  1. ...

    -_-

He'd better get some rest now, for ****'s sake.

    ARGH. ****.

My mum once got pneumonia a couple of years back from overwork. She's fine now, but what I'm worried about is whether Mika will actually rest adequately. My mum spent about two weeks in hospital, then rested for another week at home before she went back to work. I have a bad feeling that someone's gonna go "WORK, MAGGOT!" before even a week is up or something and have him perform again.

    H*(E*IJ(OIDJOEIIHF*IHSJFHI(*RHU£&T*IWUJH.

    Urgh. :mad3:

  2. If it was at my house in Kent (which would be better than my studio flat in London, which is only really made for one person XD), then my mum and I would probably make a roast dinner or something. :biggrin2: My aunt would probably join us, and my dad might do, but my brother, who has decided he disapproves of Mika, would probably just shut himself in his room and play Guild Wars or something. *LOL*

After dinner, we'd probably all be full, but my mum would most likely try to force some surprise dessert on us, as she so loves to do. XD Then we'd probably all just sit and chat, and at some point, my anime geekiness AND my music geekiness would emerge simultaneously, and I'd probably be babbling about various anime and music and recommending stuff to Mika for ages! *LOL*

  3. Yeah, at the time I discovered Kerrang!, the stuff on the radio was rap, boy/girlbands and random trance rubbish. While I like some rap and hiphop, it tends to be the older stuff rather than the modern stuff (though there are a few exceptions), so this combination was driving me potty! After I realised that there was even better stuff than on Kerrang!, I dug deeper and deeper into the world of music to find loads of interesting stuff that I'd never even heard of before. Now I often use Last.fm to help me find cool new stuff, but just going through genres on Wikipedia can produce good results too.

I don't think UK radio is quite as bad as it used to be (I mean hey, we've got Mika brightening up the soundwaves now! :biggrin2: ), but I've never heard US radio, so I can't judge. I actually thought you lot got loads of rock on the radio, 'cause I'd often hear people complaining about how songs like 'I Stand Alone' by Godsmack were overplayed (at the time that came out, hearing it on UK radio would've been a cause to celebrate!), but I guess that's not necessarily the case?

  4. I'm glad someone agrees with me! You listed some good ones. :)

    Thankyou! :biggrin2:

Interestingly enough, the reason I discovered a lot of these bands is because I became so tired of hearing "UH! UH! MAH HOMIES IN DA CLUB!" in practically every song on the radio that I was forced to look elsewhere for something decent... I ended up watching the Kerrang! channel for a bit, and discovered rock! My life was saved! :roftl:

  5. I think some of you are being too hard on our American music! I mean, sheesh, we may not put out as many good bands as England, but we've still got alot gems!

I'll admit, most of my fave bands come from the UK, too, but there are some also some freaking awesome American bands.

Yes! There is some fabulous music from America, I'll prove it to you all~!

System of a Down - Chop Suey!

The song that got me into SOAD. It's from their album 'Toxicity', which I highly recommend!

    R.E.M. - Daysleeper

One of my favourite songs by the band. ^_^ If you like this, check out Nightswimming and All the Way to Reno!

    Santana -

Carlos Santana, the band's frontman, was born in Mexico, but the band was formed in San Fransisco. Some lovely Latin rock for ya, from the band that's said to have made the genre famous worldwide!

    Audioslave - Cochise

My mum likes this because it "sounds kinda like Led Zep!" :biggrin2: *LOL* Audioslave was a rock supergroup that unfortunately broke up earlier this year, consisting of the instrumentalists of Rage Against The Machine and Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. Chris Cornell's vocals are simply fabulous, and if you like this, try out Soundgarden and also Cornell's solo stuff!

    Tool -

This is a little long, at over 7 minutes, and the video is pretty cuckoo, but give it a try anyhow! This is from their album 'Lateralus', which is fantastic. I like Maynard James Keenan's voice ^_^

    Tenacious D - Tribute

This song is so freakin' funny XD as is the rest of their debut album, but if you like this and choose to search for more stuff by Tenacious D, then I'll warn you that their humour is not for kiddies or those who are easily offended! This song is pretty safe, though. Enjoy~!

    Frank Klepacki - Hell March

Frank Klepacki is best known for his work on the soundtracks of the Command & Conquer series, but has his own solo albums out too. This song is from Command & Conquer: Red Alert, which is a great game with an even better soundtrack!

    Lenny Kravitz -

Lenny Kravitz started out in 1989, and this song was released in 1993, but it still rocks my socks. :biggrin2: He's set to release a new album this November.

Nine Inch Nails - We're In This Together

NIN just released a new album this April, but this fantastic song is from their 1999 album 'The Fragile'.

Okay, I think that'll do for now XD

  6. Well, these are just some British musicians I like, not necessarily what's actually popular (I don't follow the pop charts these days... XD; *teh granny*)...

    Muse - Sing for Absolution

This is one of my favourite songs of theirs. Unfortunately, it doesn't showcase Matt Bellamy's lovely falsetto all that much, but it's a gorgeous song nonetheless.

Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence

This is the song that got me into Depeche Mode! If you're into synthpop, you'll probably like this.

    Skunk Anansie -

This song used to be on the radio all the time when I was a kid, but it's still fabulous, even today. Their other songs tended to be a bit louder *LOL* but this is one of my favourites of theirs.

    Brian Eno -

Blah, I really wanted to put a link to 'Baby's On Fire' or 'Another Day On Earth' up, but alas, they don't seem to exist as videos! Anyhow, Brian Eno started off with Roxy Music back in the early 70's (or was it late 60's?), then started a solo career as well as producing other artists' works. He's famous for his ambient works, but still not all that well-known. This song is from his 2006 album, 'Another Day On Earth'.

