  1. For my friends I email out a weekend update (my life seems to be remarkably eventful). Here is my update from 2 weekends ago... you guys would at least appreciate the 'Over My Shoulder' part of the story... enjoy. Saturday. 38 degrees. Went to friend’s birthday party at her house in Abbotsford. No air con. No fan. Decided it was a fabulous idea to re-visit 1992 and purchase a six-pack of West Coast Coolers from Vietnamese dodgy bottleshop (six-pack possibly in bottleshop since 1992). Consumed many Westies and also 4 smirnoffs and at least a bottle of wine from 7pm-11pm. Was trolleyed. Midnight: walked to tram stop. Admired orange knit dress in the Vinnies window whilst waiting for tram. Got off tram at Spencer St & walked rest of way home. Sang “Over My Shoulder” at the top of my voice whilst walking (lyrics changed to hot... drunk....late...tired) and stopped at docklands park for a go on the swings. Wobbled the rest of the way home, and it is very possible that I took my dress off after getting off the lift at home, before getting to my front door.
  2. Try being 27 and explaining to your mum why you have a Mika concert poster (framed) on your loungeroom wall. My explanation was that it added distinct colour to the room, not sure if she bought that though.
  3. Have stolen a fan from the server room, so I'm surviving. Mental note to ask someone WTF the air-con switch is on Monday!!!
  4. I bailed work at 5 yesterday and headed for a gin & tonic at Docklands. Back at *work* today, but will see how long I last. No set hours, and am not expected to be here (and am alone in the office) but I work in events, and this coming week is a big one for me. Still NFI how to get the air-con on!
  5. Good afternoon all, Happy Australia Day! It's bloody hot in Melbourne (I had to throw in a 'bloody' somewhere, otherwise it would have been un-Australian. I'm at work, but can't work out how to put the air-conditioning on (Mon-Fri office building, and everything else comes on with sensors, but so far no air con - and do you think there are switches - NO). Anyways... not sure if you've already seen, but on the home page of iTunes (Australia) there is MIKA single (Big Girl) & exclusive track (Sweet Dreams from Hong Kong). It's also got Instant Martya, which we haven't been able to buy in Aus before (legally), and a Tom Middleton remix of Big Girl. Not a fan of the remixes, but the 4 songs are $3.99, so why not. Love B. xoxo
  6. For those with access to FOX8, Mika's Happy Ending was played in the final scene on this week's episode of Gossip Girl. How cool! That's a pretty good effort, as that show is huge in the US.
  7. Interestingly the Fiat website (http://www.fiat500.com) news section mentions that “pop star Mika will be performing several tracks from her album...” see below. Now my Engrish is pretty good, but mistaking his for her? What kind of PR people are these people employing? Note to PR people: DO SOME RESEARCH!!! A spectacular party for the launch of the Fiat 500 in the UK - January 2008 The 21st of January 2008 will be a red-letter day for the UK. The Fiat 500, ‘Car of the Year 2008’, will be officially launched on the UK market, and to mark the occasion a spectacular event has been organised at the British Airways London Eye in London. At 8.00 p.m. (GMT +2) on January 21, exactly 500 hours after the start of the year, the eyes of the British public will look to the skies: the British Airways London Eye , the highest panoramic wheel in Europe, will be lit up in a fanfare of lights and colours, and inside one of its glass cabins will be the Fiat 500. A complete turn of the wheel will carry the new car into the skies over London, and it will be remaining in its glass cabin for a full two weeks following the event. This will undoubtedly be the most exciting and spectacular part of the evening, but the event will be starting beforehand, at 6.00 p.m., with bands, DJs and top presenters. There will also be a spectacular fireworks display, and pop star Mika will be performing several tracks from her album ‘In Cartoon Motion’, in celebration of the real star of the evening: the Fiat 500. The whole event will be followed by national radio and television, and it will also be broadcast in a live web streaming in Fiat Dealerships up and down the country. From the 24th Jan up to the 3rd February, the Fiat 500 will continue to travel around the London Eye in a private capsule and you could touch and experience other 4 Fiat 500 positionated around the site. Here you could also design and win your own unique Fiat 500 on our configurator. Make a date in your diary for January 21 in London. And if you can’t be there in person, then later you will be able to see and hear all about the spectacular event on the site http://www.fiat500.com.
  8. Thank-you for the warm welcome to the Aussie thread. In answer to a question about working in London... will be working at the Olympics, so will be there about 4 years. Should be good, but part of me is more excited about the prospect of Mika concerts. Re the seaworld trip... Dreamworld is even better (for rides, and my opinion is based on not carting kids around all day with me). But Dreamworld is definitley a winner. Wish I was up in *sunny*/flooded QLD!
  9. Greetings AUS, Thanks for your welcome messages (Walks in to the room...). Just thought I'd say hello. I live in Melbs (although am a QLD girl), and my friends don't share the same enthusiasm for Mika as I do (they like his music, but not so obsessed with repeating every song as I am), so I thought I'd find-a-friend online who speaks fluent Mika. I'll be working in London from December 08, so surely I'll cross paths with a Mika concert at some stage this year (V Festival ticket has been filed in the bin). B. xo
  10. Again, taking full advantage of company resources... I'm in Melbourne. Thanks for the reply - I DO love the MFC already!
  11. Hi MFCers, I've been a member for a while, but as I only have the internet at work (oops, should I be on the net for personal use?), I haven't had much interaction on the forums: only to convey my utter psychological trauma on learning that Mika wasn't making an appearance at the VFestival (Australia). I am slowly recovering, and simultaneously saving to make it the other side of the world to go to a concert. As you would all agree, Mika is a genius - his music is amazing. Would love to hear from fellow Australian Mika fans... B.
  12. All mention of MIKA has disappeared from the V Festival home page today! http://vfestival.com.au/site/ He is no longer listed on the lineup - WHAT IS GOING ON???
  13. Found out that MIKA is performing at the VFestival 08 in Australia, March/April 08 (Sydney, Gold Coast, Melbourne). Tickets at VFESTIVAL.COM.AU Thought he'd be sick of touring, but I am VERY happy that he's heading to AUS!
