  1. Thank you Pamette. I've got the necessary details for the train journey. I'm still pondering as to whether to go or not. Seems alittle jammed packed from what i can make out. Would of loved more space to walk around abit, but hey, the ticket price is pretty good and I could make it to Arras and back to London within 24 hours if I get an early train in the morning on the following day.

Hmmm..then again, I guess you don't know if it the finishing times is like 'real' festival and goes on into the early hours.

    Thanks again :)

  2. I've tried going to the main website for further info and using the links at the top of this thread- still, not everything is in English and my french is embarassing.

Has anyone been to this festival before? It doesn't look like a festival from the pics, as I see too many buildings in the background; more like one HUGE courtyard. Is there just the ONE stage?

Anyway, from what I can gather, you could go via Eurostar to Lille and get connecting transportation. Is that correct?

    Any feedback, appreciated. Cheers!

  3. Right where to start?? Mika's performance was very good, coming from someone who has seen him at 8 times- thats the most exclamation you're going to get from me!! What I mean from that is, it is all familiar and watching him was like watching an old friend and feeling chuffed that they've risen to this level of adoration...I felt calm and enjoyed every minute of it...

Awww..that made me smile. Glad you were able to see 'your mate' again..

  4. Yes, but not nearly so long. :thumb_yello:

By the way, about his jacket sleeves... a lot of people have remarked that they seem too short, but I think Mika's doing it on purpose. He seems to be going for a layered look, and I think he likes that the shorter sleeves show off the shirt cuffs.

hehe..that reasoning has just made me laugh. Not a bad explaination, I guess, but it just seems to me, that he has the same problem as me. Tailored clothes will never fit me properly as my arms are just way too long. I would of though Mika would have a stylist to ensure his clothes are made-to-measure.

the jacket he wore (silver) for The Brits didn't fit too well, and it wasn't just the sleeves. The area around the shoulders looked alittle off.

  5. Blue Eyes, your pics are the most animated i've seen in a long while. For me, who wasn't there last night and have no plans to see Mika this year, it painted a really good picture of how the night was. Cheers!!

..and I'm glad to hear a change in set i.e , the string quartet on Happy Ending. One of the songs that made me wanna see him live in the first place. It must of sounded beautiful. (any youtube footage..anyone?). I was getting slightly irritated by hearing that song 'screamed', and loosing its sentimemt. Nice touch there Mika. ( perhaps Mark Ronson offered him a few tips there with the orchestral arrangements..haha:mf_rosetinted: )

    Thanks again for sharing!

  6. Thanks for posting that video.

Just how awkward was that interview. Both of them don't really get along do they....or perhaps Mika hasn't and won't forget the amount of times Chris Moyles has 'dissed' him on his breakfast show. Very uncomfortable for me to watch that.

So he was ill, and still performed.. My sympathy only goes so far this time as I would hate for you guys who are going to the London shows to miss out again, if putting unnecessary strain on his voice would mean him cancelling. I guess, he didn't want to let anyone down, but his performance IMO wasn't that good at the brits

  7. Couldn't resist posting...I LOVE Mark Ronson. Seen him 6 times last year, but I'm in total shock. Thought Mika had it in the bag. Mark's good, but not good enough to win Best British Male. His production skills are top class, but as a 'solo' artist, he just doesn't cut it.

Mika's face said it all. He reaction was honest. He was GUTTED!!! ( as i was)

  8. Seriously. You're so good at everything else, can't you drop the painfully staged scripts and engage in some spontaneous stage banter, like in SLC?

I was really moved by your quote about radio play and live shows in Philly because it was new, and seemed genuine. I joked that I would bet you'd be repeating it at every show since, but of course you are. Yes, it was a good bit, but not as a "bit"--it was only moving and good as something earnest and real. I had thought your slight hesitation prior to saying it was because you were disclosing something vulnerable, a confession of sorts--not because you were trying to remember the latest addition to your script.

The overly-worn Billy Brown bit just makes me grind my teeth at this point.

Haven't the energy to read all the posts on this thread, but I agree with some of the points raised.

Unfortunately for me, this is one of the reasons I've decided to stop going to any more gigs for a while. Since seeing him firstly last year,in January at Flopp Music store, and 7 times after that, untill my last gig in December, which i even considered not going too, I also became alittle cynical about the 'scripted banter' and stage performance.

I can't or won't put the blame on Mika, but myself really. Too much of a good thing always has its downfalls. I just had to remember that he wasn't just playing for existing fans, but new fans aswell. I dunno..I guess when you start to know the setlist or routine, even before any songs are performed, its time to take a back sit..... Just my opinion

  9. For all who have booked 'circle seats, i do hope you get their on time to get a good spot. Its a really really high balcony, and standing up was not allowed (well, i've only suffered circle seats for one band at Brixton, and although I was seated at the front, I was constantly told to SIT DOWN!)..Apart from that, its one of my fav venues in London

  10. WOW!!! I just heard the news and I also feel for all those people who have made their way to the venue to face disappointment. I went To the Brixton gig last night and although i was not up front, I didn't think for a minute that he was poorly, although he did mention that him and his band had been 'in bed' for the last couple of days. His performance was so energetic that i'm stunned by this announcement..

Its a shame that many people wouldn't of recieved this annonccement in time before heading off as according to Mika's statement:

"I thought after last night’s performance I could do the shows but this morning it was obvious I could not proceed"...

It would of been nice of his management team to have made the statement this morning as Mika obviously felt a little under the weather at this point..

Did his band even know as why are they at the venue?

    Just my thoughts...
