  1. Less than a month!!! :dance_man:

I had a dream last night that here we were at the oncert and the venue was almost empty... I felt so bad for him! and then he came on the stage wearing a LICM purple t-shirt (which was odd) and just started singing like that, there was no opening act. And he sang new songs that we haven't heard yet and they basically sucked... what a strange dream lol!!!

One thing's for sure, the gig's gonna be nothing like my dream, it'll be AWESOME!!!

I hope to get front row but wonder if it's super safe since I'm pregnant... but my belly's not huge and people usually behave in Montréal Mika gigs so I don't think I would get squished too hard either...

Awww, I was just looking at the RSVP list for this show and seeing how many of you I am going to miss seeing.

Wish I could be there with you all!

Wish you could be there with us! Was gutted I missed you at the festival!!

I think he just wants to do a small acoustic tour - probably for financial reasons. Of course he can sell thousands of tickets in Montreal but maybe he doesn't feel comfortable doing such a small scale show in a big venue just for Montreal.

It would have been nice if he'd gone to Ottawa though.

Anyway I would expect he'll be back in Quebec for a bigger show eventually, even if it's a festival.

True... if he does small venues everywhere, it would just look a bit odd the set-up in a large venue. What would have been reeeaaaally cool is if he had time to do more than one night here.

If he comes back for a festival then it's gonna be a bit hard for me cause for sure I'm gonna be huge by then LOL!

  2. I will miss you all too. But I need to practice my French and I love Montreal so maybe we can meet in the summer. I've even been looking at real estate. The apartments are so nice there! And it's the only decent city I could move to without emigrating. :naughty:

Montreal is not exactly around the corner even if it's in Canada. It's just as easy for me to fly to New York, etc. as it is to fly to Montreal. And once you are in the US it is exponentially cheaper and easier to get around between cities. Like a flight from Toronto to Chicago is $300 but a flight from New York to Chicago is $80 even though Toronto is 500 kms closer to Chicago  and I can take a 2 hour train from DC to Philadelphia instead of a 5 hour train from Toronto to Montreal.

With 17 dates we are spoiled for choice so it doesn't really matter if it's the US or Canada once I start travelling. It's wonderful to have a gig in Toronto though of course. I can see the street that the venue is on from my living room which makes a nice change from flying thousands of kms. :naughty:

Oh it would be lovely having you here in the summer! Do keep us posted :)

Yes it is ridiculous how expensive it is to travel around in Canada... I do get why you're not coming here! I wish I could go to at least one other gig but it's not gonna be possible this time around...

  3. Aww, thank youuuu!! Just three months until the big day!

  5. May 12th, 2010

Well, had an appointment at the doctor's today and my belly now has an expiration date: May 17th! So she's not gonna be a gemini, sorry Guylaine and Sara! loll!! At least now I know I have max 5 days to go! I still hope she's gonna come out before and that I don't have to be induced!

Good news is, apparently the baby is veeeery low, very well engaged, so the doctor says I should have an easy delivery. I hope she's right!!

  6. AWESOME. Who's prepared to knock me up? :roftl::roftl:

    Kiddin'...

    :roftl::roftl:

Yup, my mother said the same thing. I'd be 15 years old and in agony, and she'd be like "oh, have a baby, that will fix you." Um...right. :naughty:

    :roftl:

you are in your own bubble!

my 1st was with epidural & my 2nd au naturel.

i had an easier recovery with #2 then #1 :thumb_yello:

but i had very easy deliveries... #1 total of 4 hours

and #2 was a total of 70 min & that's from the 1st contraction to the delivery :biggrin2:

i'm sure when the time comes vero, you'll know it.

    it's a wonderful experience :wub2:

my mom had 3 easy deliveries that were fast too... I hope genes have something to do with that!

  7. Totally! Can you imagine if they talked to you and told you everything they were doing during your delivery! Most people would prolly pass out! :roftl:

lol!! a lot of people told me that you're in your own world though, in your own bubble during delivery, so you're not reall aware of what happens around you... you have to be focused on your goal : your precious little baby!!

  8. They are very dangerous - I was trying not to say anything because that is a personal decision that every woman has to make for herself. It is an injection into your spine, and besides the immediate risks there are long term effects from it. As far as severe headaches (sometimes for the rest of your life) that is the case of my sister-in-law, niece and cousin.

splitting Caz!!! :roftl: THAT all depends on your DOCTOR! A good doctor will know when that is going to happen and do an episiotomy to prevent you from splitting. I have had it every way. Epioisotomy with the first - second the doctor let me split and the third required NOTHING! Not a single stitch! THAT was heaven!

