Etoile2rose, "Karen" could be compared to other songs, French ones or English ones. You know, like "Cendrillon" by Téléphone or "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Show must go on" by Queen.

Neither of them were nice, sweet songs but many people loved (and still love) them and sung along or even danced on them.

I don't like Cendrillon but the main difference is that Cendrillon does not exist in real live... sometimes words are weapon really, and you can not play with them and the impact they can have toward someone without taking the responsability

I prefer blame it on the weather, there is a sensitivity there that I can not find on the french version, I love Mika and Ida voices together... the lyrics are not the same, it's not the same space and the same intention... futhermore the lyrics of the french version start to bother me

You said that Mika stated that he cannot listen to jazz and therefore he is a liar and it's been demonstrated that he did not say he doesn't listen to jazz. I don't see how "everybody's right and wrong". It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact.

 

I have been going to jazz clubs for 25 years and was at the opening of the Toronto Jazz Festival on Friday night. I think it is entirely accurate to say that I like jazz but I would never say that I "understand" jazz in the way that Mika must understand pop and classical music since he studied classical music and makes pop for a living. Obviously his relationship to jazz is different but that doesn't mean he is incapable of listening to it and is therefore lying.

I did not talk only for "jazz music" when I said sometimes he sounds like a "liar" or like some one you say: "he is coloring his stories", it is more "kind"... there are plenty of example here on MFC, of how Mika make contradictions on differents subjects, so stop to "jump" on me like that... and for Jazz music it is how I "understand" between the lines what he said during this interview...

No, not necessarily so, and in this case it was clear he actually liked the potential in jazz (i.e. integrating jazz into his music at a later stage perhaps).

Not 'understanding' how a particular type of music works means one's inability to perform it. It is particularly true of jazz since you need to understand how the structure works in order to be able to improvise along it. As a listener, you can still enjoy it.

well when you say that you don't "understand" a style of music, it "means" for me that you can not listen to it, or if you listen to it, it is not for a long time or during a short period... it is a very complicated music, and very difficult to "love" if you ears are not accustom to it... Mika gives reference of musicians he likes in pop music for the most part... It was an example but there are others and I don't want to waste my time with that...

That's not important by the way, it is just time for me to stop to listen his interviews .

Well I remembered he said that he did not understand "jazz" music and that he could not listen to it... I will definitively stop to listen/read his interviews, thing I wanted to do earlier but he was stopping at that point this kind of "game", now that he seems to restart I will definitively stop...

About his collaboration with Dita, I don't see really the point about it, that's a friend of him, she could appear on a video maybe but for the rest... if it's to sing with him there are plenty talented singers out there that are waiting to have a chance... He has already a chorist... if it's all about "image" I don't see the point to have change things in his music, website and stuff...

It was an amazing day, this 17th june, happy to have seen familiar and new faces The weather was with us all day long... Mika was amazing, a beautiful energy up there, and I like the vibes of his new musicians . Of course it was too short buy anyway a good time for everyone I guess. I do not regret all the way to go and to coming back home, the wait with nice people Sorry I am very tired so this review is very short, but you said it all before

I bought mine from Ticketmaster (used the link from Lovebox site). I finally managed to send them my question, I tried to do it last week and it was just not working... It's Monday already, don't know what to do.

I did not print mine yet because I am waiting for new ink for my printer I order last week... I will try to buy them in a shop this afternoon then I will tell you if it works or not... Maybe it is possible for you to have a "mail" that prove you "bought" already your ticket and to have your name on a list for the festival ?

Not a lot of "foreigners" will be there for this festival I guess, so it will not be so hard to organised !
