  2. The Buried Life is a TV show on MTV (that aired in the U.S. and Canada, at least). The premise of the show is quite simple: four friends (Duncan, Ben, Dave & Jonnie) made a list of 100 things they want to do before they die. They travel around in their purple bus (Penelope) achieving (or attempting to) those dreams. For every thing they complete on their list, the help a stranger complete one of theirs (please note: they've helped other people even when they, themselves, haven't succeeded in completing whatever task!). This is, quite honestly, one of the best shows I've ever seen. Honestly.

    Their list:

I think the fact that they're doing these crazy things is really cool. But what I find even more impressive about these four guys is the generosity and care that they have in their hearts, when they help complete strangers. The strangers truly appreciate their help. The one that stood out the most for me is when they met a girl who had lost her mother in Hurricane Katrina. But her mom was buried in Colorado (I believe), and the one thing she wanted to do befor she died is visit her mother's grave. So the four of them worked a day in a restaurant to earn enough money to buy her a plane ticket to see her mom. When they showed her in the graveyard, it was one of the saddest, most touching things I've ever seen. I cried!

I believe these four guys are role models. They are such incredibly fantastic, incredible people.

Here's a trailer. Please watch it.

So...what do YOU want to do before you die?

But what about what you want to do before you die? :wink2:

    Yaayy;:teehee:

Well, eitherr of my suggestiions sound good! I don't mind:wub2:

  5. This sounds like SUCH a good idea:mf_lustslow:

I'm so exicited. But i'm confused, if i just comment & say i'm in does that mean i'll go on the list? Or do i actually have to pm Petra?

I'm 15 & from UK. Anywhere other than here would be really cool! Further the better but yeeees, so exciting:biggrin2::biggrin2:

  6. I love your interpretation, and the general meaning of this song has such obvious links to some lines from Love Today. The narrator perspective in the both songs is pretty dark despite their dance or joyfull sound.

Thaankyou. Haven't really thought about the links to other songs actually, i might have to try that now:thumb_yello: & Yeah, again completely agree with that. The song is really upbeat & joyful, but actually it has a sadder meaning to each indivual story.

  7. Sure, right, the fame thing is something that could have underlinied the whole story about Toy Boy from the quite new perspective. Especially aftar "what came with it". For him/the boy/man at the first place and then for his supposed partner.

But I've got the feeling that this song is actually about the human manipulation with the fear to be loved and be in love with someone. Anyone.:biggrin2:

Yeahh, i actually agree. I think the song has different meanings for different people though, & the first thing i noticed was the fame aspect + love in one song? Maybe, maybe not who knows:biggrin2:

  8. Well I can agree with some of your points here, but not quite sure whether the plot of the lyrics is entirely connected with his autobiographical experience. It's partly involved of course as it always has to be. But the topic of fame isn't crutial for Mika to be loved by someone. Where it comes to relationship I guess that he mainly feels deeply inside like before he became "fame". The same emotional problems, insecurity, unstability IMO.:wink2:

Yeahh, yeah. I totally agree. But obviously everyone interupts songs differently, & this is MY INTERPRETATION:naughty: Thinkk i spelt that wrong.. but still. I think becoming that well known must have some sort of effect on your relationships with people though, and i thought that it wasn't really the fame that bothered him, it was what came with it. Which by the sounds of it, he already knew was coming?:teehee:

  9. I think i'm a bit obsessed with trying to work out the meanings of songss, so i'm going to bed after this one:roftl:

I think it's saying how he's easily influenced, & a very open person because it's called Toy Boy. It's quite a patronizing song, as if he's annoyed that people don't take him seriously enough maybe? That, just because he's open to peoples opinions & views suddenly means he doesn't know enough, & this annoys him? & The fact he doesn't know who's being fake & real with him?

He's very dependant on other people too, but he's very lively & the people who know him most understand who he is. "I've a heart of gold, in the smallest size" meaning, that when he's noticed as who he really is, he's .. great? But it's small because people, like press & media only see one side of him. You never hear him moan about it, even when he's not noticed.

The prechorus 1 carries on saying he is who he is but other people see him & hear about him and DON'T KNOW him. He comes to life around the people he loves. Verse 2, says how he deals with it, that accepts the fact people are going to only see his stage, and singer side of him and he's alright with that because if people he doesn't love get too close, he's going to "pull your hair" suggesting he won't be very happy:teehee: Saying he's more than just a toy is saying he's more than just an artist, & that when you get to know him he's actually probably different & he's just like everyone else.

Then when he says "But your momma thought there was something wrong, didn't want you sleeping with a boy too long" I think that is about his sexuality, and because of it, he felt that some people were against or didn't like him because of it, even though it doesn't make him who he is completely. & Then it goes back to the patronizing bit about him, and the fact he is bi, & a well known singer, meant that he should have this lovely girl, that fits in & looks good on the front of a magazine.

"You knew that i adored ya, but you left me in Georgia, toys are not sentimental, how could i be for rental" Is about maybe his lost opportunities of finding someone because he's famous? Now he has become a succesful singer, he doesn't know how to find out who truly loves him. And the person who might, is going to be harder for him to find now he's this big. It's kind of saying how could people who don't even know him claim that they love him?

The next few verses are talking about someone he thought he loved? Or a previous relationship or something but is the evidence that they didn't really love him.

OOH. Yeahh because when it says "clothes are made of rags and they don't even match" that's saying he's not like her at all & they have nothing in common SO then he sings "so she dressed me up as the man she loved, and threw me in a box when she had had enough" it means, she's trying to turn him into something that she could love, but he wants to be loved for who he is. "Now the light of day i no longer see, she stuck her vodoo pins where my eyes used to be" finally means he trusted her, & thought he loved, & though she loved him for who he was but she hurt him, & now he doesn't know if he can trust again, & he doesn't see the light in finding someone.

He's finishing with the last few verses, saying that someone might of loved him if he hadn't became so well known, but now they're afraid of him because of maybe what they could be hearing about him from media & not believing in hope of getting to know him.

Now he knows he's made the mistake of not getting to know someone for who they are, and thinking it would be that easy to find someone who truly loves him now he's famous. "When your oldest son's wondering what to be, tell him the story of a boy like me" basically saying, make sure people don't make the same mistake!

    Reaaaddd it PLEASE:wub2:

Took me ages to think & write that,:biggrin2:

  10. It's such a beautiful song, i think it's about people coming together in the world. The fact that everyone has problems, but no one thinks about the people who aren't close to us. When he talks about writing songs about other peoples misfortunes, & crimes, he's trying to say that he's doing how he knows to tell people that he's thinking of them. The song is all connected because the fact that it's called "Lonely Alcholic" & the bit "ooo baby, don't leave me alone" bit is connected with the stressed out single mothers bit. Saying we are the cause of some of our own problems, the birth of some of our problems because the way we deal with them.

ALSO, the fact it's called lonely alcoholic is a bit ironic because when you're drunk people often tell the truth, we already KNOW people are suffering with problems all over the world, it's just what we do about them which is the important thing. You can't pause time, or change what's already happened, so learn & stop it from happening again in the future. Where he sings "I'm just craving to be heard" i think it's not only talking about himself but other people. Some people have really important opinions on things but just aren't heard. It says "Well they that i am doing my duty to the world" because he's actually found HIS way of getting his opinions across, even if he didn't get as famous as he did, at least SOMEONE might hear it & learn.

Then it's pretty blunt in the next verse, when it talks about kids who don't eat enough & men with many wives. But the most important lines out of the whole song i think are:

"if we're altogether screaming why can't we make a sound

'cause the dirt on which we're stepping is the one in which we will be found"

Saying if everyone is trying to tell people how they think & feel, why do people still have these problems? And why isn't there an easier way of sorting them out? And for some it might not be until we die when people look up & realise what this person had to say & what they're going through OR it could mean, if we really make an effort to talk to people & get what want said.. HEARD, then we really have to make an effor to get in there & make a difference in our own way that we found.

