  1. Same back to you!!

Thanks for all the updates over the years , really appreciated :thumb_yello:

Hope you can keep it going for his 3rd album:biggrin2:

You're so welcome and i'll sure will :biggrin2::thumb_yello: and many people have helped contribute to this thread and they've kept the thread alive so

And we've got more to talk about now, with the official date release for BIOTG. Will Mika be at the brits this year? It's on one day after the release date..:naughty:

  2. The thing with BEP's songs is that I never like them at first but then I grow to like them. It's been the same with every song they've released. With "I Got A Feeling" I at first found it too repetetive and boring.

However, have you heard it at a party? It's bloody massive, in fact I'd say it's almost as big as WAG live, everyone singing along and jumping up and down. Everyone unites in that song.

Soooooooooo true! I have the same experiences with that song and plus I gotta feeling was even played before the fireworks were set in London for NYE and everyone was singing along to the song! It really is a crowd song - it'll get them pumped instantly!

I can't hate on BEPs, i've been a fan since Where is the love and have all their albums :blush-anim-cl:- seeing them in May @ o2 :mf_rosetinted::thumb_yello:

  3. Lady Gaga is just an oddball - it's not just music with her but it's her personality so people are buying into her image and then music later. She has been getting a lot of promotion, as she should she is a new artist so she has to appear everywhere to remain relevant.

Mika was the same with LICM, he had more urgency and push when he came out. I'm thinking this time round, Mika is going through the second album syndrome for people outside the core Mika fans...

  4. I think you are right in theory - it's a voluntary option where arbitration is required, rather than a change to the application of the law. But I don't believe it can be truly optional, given the amount of pressure certain people are put under by their community to conform. But that's not a discussion for this thread.

I disagree about the US being less important - anyone who is "big in the states" gets a head start in the UK, as far as radio, TV and newspaper coverage is concerned.

I'm not put under-pressure to conform :sneaky2::naughty: and yes we'll leave it at that! :biggrin2:

And you're right US Acts get more promo push but European music industry is now much sort after to concur than the US in recent years. I read an article about this last year with stats and all about the shift in change but google is not being my friend atm! :teehee:

  5. And in fairness to the UK, I should add that immegrants are encouraged to rejoice in their own culture to a fairly wide extent, although a lot of people (including me) are against the idea (being considered) that sharia law should be given some sort of official status here.

I just wanted to post a reply to this part of your comment :) There is a misconception with the Sharia Law. It's not aimed for anyone other than people who follow the Islamic faith and even then it's a voluntary option. And it will not get an official status in the UK, it's only among consenting Muslim people.

And to also add i really enjoyed the discussion in this thread about Mika's progression so far in the TBWKTM era.

And i'll like to add that i think that despite what has been said, Europe is now the major target in the Music Industry not the US anymore and it's just a shame Mika is promoting other parts of Europe rather than the UK ^^ P.s. loved his performance on La chanson de l'anee 2009 :thumb_yello::naughty:

  6. ^^ I agree - more watched tv shows and even radio. Like radio Lounge. He should do a full set ar radio 1 lounge, cover a song and some tracks off TBWKTM will get people more interested. He didn't even do the Jingle ball weekend - where most of the UK artists did. I was surprised he didn't make sure he was on that :/

He doesn't even need to go to on Jonathon Ross for an interview - he can just go on - to perform.

  7. I'm kinda disappointed with the way this era has gone for Mika. He has made 3 videos, 2 single releases yet it only seems like he has fully promoted one song in the UK and that was WAG. Now with the The brit awards coming round the corner, you would expect someone like Mika who released his album in mid sept would be in contention for Best Male but that seems like a far cry now!

Promotion is the only downfall in the era thus far as the album is great! He didn't make himself relevant in the UK. As much as i appreciate how he is doing in France, in no way should that become his major Market. If he put as much energy into his promotion in the UK as he had down in France - he may have been more successful! He is performing more shows there than in the UK. Is the demand higher in France some may ask? Yes but it's his job and also his PR team to create the demand in the UK. One full promo single [WAG] and lacklustre promotion of Rain and a promo single [bIOTG] isn't going to help you succeed here!

I wonder what's going to happen to the album now - will he release more singles and do a re-release to boost the album? Something needs to be pushed behind the scenes because from where i am standing - him and his team are neglecting the promotion of TBWKTM here in the UK, such a waste for all the hard work put into the album! :aah:

  8. Okay, not tour as in "major tour", but he did do a tour in america/canada and now he's off in the far east. I don't know what it is really, but wasn't he in the UK everytime one of his singles was released in 07? I know he's performed Rain on TV a few times but that was way before its release, besides Children In Need. (well, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I can't keep up with his schedule :aah:)

    I don't know.

    I just don't know.

I feel like I never see him anywhere  He was in loads of things when WAG come out, but now it's almost like he's disappeared from the media. Seeing his name pop up 3 times in Star magazine almost gave me a heart attack.

I agree, he promoted much harder during LICM he was not complacent.

Will repost what i said about this ten pages ago..

That's exactly the problem, Mika isn't appealing to people outside his core fans.

And let's be honest there hasn't been much promotion/performances of Rain for it to be top 40  And Radio play helps to back up with the promotion and it just hasn't happened for him.

I wish he didn't do the US tour straight after promoting WAG here. He should have concentrated hard in making himself MORE relevant in the UK and expose people to his new album. Having just one or two weeks of promotion and then shooting off isn't going to help promotion wise because frankly Mika isn't a big of an artist for his music just to do the talking... as we've seen with how Rain is doing atm.

  9. It'd be too stupid to call him a has been - he is only on his 2nd album. It's getting really good reviews but just not performing well as people would like it to be. If the album was crap AND performing badly THEN the press would be ON him.

Also nothing is missing...There is no way getting away from the facts - he isn't selling well both album and single wise atm.

Lack of promotion is the key reason why.

  10. Sorry Showtunes17 I don't buy that.

There would be an "eating frenzy!"

You live in the UK where the press is Horrible!

The American Tabloid Press - who aren't even very aware of Mika - would be having a field day!!

    We are missing something.

Well i'm sorry but that is definitely what is happening here...

I’m afraid that this is the worst that could happen, the silence, the meh, “he’s not good enough to buy but either not interesting enough to yell at”!!!!!

    Exactly

  11. I feel like I am missing something!

I hope I am not in denial which would be odd as I usually am very realistic whether I like the facts or not.

But there is something just off about the sales figures of TBWKTM.

    I don't understand.

I keep searching & reading everything I can get my hands on.

One of the reasons I think I am missing something is that there is NO yapping in print or any other media that Mika is finished, washed up, a one hit wonder etc. etc. - There would be if the sales were as low as what I keep finding.

The media out there are like sharks - if they smell blood they scream it loud & often whether it is based on fact or not.

There isn't a bigger than normal negative movement against Mika out there.

Which brings me back to - I am missing something.

Is anybody else scratching their head trying to figure it out??

No...it's just Mika is not relevant enough atm...at least. Not enough that even when he is "flopping" which he is in the UK...the media probably think people don't care enough to read about it. Well they certainly don't care enough to buy his new album/single :dunno:
