  1. You would have missed it if you blinked, but it was sooo funny.

Chelsey Handler, for those who do not know, does a show on E called Chelsea lately. She is a VERY funny comedian.

She was doing a spoof on donating her eggs, and she was laying on the table asking the doctor if he could relax her by playing some music. She said "Do you have Mika?"

Small ... but so great as in the US I don't hear much about Mika!

  2. Whoot , thank you!

Has anyone seen some of these bands live?

I have to pick my brain here. I was constantly going to concerts in the 80's. These are some that I do remember ... I'm sure there are more.

    The Who

    The Rolling Stones

    Elton John

    Guns n' Roses

    Marillion

    The Grateful Dead

    Boston

    Metallica

    Eric Clapton

    Electric Light Orchestra

    Rush

    Whitesnake

    Roger Waters

    Robert Plant

    Stevie Ray Vaughn

    Def Leppard

    Billy Squire

    Ozzy Osbourne

    MeatLoaf

    Yes

  3. Well, David Lee Roth always was VAN HALEN to me, for sure. But ... it's been a loooonnnngggg time since he was in his prime. I just don't see him having that staying power of Steve Tyler or Mick Jagger. I won't be buying tickets to a Van Halen Reunion show ... even though I was a fan way back when.

  4. I like Paul Rodgers, but no one could take Freddy's place in Queen, for me anyway. I saw the tribute (not live), and I liked it, but no one can do his songs right for me.

It would be like Led Zeppelin touring with a singer other then Robert Plant ... it just doesn't work for me.

  5. John Bonham died before I got to see LZ - but I did see Robert Plant in concert several times. I went to so many concerts in the 80's - Boston, Billy Squire, Def Leppard, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Ozzy, The Who, Rolling Stones ... all the big Icons - many more I can't even remember now.

I missed seeing Queen - that breaks my heart. Freddy died when I was in my early 20's. He was so secret about his illness, no one knew we were running out of time to see him.

  6. SIGN ME UP!

I remember the moment I found out Freddy died. I remember where I was standing, who was in the room, everything. I broke down and cried.

I remember being a little girl running around the house singing Bohemian Rhapsody with my brother. I've loved Queen since birth!

  7. I want to be part of the club!

Karen - Happily single 39 year old Mom and a brand new Mika fan!

    I have 3 sons 12, 8 and 5. I may be too old for Mika, but I don't care!!

In the 80's, I was a pretty die-hard Queen fan, and I was introduced to Mika by a friend who thought he sounded like Freddy and sent me a link, and I was hooked!

  8. What a great welcome! You guys are great.

My oldest son is away for 2 weeks, but I'll be introducing him to Mika when he gets back. I've introduced him to the songs of my generation (Elton John, Queen, etc.), and he seems to like quite a lot of it, although he prefers Eminem (ick!)

I'm been reading and I hear the Mika is doing the promo for Ugly Betty, which is a HUGE show in the states! I'm hoping that will bring him a strong following and maybe do some shows here. I haven't been to a concert in a gazillion years :naughty: , but I'd go to see Mika.

  9. Well ... hello all. I have never joined a fan club in my life! I'm a 39 year old mother of 3 sons (12, 8 and 5) and was recently "introduced" to the music of Mika from a friend of mine that saw him on Good Morning America, thought he sounded similar to Freddy Mercury (one of my all time absolute favorite singers and performers), and sent me a link. I LOVE him! I spent the last week looking up information, grabbing songs and song bites of the internet, and just got his new CD and I love every single song on it.

I feel like a teenager again.