  11. I think the first verse is pretty much saying about indivuality & saying that he's heard so many stories about people & what their dreams are! "The same old story, it never bores me" meaning, he's heard so much & it never bores him to listen to people. The first person, (Georgia) is in comparison to the seconds person (April). I think it's an actually a pretty sad song even though it's so lively because he talks about Georgia first, then there's a kind of BUT in the middle of the song & he talks about April.

Georgia is surrounded in this world by other people like April, that's when he talks about "what's a good girl like you doing in this crazy world?" but she's a good girl. I don't understand the Double D bust bit though, that doesn't fit in my theory but the "at the bed of a wounded soldier" is saying she's like a nurse & is caring for people. She's pratically perfect.. but everyone gets older. "Hanging out in the fancy bars, with the boys who play guitar" obviously she's this perfect gorgeous young girl, all these boys want her but she's living her life too fast to notice them.

April is sung about next. In comparison to Georgia, everyone LEAVES when she's in the room, instead of catching everyones attention. The bit where he's like "Those painted ponies that you've ridden all before" is about fake people i think. Saying that everyone has had a moment where they haven't been themsleves & shown their true colours.. like the ponies who are painted. "I can tell you what you want the most" he already knows what she's like because when people but on a fake front it's usually simillar. Now she's a "beggar" so basically she's desperate now she's not getting as much attentioon, so this old bloke comes along & she's all over him.

It then repeats: "Dance, dance to the life you wanted

    When you were only 17

With your good girl dream." As if to say she's changed who she is & her dreams have followed & it's reminding her i think.

But then, the last bit is: "She's walkin around all over the town.

Needs somebody to notice but the goodness gets her down.

She's happy to choose somebody to use.

Good gone girl she's got nothin left to lose."

She's not who she is, she's "bad" now & has lost the attention she would of got if she stayed who she is, but people are around her ARE good & won't give her that attention, (that's why it's getting her down) She's happy to choose somebody to use, Good gone girl she's got nothing left to lose means she's desperate for someone, because she has nothing or no one & feels as if she needs to "use" somebody to get herself noticed again.

That was long, but please read it:roftl:

  12. Okaayy. I think this song is about trust or attention or maybe just love? She obviously wasn't happy even though she had such a unbelievable talent of walking on water, she just wanted someone to love her and she thinks the only way they would is if they see her talent. When she does, & they fall for each other, she's so happy that when he 'drowns' she wants to find him. Suggesting it might be the only thing left to live for, & trusting in the fact that he'll still be there.

Now, everyone is talking about this beautiful fish, and she got all the attention she wanted before. She learnt her lesson, that it wasn't the fact she could walk on water that was worth her. She was in love and it didn't matter if no one saw her again apart from him.

It's actually adorable because even though she died, the fact he's still alive & looking for her, means he trusted her enough to know she'd be looking for him. :wub2:

I think it might be reflecting Mika's singing career. Even though he's a very well known, popular singer, the people who love him won't stop loving him and it's not the talent that represents him. Also the fact the song is about fish, which is his fear, might imply that if you get too involved & obessessed in the fact you are famous, you're turn into your own fears & it will only worry you?

That's what i thought anywayy, please read.. that took me ages:roftl::thumb_yello:

  13. I went to Brighton Centre last night. Though his concert was actually amazingg, i cried.. 3 times:wub2: Definetely the best i've ever been to, & i've been to quite a few:naughty: I was one line away from the front, so i had good photo oppurtunities too! The gold confetti & the giant balloons during his encore made it too! He also sang all the songs i wanted him to sing apart from One Foot Boy & By The Time and the crowd were great, just not lively enough.

I also had the chance to meet him after. Waited for almost an hour but i have his signature so i'm very, very happy. I was so overwhelmed i didn't even know what to say though, but i think he saw my tamagotchi:teehee:

  14. "Please leave the door open just a crack, cos i feel like such an insomniac, why do i tire of counting sheep? When i'm far too tired to fall asleep" - Fireflies pretty sums me up:roftl: I'm an insomniac.