It has been proven that now epidurals are very safe, all the doctors say it. I am not afraid of it, and I know tons of people who had it and had no long term effects whatsoever...

I think it's a personal decision and you just have to be aware of the pros and cons

  9. Ohhhhh...that's alright then lol...I just hated the thought of going into labour and screaming...AAARRRRGGGHHH....and then...*rip"...OMFGGGGGGGG

:roftl::roftl: but if the nurses know you're gonna split they split it for you so it's a lot cleaner, neater and easier to patch up...

:roftl::roftl: the way you described that I totally pictured the situation with the *rip* sound like somebody ripped their pants :roftl:

  10. Epidurals can be dangerous as well...aren't they injected into your back? I heard that if they inject in the wrong place it can paralyse you

One thing that scares me about birth is splitting :roftl::roftl: Ohhhhhhhhhh how horrible. (Sorry Véro :roftl:)

Epidurals are indeed injected into your back but it's now a very safe and common procedure...

About splitting... lol... apparently when it does happen you don't feel it right away or it doesn't hurt cause the skin is so stretched... it's when it's healing that you feel the discomfort

  11. SMALL? If you feel the pains I have sometimes they are definitely not small :roftl: But I know they're nothing compared to the real thing...

When my mum had her first child she had everything: Gas, drugs and air...I think :roftl::roftl: She was drugged up to her eyeballs, my dad had to keep waking her up to tell her she was having contractions :lmfao: Needless to say her first birth was an absolute dawdle and she didn't see the fuss everyone made about it. But then she had her second without the drugs and was like "Ohhhhhhhhhh now I understand" :roftl::roftl::roftl:

    :roftl::roftl:

Good thing you did your homework regarding epidurals. It definitely has it's pros and cons. The cons were just too big a risk for me, and that is why I did it natural. Just remember God does not give you more then you are able to handle - and I DO BELEIVE that also goes for labor! :biggrin2: YOU are stronger then you EVER thought possible . . . TRY to not get an epidural because as you said - it will makes the delivery SO much easier!

yeah I know all about the pros and cons... but I will not hesitate to ask for it if I need it and I think no one should be ashamed of doing so.

I think that machine thing is great though, gives you the best of both worlds it seems

  12. Yeah . . .they give you a preview of things to come! Just multiply what you felt last night times 1,000 on the level of intensity. Labor is all mental, r e a l l y. You KNOW it is going to be painful - you just have to remember to breathe right <KEY> and 'get out of your head' go somewhere else during the really big ones. Do you have any idea if you are going to get an epidural or doing it natural? I did it natural all 3 times - so I have no idea the joys of an epidural. With my second child I did NOT e v e n have any pain meds WHAT SO EVER! It dosen't get an more 'natural' then that! :teehee:

I'll see if I can handle it but I'll most probably end up begging for an epidural loll!! Cool thing we have at my hospital, is that the epidural is linked to a machine that allows you to control the amount of medication you get. They start of with a very light dose and you can increase it with a little pump thing if you feel the need to. Of course, the machine is programmed so you can't give yourself too much medication! But what's great about it is you can reduce the pain to a level you can handle, without having your lower body go completly numb. Because the epidural does tend to slow down labor and makes it harder to push properly.

  13. Oh I see!! Jeez the mind has a mind of it's own, hasn't it.

Thing is...when on my monthly, sometimes (not all the time) I can get really bad pains...because period pains are contractions aren't they...I usually get them in my lower back rather than my lower abdomen...but they've been so painful I've been sick multiple times :aah: But because of these intense pains, does that mean this is good preparation for pregnancy or will I go through a horrific pregnancy? :aah:

Yeah period pains are small contractions... but I don't know if there's a link between those and the kind of labor you're gonna have...

  14. Braxton Hicks is false labor pains (that can seems quite REAL) I had some PAINFUL intense ones . . hence the reason I went to the hospital. It is your uterus contracting at the end of pregnancy in preparation for the FINAL EVENT . .. birth! :wub2:

    It's basically rehearsal contractions! :thumb_yello:

  15. If you had a fake labour that was pretty intense...despite the fact whether you could talk or not...I'd say she's almost cooked :teehee: I hope so anyway :roftl:

    So...what are Braxton Hicks anyway?

    taken from : http://www.babycenter.ca/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/braxtonhicks/#2

    What are Braxton Hicks contractions?

Some time towards the middle of your pregnancy, or maybe even earlier, you may notice the muscles of your uterus (womb) tightening. If you place your hands on your bare bump when this is happening, you can feel how hard your uterus becomes.

Each tightening usually lasts for about half a minute, and probably won't cause you any discomfort. You may have this sensation once or twice an hour, a few times a day (Cheng and Caughey 2009). Not all of us feel these contractions. They get their name from John Braxton Hicks, the English doctor who first described them in 1872.

