Lady Madonna, children at your feet

Wonder how you manage to make ends meet

Who find the money when you pay the rent

Did you think that money was heaven sent

Friday night arrives without a suitcase

Sunday morning creeping like a nun

Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlegs

    See how they run

Lady Madonna, baby at your breast

Wonders how you manage to feed the rest

    Pa pa pa pa...

    See how they run

Lady Madonna lying on the bed

Listen to the music playing in your head

    Tuesday afternoon is never ending

    Wednesday morning papers didn't come

Thursday night you stocking needed mending

    See how they run

Lady Madonna, children at your feet

Wonder how you manage to make ends meet

    "Lady Madonna

    by John T. Marck

    Lady Madonna

Lady Madonna was recorded on February 3rd and 6th, 1968. It was the first single of that year, and the first single by The Beatles that went back to basic rock n' roll. It was too a song that defied expectations. Released on the heels of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour, many critics believed that the usage musical progression would occur, but rather came this basic song.

The melody (piano intro) was taken from Humphrey Lyttelton's 50s British jazz classic titled "Bad Penny Blues," combined with the rock n' roll horn section, made the perfect marriage for this song at a time when 50s rock was making its reappearance. It should be noted that "Bad Penny Blues," was also produced by Sir George Martin. And, using the melody of another was no big deal because this is all The Beatles used, and you can't copyright a rhythm, plus Lyttelton borrowed the same melody from Dan Burley.

Written primarily by Paul, the song was a celebration of motherhood. In an interview in 1968 by Musician Magazine, Paul said that it wondered why mother's did it? Where do women find the time to feed them, and get the money...How do they do this thing they do?

Paul got the idea when one day he was looking through an African magazine and saw a picture of an African lady with a baby. The caption read, "Mountain Madonna." Paul said to himself, this isn't right, it should be "Lady Madonna, and from this write the song. It's a good song, a more oblique piece of social comment since "She's Leaving Home," with a subtle air of concern for single mothers. It also has been likened to a traditional Elvis type song.

On one point during the song, John, Paul and George faked the brass section by blowing air through their cupped hands! "

omg! i had no idea that they faked the brass section at one point! UM, CAN YOU SAY GENIUSES?

  2. funny enough, though I am officially stuck in the middle obsessed # 1, I didn't find this similarity before.. Must listen to it again considering it from this perspective..

haha, well it has a certain flair that lady madonna has. is it just me or do you hear it too?

  3. it is impossible not to like the beatles, they are the foundations of all sounds in the past 30ish years, they were the first to explore sounds and experiment ....listen to sergent pepper as a concept album....i have the 'let it be' album signed by all 4, it is genuine!

mika is greatly influenced by their music too

you are SO lucky... to me that doesn't even seem possible! i've seen both ringo and paul but i still don't think they're real! to me, all of them are in like a different world because they're so amazing!

  4. haha he hardly seemed to mind New Yorkers when 500 of you lot showed up at Borders. Like I said, if he's going to have more US dates than the five already announced, NY is definitely getting him at least once.

The Borders thing was insane! It was disgustingly hot and when he was performing everybody was jumping so the floor shook! There were so many people that we didn't get to take pictures. I remember leaving with my friend and then we came back and it was insane like 2 hours later there was still a line. Poor Mika.. haha.:bleh:

  5. Heyy everyone... im soooooo tired! Besides being on a strict diet and doing loads and loads of exercise everyday i've got BIG exams in 2 weeks soo i'm really sorry if i don't add you but i WILL get round to it i PROMISE! :thumb_yello:

No worries! I'll check back every once and awhile. Good luck with everything! :thumb_yello:

  6. NO! It's freaking awesome!!!

Just try to keep them on mute.. or you get headaches.

YAY now I'm DEFINITELY going to go out and buy more. V4 is really sweet, you can do so much with them! I need an awesome keychain too and then I can wear it around everywhere like Mika does. :mf_lustslow: When I saw it with him at the show that I went to, I nearly melted. :wub2:

  7. haha I do the same! I play with my tama non-stop and when its not hungry or bored, I either use my items or go to work so that I can play. And then its sad when it goes to sleep so early.

lol i get really sad too. i feel as if it doesn't need me anymore... and then i realize he's only sleeping

  8. haha Its quite understandable :wink2: I just think you guys have very little to worry about. NY is basically guaranteed one date, if not two. And if all else fails, you can go down to Boston like I am going to LA. Hopefully we will both get him locally, though ^_^

Yeah, you're right, he'll most likely come.

Grrrrrrr I won't be able to see him in Boston because it's on a school night... :sneaky2:

  9. Relax (take it easy) is a awesome song and I can't get it out of my head i think it would be perfect to be the next music video.

I still can't get over how it sound a lot like the Cutting Crews - I just died in you arms tonight. I like Relax alot better then the Cuting Crews song:thumb_yello:

lol i KNEW it sounded like something but i couldn't think of what it was! yeah, mika is way better. :naughty:

  10. Yes, Paul is amazing :)

He came to my city a couple of years ago, and for some stupid reason I didn't go. If he ever comes on tour near me anytime soon, i will SO be there

yeah, while my guitar gently weeps is just beautiful!

the white album is amazing. i think it is one of those life changing albums.

Speaking of , have you seen this??

It's a guy playing while my guitar gently weeps on a Ukulele. The end is really intense... it's awesome.

OMG! That Youtube video is CRAZY! IT was so good! That guy is a genius. I think the most surprising thing about it was that he doesn't seem like the type to be a Ukulele master, you know? That just goes to show you that stereotypes suck:thumbdown:
