I'm Jitter and I slowly grew a fan of Mika. Yes indeed, I was not immediately flabbergasted by his music or anything, nor was I struck by his unusual voice and sound. I had heard his songs several times on the radio, but never put any attention to it. Even worse: i didn't even notice it!
But at one point I moved to another town and construction work was still going on near my house. As everyone knows: construction workers start off the day early and they usually do so with the music playing LOUD. So every single morning at 7.00 AM exact, they would turn their radios on and have me 'enjoy' their music as well...
As it turned out, they were playing Mika's song 'Relax' over and over again. I locked my door, closed my windows, but still I would hear Mika's voice singing 'Relax.... Take it eeeeeeeeeaaasssssseyyyyyyy'. At some point when his song was not on the constructioners radios, I found myself humming this song my self. After a while the humming transformed into singing, since I had learned the lyrics...
And then I became curious... Who was this fellow, with that strangly high pitched voice. The BeeGees came across my mind, but this music was so different, so vibrant and happy. So ofcourse, I asked my husband... He frowned and replied: "dunno, but didn't he have some other hit a while ago... Grace something?"
Well, to cut the story short: I found out that his name was Mika. Listened in to his other music, liked it and eventually bought his cd. My oldest son is now trying to sing allong with his songs (even though he doesn't speak a single word of English) and my middle son is dancing to it. They both love the 'kaching' on the end of 'Grace Kelly', both imitating it and wanting to see the movie 'Cars' (I wonder why ).
So that's it. I became a fan!