You may be aware of Braxton Hicks contractions from as early as 16 weeks (Shepherd et al 2004:238). However, without you realising, your uterus has been contracting gently on and off since about seven weeks (Murray and Hassall 2009:191). The bigger your uterus gets, the more you notice the tightening sensations when they happen.

What do Braxton Hicks contractions do?

Braxton Hicks contractions may just be a sign that your uterus is keeping its muscle fibres toned. It could be that these contractions keep your uterus in good condition and ready for the rigours of labour.

Some experts think the contractions also affect your cervix. In early labour, your cervix starts to get shorter and more stretchy (Walsh 2004:430), ready to dilate and make way for your baby. It's possible that Braxton Hicks contractions give your cervix a bit of a rehearsal for the stretching stage.

Other experts think that Braxton Hicks contractions don't affect your cervix. They believe that your cervix doesn't change until the very last days of your pregnancy (Murray and Hassall 2009:192; Baker 2006:53), or once you're in labour itself (Cheng and Caughey 2009).

  16. No no no this is GOOD news!! Very good news!!! She'll be out any day now :thumb_yello::wub2::woot_jump:

I don't know... things are reeeaaaallly calm now... I don't think she's in a hurry!

It is VERY common to have Braxton Hicks at the very end of pregnancy! After all your body is GETTING READY  With my first one - I was at the hospital at least 3 times at the end - and sent home each time. My son was 5 days late. The LAST time I went to the hospital (they sent me HOME) when I got HOME . . it kicked in FOR REAL, and I spent my entire labor all alone in my room banging my head against the wall <literally> (I was only 17) we made it to the hospital the next morning and he was born a mere 20 minutes later! WHAT A DAY/NIGHT/DAY! :naughty:

Yeah I've had Braxton Hicks before but I thought Braxton Hicks weren't suppose to be painful and not regular... last night my contractions were regular and were painful... but not that painful either... so I guess they weren't real!

I watched a program on Discovery Health Channel last week - I forget what it was called - but, it was all about a baby from conception to birth. It was SO interesting and I learned SO much that I did not KNOW! :aah: It turns out that it is entirely THE BABY that decides when it is TIME to be born! Seriously. When the lungs are completely mature - the baby releases a hormone that starts labor. EVERYTHING about pregnancy/birth is truly SUCH a miracle!!!! :wub2:

Pregnancy is SUCH a fascinating thing!!! It truly is a miracle and I still can't believe I have now a full grown /complete baby in my belly... and it all started with one tiny cell!

I can't wait for the news Vero!

I am sure Rosalie will be here soon. If you can talk or think during contractions, then it may be a little while before she makes an appearance. You won't be wondering when it all really kicks into high gear.

Just think/visualize WIDE OPEN CIRCLES when the contractions come, it helps to make things move faster. :wink2:

I loved giving birth, I could have had 10 babies, but not hubby, 3 was enough for him:aah:

And when it comes to breastfeeding, well.... you know where I am. Just get into skin to skin contact with Rosalie as soon as you can after birth. let her lead the way (she can find it all by herself) and things should all go well. (It's her birthday, give her lots of hugs!!)

    /end lecture:biggrin2:

yes that's the thing... my friend told me when she called the hospital to ask if it was time to come (here they ask you to call the hospital before going... that way they can ask you questions to help identify if it's real labor and get ready for you when you do come), they told her if it's real contractions, you can't talk during a contraction... I was able to.

  17. Aaahhhh you are making me n e r v o u s now! Everytime I see you on here, I wonder if you are posting that you are in labor (or your water just broke) and you are on the way to the hospital!

. . . those old tales do not work :mf_rosetinted: My neice is also preggers and do ANY s e c o n d . . . and she has BEEN trying all that mess. NOTHING has worked! Still funny to hear her tell me all of the craziness she has been trying! :roftl:

yeah... I guess we gotta let nature decide when it's time!

  18. May 11th, 2010

we had a false alarm during the night...

I was having contractions every 10 minutes... so I decided to take a bath (they say that if you take a bath and the contractions continue and speed up and get more intense, then it's real labor, if not, they will slow down). My contractions got more intense in the bath and peeked at every 3 minutes... so we thought "this is it!" I ate something, my bf too, he got his things ready... I went to the living room and sat down... and the contractions started to slow down...

It was the middle of the night so I was really tired... so I just sat there and the contractions slowly stopped and I fell asleep...

I have to admit I'm a little disappointed :( I thought that was it and I would finally get to meet my little girl! And my poor bf didn't get much sleep and now has to work today...

Oh well, better luck next time I guess!