Dragonforce - Through the Fire and the Flames

Okay, I'm kinda cheating with this one, because I only know this one song by Dragonforce XD but it's so good, I just have to share it! Unfortunately, this is the shortened version for TV (the full-length version is about seven-and-a-half minutes long), but have fun rocking out to it anyway!

    The Cranberries - Dreams

This is from their album 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?', which I love. Ah, brings back memories... XD

    Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

I only got into Radiohead a year or two ago, but I really like them now. Thom Yorke has such a lovely voice, IMO. ^_^ This is from their second album, 'The Bends', which is fabulous, but not quite as good as 'OK Computer' (and actually, I was originally gonna put up a link to 'Paranoid Android', but the video has some cartoon bloke chopping all his limbs off with an axe [this doesn't get censored, but the mermaids' bare breasts do, because they're clearly more offensive *LOL*], so I thought better of it).

    Dido - Life for Rent

I really like her voice. This is one of the standout tracks from her second album, but the first is better.

I'm gonna go and have a listen to what everybody else has posted now :biggrin2:

  7. he's got a rock solid foundation and a family to help slap him down to reality...

Haha, that gave me this mental picture of Mika starting to act all diva-ish, then his family getting angry and gathering to lay the smackdown on him :roftl: hahahaha!

    ANYHOW.

What I admire about Mika is the way he just seems to radiate joy, and also the way he's quite happy to be his interesting, quirky self without giving a damn what anyone else thinks. I've never come across anyone else before who'd make a little speech about how important it is that he feeds his Tamagotchi, or who'd insist on skipping to the zoo :roftl: and it's just nice to see, y'know? Watching interviews with him in and listening to his music always brings a smile to my face. ^_^

  8. My daughter got her ears pierced for her birthday...

    But she wanted it herself...:wink2:

She turned 7 yesterday but she wanted it when she was 3!!

I thought 3 was really too young to do that, but now I was okay with it..:blush-anim-cl:

That's fine if that's what she wanted... ^_^ what I was trying to say is that I disagree with piercings on very young children (like, before they can even speak) because they can't make the decision themselves. I believe that body modification should be the choice of the person whose body is going to be modified, not anyone else's.

[EDIT] Ooh, sherry_baby managed to reply faster than me XD but yeah!

  9. Ronaldo...? *asks Google who this is*

Ehhh, Mika wins easily. This Ronaldo bloke does nothing for me.

[EDIT] Oh, you meant a different Ronaldo. He's cute, but nawwww. Mika pwns him XD

  10. I've only got one piercing in each ear, and I think that's enough for me XD

Though I did once look at a body modification site, and saw a page about people getting their ears shaped like elf ears... maybe if I get filthy rich, I'll have that done someday!

    Ear piercings are very normal!

But I hate seeing them on toddlers!!

    And little boys...

Why would you do that?!

    x

I can't stand seeing them on very young children... body modification should be the person's choice, otherwise it's just mutilation, IMO.

  11. Well, I don't have pictures of him on my walls anyway... the last time I put pictures of a celebrity on my wall was back when the Spice Girls first got famous, haha! And while I admire the fact that he always seems to manage to give off so much positivity, I've never actually thought of him as being perfect or anything like that. I see him as a human being, with imperfections like everyone else, despite the fact that I haven't actually been able to see much of his negative side, as I don't know him. (It would be interesting to see more of his negative side, actually...)

If I'd known Mika before he got famous, would I still come on here? It's possible I would, just out of interest, and also because of the friendly atmosphere on here. I think I'd still be amused at the randomtasticness of some of the threads on here XD haha.

  12. NIKKI

    Gender: Feminine

    Usage: English

    Pronounced: NIK-ee [key]

Pet form of NICOLE or NICOLA (2)

    NICOLA (2)

    Gender: Feminine

    Usage: English

    Latinate feminine form of NICHOLAS

    NICHOLAS

    Gender: Masculine

    Usage: English, French

Pronounced: NI-ko-las (English), nee-ko-LA (French) [key]

From the Greek name Νικολαος (Nikolaos) which meant "victory of the people" from Greek νικη (nike) "victory" and λαος (laos) "people". Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century bishop from Anatolia who, according to legend, saved the daughters of a poor man from lives of prostitution. He is also known as Santa Claus (from Dutch Sinterklaas), the bringer of Christmas presents. He is the patron saint of children, sailors and merchants, and Greece and Russia. Nicholas was also the name of two czars of Russia and five popes.

    Yay, I'm Lady Claus XD

  13. I'd either want him to go to the zoo with me, or to an amusement park.

Heh, I was in Camden yesterday, and I saw a sign saying that London Zoo was nearby, and my first thought was, "MIKAAAA!! Let's skip to the zoo! =D" :roftl:

Anyhow, I would probably take him to Morelli's Gelato, buy him as much gelato as he could possibly want (it doesn't matter how much it adds up to in the end!), and then we'd just sit and chat about random stuffs. ^_^

  14. MOOSE.

I can't believe I've managed to overlook this thread until now, LOL, that's just not like me XD

    My current thoughts:

    Yar.

I keep procrastinating things. It's really annoying. I wish I wouldn't do it. Garrrrgh. >_O

My CD rack is still empty even though I moved here several weeks ago now, and the room's just generally in a mess.

The light! The colour! The joy!

Please don't kill yourself with all of this =S

    The Monochrome World needs you!

    Ua, halyshoshe fashy...

(^har, all that makes no sense... XD I think Serial Experiments Lain has put me in a random mood)

I must go and do my CD rack. And feed my ever-hungry gob.

    Ah, loymofau ni...

(^hooray for making your own languages... XD)
