  1. in fairness to him, he wouldn't have been allowed to write a good review if he'd wanted to, NME only write good reviews for people they are getting on with at the time no matter how awful they are, allegedly disclaimer disclaimer so I've heard etc.

  2. now, is this right, there's a midnight circus there? I'm so dressing up in a ballgown and going to a tea dance at Lost Vagueness.

can you imagine Mika camping  hahahaha oh GENIUS I just made an unintentional pun I love it.

  3. South Kensington's pretty big though isn't it (especially because people who live in other, slightly less posh parts of London like Earls Court pretend that they're in South Kensington too), your feet would probably get a bit tired.

    YOU COULD HIRE A RICKSHAW.

    no. don't. stalking's bad.

  4. I mean it's just different! It's different then most pop/rock/whatever songs currently and from the past. And also each song is so unique and GOOD!

Ya know how most pop artists these days have about 1 good song on their albums and the rest are crap so it's a waste to buy the whole CD? It's SOO different for mika!!

Every song is a gem and wonderful and fantastic and I'm obSEXed.

so what do you think of reviewers who make all those comparisons? (sorry, I'm just playing devils advocate!! I know what you mean about all the songs sounding so different, it was actually the first CD album I bought in ages and was worth the money bien sur!)

  5. well I ment contemporary pop music...I already listened to Donna Summer (which yes..some songs can be considered pop),Abba,Madonna...this thanx to my mother!

actually she made me love Queen and the 80s pop music and I made her love rock and similar stuff!!!

    but,sorry, I'll never like Kilie Minogue...

oh THAT'S okay then! I thought you meant you'd never liked pop music, and inside I did a little cry for you. but that's alright. although I have to agree to disagree about Kylie, some of her stuff is diabolical but there are gems in there...

when you say Mika is different from any other thing, do you mean different from anything else around at the moment or different from anything ever?

  6. what I think is really interesting is that the level of success he has had, it's not implausible that Mika could fill an arena, but it all came so quickly, the amount of experience he has of performing live might make such a big show a bit funky if you know what I mean... not funky like Prince but funky like... lions and tigers and bears oh my! not that this is a criticism or anything, it ain't his fault that online media is so amazing for promotion!! but I wonder what his record company will do.

well actually, his record company will probably pop him in an arena so they can sell loads of tickets no doubt.......... but don't you think that's an interesting thing to think about!! I am excited to see him at festivals this year to see what he's like!!

  7. He mad me love pop music but hey...keep this for yourself!!! :naughty:

really!! that's amazing!!! a whole new world of music has been opened up for you!! I hope you're going to go and purchase lots of ABBA and Kylie Minogue and. hmm. I would say Donna Summer but I think she's veering into disco territory... I'm trying to think. you should get some France Gall, definitely, Poupee de Cire Poupee de Son (Serge Gainsbourg, who else) is a work of poptastic genius. would you say Prince is pop?

wow. veering swiftly back on topic, MIKA MADE ME QUESTION THE DEFINITION OF POP MUSIC.

not that I anyone really listens when I push my opinion of music, I think the Wizard of Oz soundtrack is a masterpiece. which it is. and I'm not ashamed of that! I know that when my wifey and I are home after a hard night's gigging, there's nothing we like to listen to better than really loud showtunes and to question the definition of pop music into the night.

  8. when I first heard Mika's album, when looking past the music and considering the artist I didn't think 'oh what a pretty shirt' or 'oh what very long legs' or 'well thank you so much, but it's Liza... and that's my hair' (wait a minute wait a minute I got lost in my own narrative). no no, I looked beyond that, and the first thing I thought was 'he strikes me as the sort of person who likes a nice cup of Earl Grey tea and possibly also cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off'.

now, I'm not one to jump to conclusions but it strikes me that, in this case, it must be done and there can clearly only be two possible explanations. either a) I am inside Mika's mind, or b) Mika is inside my mind.

    GET OUT, MIKA.

  9. no no no it's all a good thing, clearly V fest will be an excuse for a huge weekend-long party!!!!! I love V fest, someone told me a story about why the toilets there are so disgusting, but I'd best not repeat it on a family forum..........

  10. oh mais non, loads of people in the UK learn Spanish at school, I would have loved to have done French and Spanish because they're so related with the Latin root, but my school made me do German instead of Spanish. ach!!

incidentally can I just say how terrible I think it is that post-14 in the UK languages aren't compulsory any more!!!!

but anyway... as you were... questions and so forth.
