if others got a copy this time. But I did take a picture of it so I could remember the order of the songs.

I'll write more later! I'm not sure what else to say at the moment. I need to go back and read everyone else's reviews/experiences first!

  10. Today is the day!!!:D

I'm leaving for DC soon. Can't wait to see you all there!!

    Edit:

I finally figured out what I'm wearing...nothing extravagant or crazy. lol. I'll just be wearing jeans and a green tank top with a white jacket type thing over top and my Mika rosette of course! I was going to wear a pink tank top but then, well you know, gotta be green. ;)

  11. It's been a few days since I've checked this thread or MFC. I've been a little busy!

I completely can't wait for tomorrow night!!! I can't believe the show is so close now.:D

I plan on being at the 9:30 club around 4-4:30pm. But I'll be in DC actually before then.

I still have no clue what I'm going to where though. lol

I can't wait to see you all there!!

    :biggrin2:

  12. The show is in just two weeks!!

    I'm going insane!!

    I can't wait!!

About the smoking...I don't think it's only at the bars. When I was there in October (this was several months ago though) people around me were smoking. It was being blown in my face. I almost couldn't stand it. Cigarette smoke is disgusting. Luckily the smokers ended up leaving the front early on and I wasn't bothered through the whole show.

I'm hoping there will be no barriers for Mika. I'm sure it varies with the artists who are performing but the past couple of times I've been to the club no barriers were seen. So I guess we'll have to wait and see!:biggrin2:

  13. I finally got my ticket situation sorted out. I'm guaranteed a ticket held for me at the box office on the day of show since I already paid. I should have just chosen that option to begin with. Oh well. I'm so relieved! Now I really can't wait for the show!!

I've been to the 9:30 club a couple of times and it is a very good venue. It can hold roughly 1200 people but there is an upstairs area (the balcony) and the downstairs area (the pit). The stage of course is located in the pit/standing room area as well as the bars and merchandise tables. Many people I've noticed actually prefer watching the show from the balcony. I never have...I like to be as close to the stage as possible. And I know we all want to be close to the stage area when it comes to Mika.:naughty:

At the last show I went to at the 9:30 club back in October for Jamie Cullum, I was in the very front. There were no barriers or gates blocking me from the stage. So, I was able to lean forward onto the stage and lay my purse and jacket in front of me. I could probably have even touched Jamie's foot if I were brave enough. That's how close I was. It was really amazing and comfortable! I hope to get the same view/position this time around.

As far as cameras/pictures I know they are normally allowed at the 9:30 Club as long as they are not professional photographer cameras. I think their policy mostly depends on the artists' request. Videos aren't permitted but I was sneaky and took couple at the last show I went to so I'm hoping I can do the same.

Aw the scrapbook idea sounds great! But I'm afraid I won't have time to make something. I don't even know what I would write. I just hope I can meet him afterwards and thank him in person for a wonderful night.:wub2:

  14. Thanks so much for the very kind offer! I would love to wear it! If they have them on sale there (or they turn up on ebay again before June), I'll buy my own, but jic, it's nice to know that you have a spare :)

That's what I was afraid -- that the area around the club was a bit dodgy.

Well, unless Mika does make a point of trying to get us to dress up, I probably won't do anything too eccentric... So we'll wait and see! :thumb_yello:

Did you get your tickets YET???

    dcdeb

It's been a few days since I checked the forums. This thread was all the way on the third page. People are still buzzing about the Brighton show. I hope we all get to hear some covers in DC!! I'm even more excited for the show now.

I'm happy to loan a rosette to a fellow MFC-er. I know you'd be thrilled to wear it.:) I'm sure they will be for sale at the show. I wonder if there will be any more merch? I'd love a poster or something along those lines. My walls are pretty much covered with posters at the moment but I'd make room for Mika.:naughty:

I STILL haven't received my tickets yet. I keep making the mistake of saying "tickets" as to suggest I ordered more than one. I didn't. I'm going to this show alone and only purchased one ticket. I thought for sure that since I had a small order it would be here long before now. I'm still not worried though. There is still plenty of time before the show. Like I said if my ticket doesn't arrive by the beginning of June: panic. Tickets.com customer service keeps assuring me not to worry and that I will get it no later than two days before the show. But that is really cutting it close. It's already paid for and I do have my order slip/receipt for proof of purchase.

  15. Lissy, did they have them on sale there? I tried to buy a couple on ebay,

but someone bought all *36* that were up for sale before I had a chance!

I'd really like one of those, even though I should have a MFC button in the mail soon...

Me too! And I'm still on the fence about how I'll dress... I'd like to be

outrageous, but as I said in another thread... I don't think I can walk

around the city in a wild get-up -- I don't think the area's that safe to

    begin with :wink2:

And besides, there is that whole "act your age" voice whispering in my head...

But we'll see... I could be convinced, especially if Mika requests that we dress wild and crazy :)

    dcdeb

dcdeb, they were selling the rosette badges at the Gramery Theatre show. It was the cheapest merchandise there! The badges were only $5. They did have a couple shirt designs but they were $35 each....a little too expensive for me at the time. I ended up buying two rosette badges. Perhaps I should have bought more? I didn't know they were selling so fast one ebay! Wow. 35 all sold at one? The badges are very cool. I expected them to be popular. I just didn't think they would be that popular.

I can't wait to wear mine to the show!!

Since I do have an extra badge, would you like to wear it? It would be a loan. I bought two just in case something happened to one. :wink2:

I'm sure they will be selling them at this gig though too.

    ----------------

About the dress...it would be a lot of fun to dress up! Especially if Mika makes it a competition for the US gigs as well. I'd would love to see people get really into it - especially dressing up like some of the characters. But the area around the 9:30 club is a little shady. There are enough strange people out and about. I wouldn't want to draw more attention to myself. Not that I'm that strange or anything. lol I'm sure I'll probably end up wearing jeans and a cute top along with my rosette!

    :naughty:

  16. OK, the DC show is just 40 days away -- :woot_jump:

So for those of us planning to go... are we going to try to meet up beforehand? Dress up or do anything special? (Oh, please nothing too artsy -- I am SO not artistic! LOL!)

Anyhow... I'm way excited and just wanted to chat a bit about the show and possibilities. Let me know what y'all are thinking! :biggrin2:

    dcdeb

I'll probably wear my blue rosette that I bought at the Gramercy Theatre show back in March!:)

I definitely don't think I'll dress up special or anything. I'm not one to draw a lot of attention to herself...but I completely admire those who do.

I honestly can't wait for the show! I am really looking forward to it!:mf_lustslow:

  17. Tickets have just been announced on the 9:30 club's website!

It lists an opening act: Sara Bareilles.

I saw her open for Mika at the Gramercy show. She's pretty good!

    I can't wait!!

I'm a little worried. I haven't got my tickets in the mail yet though.:sneaky2:

  18. You guys think there will be a party or something after the concert???

Hmm I don't know. That would be cool. I know there was an after-party at the NYC show a few weeks ago. But I think most of that was for the album release or something.
