  1. Invader! :roftl:

Welcome aboard Francis!! The other day i was on luke´s myspace and checked yours. You sound really cool!! :thumb_yello:

Take care of Luke!! He always works with great people and this is not an exception! ;)

Any plans to come to Spain anytime soon? :naughty: (no chance to go to Amsterdam or Aylesbury)

Once the album is ready and available we'll be working on putting together a comprehensive promotion plan that will surely involve gigs. so stay tuned!

PS: Sariflor is right about the sergio dalma thing..

Check him out here (if you dare!!) --> http://youtube.com/watch?v=uckQCMaPI8o

Ohmigod YES! That song you linked to, All For You, is one of the best things to come out of the '90s. :wub2:

What a really cool concept. It makes so much sense! Intriguing that it was set up by a couple of ex-Sony/BMG execs, at least according to what I'm seeing on the interweb.

So the goal with sellaband, then, is for a band to drum up support early on to get the cash for a debut album, then hope that Big Labels come a knocking after the debut album has started to fly off shelves?

As one of just a handful of artists who've met the $50,000 mark, I'd be curious to know how your experience recording has been. The site promises to hook you up with talented producers, etc, and let you retain creative control. Has that been your experience?

Also - I see that the revenue generated by Believers is directed toward the creation of the album, but what about touring in support of it? Do the financial resources to tour have to come from the artist's pocket?

Yes, but ultimately each artist is going to have a unique experience based on their talent, their connections and their overall approach to recording. I have been very lucky as Steve Bush has committed most of his year to this album. One by one the big names have been coming on board, and Luke is another addition to what is fanastic team of musicians and human beings. You heard it here first, because you are tru music lovers. This album is going to take the world by storm!

Unfortunately, that $50k does not include promotion and touring budget. That's why staying connected to my fans directly is so important. You'll find that this is more common as the labels have no more money and the industry goes down the drain. Ultimately, my goal is to get the album licenced by a major distributor, who can fun the necesasry promotion.

  2. Welcome to MFC! And yes, you've been duly warned; be nice to Luke, he's mad talented and much loved.

I like your flavour of music - Walk With Me has a certain je ne sias quoi that I'm quite enjoying. Do you write music as well as perform it? Also pretty cool that you've got a few of the tracks available for download.

I'm intrigued by sellaband.com - I'd never heard of it before. One can argue that MySpace revolutionized the way music is shared with fans, but this is on a whole new level. It's brilliant really - and very carefully crafted, by the looks of things, on both the part of the artists and the believers. I wonder how Big Music Labels feel about the sort of change that's happening in terms of how the Internet is shaping the music industry.

Big labels are either dead or dying. Seriously folk, the music industry is changing. It'a all about 2 things: the artist, and the music lover. We can "work" with our fans directly now, we're in business together. That's exactly what I did with Sellaband. My fans financed my album, and they will share in the profits. That way, everyone is responsible for marketing and promotion, and it's great because I get to have a "real" friendship with my fans and there is not middleman filtering it out.

Sooo, what happens if an artist is on sellaband and Big Muisc comes a knockin' with big plans and big dollar signs? I wonder if that sort of thing happens with any frequency...?

That's the idea entirely. Sellaband is not a traditional label. It's in their interest that an artists gets picked up moves on to a major label. They own a % of publishing rights on the songs, so they stand to gain if and artist/song is successful.

Ooh, I'm impressed; that's a brilliant display of targeting one's message to his particular audience. What a perfect thing to say to a captive audience full of music lovers. Kudos! :thumb_yello:

thank you lollipop! well, this is just me being me. I'm very active with my music community, and my fans (many of which are also my friends) are an integral part of how I make music. This is my way. And I'm glad you appreciate it! Gradually I'm going to be releasing lots of content exclusively to e-team members of my website(http://www.francisrodino.com) so stay tuned for more stories and adventures of Me, Luke and the rest of the band..

  3. you guys and girls should know that as an indie artist the connection with my friends and fans is absolutely paramount. I've achieved my sucess so far from the ground up...it's the people - music lovers like you that are making this album with Luke possible. So until we have a major label backing and promotion, we count on people like you to support us by spreading the word....

  4. Hey Francis!!

    Welcome!:biggrin2:

You have a very talented guy on your hands! I'm so glad for both of you. Can't wait to hear the new stuff.:thumb_yello:

    Thanks so much Biggrin2!

I see by your profile, that you favour musicians from the South West of England. You are indeed a man of great taste:wink2:.

what did you expect! i'm a classy son of a bitch;-)

  5. What sort of amateurs do you take us for :naughty: We had already listened before you posted here:roftl:

    You're good! Very soulful.

    well excuse me!!! LOL

Ohh, I'm discovering your music just now :roftl:

    One Love :wub2: *sigh*

Tour Germany! Bring Luke! Please :thumb_yello:

I promise I will be there, we have lots of fans in Germany - but first, we have an album to finish! ;-)

  6. ransom for Luke? more than you could possibly afford!

@ Guylainment123: I was the 2nd UK -based artist to reach a $50,000 album budget via the groundbreaking website and label Sellaband (http://www.sellaband.com). Sellaband allows independent artists to connect with music lovers around the world - "believers" who invest in your album, essentially pre-buying your album.

The project is an exciting one. We've got Steve Bush producing, who (among many others) produced the 3 biggest selling Stereophonics records, and a fantastaci band, inclding Luke Juby.

It's big and bold and beautiful, and we've been in the studio since January. Demos are up on my website (http://www.francisrodino.com) and myspace, but you'll just have to wait for the studio versions onthe album.

so that's my story! I hope you'll spare some time to listen!

    Francis

  7. Luke rocks like a hot mamma on crack!

we were in the studio last week and you should have heard him on the beatuiful steinway grand piano!

i'm priviledged to have him on board, and I hope you guys will help us out by spreading the word and keeping in touch once the record is out.

    Francis
