Electric energy in Brooklyn tonight! Mika is so comfortable in his skin and in his songs, and he shared that with us tonight. Some thoughts in no particular order:

    • In the intro, there is a recording of Mika talking all about love: how love created the universe, and lit up the sun, and how the sun created all of us with its yellow light. During this recording the band is all on stage waiting, and you don't see Mika at all, and then he just runs on all at once!
    • Red! Suit! Frilly! Shirt! CURLS!!! And Velcro Shoes????
    • Dear Jealousy was the second song he played (I think) -- beforehand, he talked for a bit about he hasn't been on tour in four years, and he is starting something new. To start something new, you have to start with new music, and this song was acknowledging something new...basically, how he is a "jealous bastard." 😂 Crowd reaction was great, it felt like everyone around me was either familiar with the song or caught on really quickly.
    • The venue itself had great sound, high ceilings, and a very wide stage that meant a lot of people could get close. Mika did a good job of walking back and forth and giving energy to every corner of the room.
    • Mika was really hamming it up, saying "this song is for my aunties..." he named all of the aunties, some of whom were here tonight, and his mother. Then he said "you'll see why I'll be getting 56 slaps in the face when you find out what song this is" -- then launched into Big Girl.
    • The gig was also RECORDED, which was at first apparent because of the team with the huge camera who walked around filming for most of the concert. Mika also mentioned the name of an accomplished sound engineer who reached out to him about turning a show on this tour into a live album. Mika was saying he's never dropped a live album before! So this was the show that's going to be mixed into an album. When we  were leaving the venue, they opened up the side door and you could see into what looked like all the sound engineers mixing right there.
    • Setlist was almost the same as last night, with the omission of Sanremo
    • Lots of LICM songs tonight, followed by TOOL. Plus all the new stuff! Funny, because I think those were the two albums he toured most on in the U.S. so it makes sense to stick within those tracklists.
    • Sofia (not sure of MFC handle) gave Mika a cool jacket (I have photos below) with embroidery and patches that were relevant to the tour. He put it on and it fit perfectly!
    • The renditions of the older songs are some of the best I've seen. Lollipop and Love Today really stand out. Lollipop, they start with a bit of a dueling pianos soundfest that resolves into what the crowd eventually recognizes as Lollipop. He had a spiel beforehand about how his mom told him to avoid the girl next door, but she didn't need to worry about the girl next door...it was the boy next door! Love Today he had the balcony and the floor wave at each other, then told us all to close our eyes and dance our hearts out because no one cares how you look.
    • Encore was GK and a Tiny Love reprise that ended with Mika riffing off the theme of getting and staying high on a tiny love. He said "stay high!" as the last message before he went off stage.
    • The new tracks were great, though the sound made Blue a little difficult to understand. Technically it is a very challenging song, and Mika sings most of it solo with very basic accompaniment. Very cool to see it live, and I'm looking foward to hearing it a couple more times.
    • TOMORROW is a CLASSIC already, the chorus is so catchy and cleverly timed -- it's just doing what Mika does best: clever lyrics, interesting melody, timing that's a little different. He gave us the intro, that this song is about being "15 cm" away from someone in the back of an old Mercedes Benz and making a mistake that you may or may not regret.
    • Pink is the color of sin. Especially when you grow up as a Catholic boy -- because pink is also the color of passion. He used this intro to talk about Origin of Love. This kind of comment is touching to see as a fan who has followed him for so long. He's so much more comfortable in his own skin and sexuality, and open in expressing that. One of the great joys of following Mika over the years is seeing him grow and process this part of his identity through music, and being able to process alongside him. He's come a long way.
    • Show ended around 10:30pm, Mika came out around 11:30pm to sign. There was a big crowd and he must have spent about 20 minutes talking, taking photos, and autographing with everyone. He really made his way around the crowd and took time to talk to those who were at the front. Several times during the concert, he had mentioned how he hasn't been here in four years. So it seems he's making the time to get to know his fans over here. We are lucky!

This was a fab show! He did really well indeed. Even my husband is impressed and he has seen some great show as well. So much contact with the Asian audience, everything is so different than in Europe. I took a lot of pics but connections are very poor. I will try to upload a few with my report.

    I completely agree whit you!
Unfortunately I could not live this experience in first person, but from the videos I usually watch I think that Asian public is amazing!!!
They trasmit to me a different atmosphere from Europe and i love it!

Thank you for all your post, videos and photos!!

Translation of funny moments during NRJ Belgique interview (Les Sondages de Marco).

Marco found some statistics concerning different situations.

He starts the sentence and people in the studio have to find out the end.

"1 person on 10 has cried in a car because" ....

    People propose:

    ... of the sun?

... they are tired after hard day at work?

    Mika: Because they are late?

NRJ: No. The answer is: "1 person on 10 has cried in a car because ... they were lost". They didn't know where they were. Has it happened to you, Mika, to be lost?

Mika: All the time. Every day. It's true. I walk everywhere. I am a very bad driver so I walk everywhere. And I get lost all the time.

    NRJ: And you cry?

Mika: No. I like it. Really, I like to be lost. The best things happen in your life when you are a litte lost.

NRJ: Ah, it's nice. It's a beautiful sentence. Tiphanie is lost all the time. It's the best thing that happens to her :lol3:

    Next one:

"42% of women would like to go there at least once in their life during holidays".

Mika: In Belguim or in the whole world?

NRJ: In the whole world. It is an exact place. Not a city. It can be anywhere....

Another NRJ: In the fridge? To cool down. In a freezer? When it's really hot!

NRJ: He will have a baby in 4 months. You see in what state he is now? He will put a baby into the fridge when it's hot.

Mika: But.... wait.... In USA, next to the place where I live, next to the gim I go, there is a place where they do cryotherapy. And there you enter naked into the fridge. They give you a sock to cover your... your future :roftl: ... So you get inside and the tempereature gets down, down... it hurts. It takes 2-3 minutes. It's a recovery. All tennisplayers.... In Paris there is the same place at Rolland Garros. I go there very often. And I've seen great tennisplayers, champions using this machin. So I said to myself: ok, it means that it works.

NRJ: You've already done a cryotherapy?

Mika: Yes. It's funny because when you touch yourself you have a feeling you are more... tonic... your butt becomes  very hard...

NRJ: Ah, I am going to do it at once!!!! And I will touch just my belly!

NRJ: So the answer is: "42% of women would like to go a naturist beach".

    Mika: And men?

NRJ: Well. For men it's 100%

NRJ: And the last one: "3% of people has watched a tutorial to learn how to..."

    Tiphany: How to cook?

Aurelie: How to tie a tie?

NRJ: No. To help you I will add that this can be usefull this summer. For those who will have a chance to get into water.

Tiphany: How to repair a tire? How to make your laguage?

NRJ: No. it's about how to learn to swim.

Mika: How many people? 3%. Ok, not too much.

NRJ: Ok. Can you imagine a guy with his laptop on the beach? He's checking, he sais: OK. He tries to do it. No, I sank. I retry. I didn't see well the movements.:roftl:

NRJ: And you, how do you swim? A butterfly?

    Tiphanie: No. A dog.

First of all, i want to say thank you as always to all of you that share videos and photos with us!

It was an amazing concert, a great atmosphere, a magnificent audience, he was magnificent, and there were all the band members I love!

I've always said that I love korean fans! They love Mika from the beginning and always, without any talent show, no television project and despite they see him very little
They love him and his music, they are super organized, they have too nice gadgets 😍🤣 they are totally crazy!
The better thing is that they know all word of every song, they sing also Toy boy and all less famous song! I have never heard so many voices  during a Mika gig, maybe only in USA!

I'm so so happy to read such a beautiful review, I'm glad that also Spain still loves Mika!

I hope he'll do something there in future to increase his popularity again!

I'm reviewing all the gig of the latest Mika tour! I was already doing it, but now that nostalgia is too much for me, I'm even happier to do it! I can confirm that the gig in Spain are always beautiful and special, there is a different atmosphere!

Finally, i want to say thank you to all again for videos, photos and reviews!

  6. Oh but I miss the tour as well. For various reasons i wasn't able to go to any concert this year. And now he has stopped touring for -as it seems- a long time. So I feel kind of sad that I didn't try harder to attend a concert in France when I was there. I watch concert clips from time to time to fill the void, just as you do. But just not as often as i used to do in te beginning of my fanship.

Did you go to any concert in Italy this year?

I'm back in Amsterdam now. But I was in the Perigord Vert for the last two and half months, staying in a very tiny village. I love Paris as well but I love nature more.

No need to say sorry for your English. I just learned the word "valve" from you so it's fine by me.

I went to Florence, than Bercy in may, Perugia and finally Rome!
But it's never enough, I would like to see all of them :dunno:   so i also try to fill the lack watching the videos!

ok, from now you also can say that Mika is a valve  :wink2:

  7. Already one year. Amazing gig, one of his best for a huge festival.  Unforgettable memories.  I miss him a lot in Spain this year.  :tears:

You're right! It was really an amazing gig, one of his best in general for me!

While i watched the streaming i could touch the energy, the joy and positive party atmosphere, both from him and from the crowd!

I'm rewatching old videos because too much nostalgia :naughty:  Sorry, I probably filled you with notifications today!

  8. Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad his music makes you happy as well.

This concert in Lokeren feels like it happened ages ago. Thanks as well for making me think of that special night again.

I've just been living in France for two and a half month, again with Mika's songs as compagny and support in weaker moments.

I'm not as obsessed with him as I used to be but in the background he's always there. Sort of an old friend that you don't see as often as you used to do but you know he's still there when you need him.

I'm glad to have you brought back some good memories...and yes, we can say thak Lokeren happened really a long time ago!

The point is that I miss the tour, so I'm watching all the videos of the last 18 months of concerts
Anyway, maybe it's not bad that you are no longer obsessed, there are so many ways to love an artist! For me Mika is always present even if I can't go to many gigs, he is my "escape valve"

Ps. sorry for my english, and i Love Parissssss!!! Now where do you live?
  9. I'll post also the report that I wrote in Italian, but is very very loooooooong... Sorry and don't worry, it's not so interesting!!! I wrote it for me, first of all, so all the essentials are in my previous post... ;)

    REPORT ON TAORMINA CONCERT 23.07.2015

    ........

    Luisa :)

    Luisa, thank you so much!!!

Your report is beautiful, I can feel what you felt that night

Everything you've told is materialized in front of my eyes!  :fangurl:

And i wanna say thank you also to Grazia for the periscope!

  10. I think that:

for the festival is quite rare to obtain a sold out, usually they take place in infinite spaces!

Anyway, Mika yet often fills everything!

for theaters etc., many times sold out is reached in the days before the gig, or maybe it is missing because of very few places!

Sometimes, sold out is reached during the evening of the gig!

For example, in Taormina (anfiteatro romano) Mika's gig was sold out, but nobody said that!

And now, at Umbria jazz festival Mika has sold all tickets, but there are "places side foot with limited vision" probably no one will buy it, but the arena is fulled!
