  1. A couple of words about queuing now...

It was one of my coolest queuing experiences so far because of the circumstances. Sienna and I turned up rather ’early ’ by ’London standards’, partly to collect my ticket from the box office. There were 2 fans already there and we added our names to the list then left shortly afterwards . We intended to go back so that the others could leave to have breakfast but we got text message that more fans arrived, so we decided to take a sightseeing tour instead as we bumped into this service on our way. We did not return until after lunch and it was decided that we cross our names on the original list and move to the end. It was absolutely fair although made no real difference yesterday as it was only 15 fans queuing until 4pm. (So we basically had a 99 per cent chance of ending up front row – which we did :wink2:) . However, then we all started to think about how we should probably implement a similar system at the forthcoming gigs...

The idea basically is that the first ones arriving should start a list (without writing numbers on hands) and check the queue every half an hour. If you are not there two times in a row, you will automatically lose your original place on the list and get signed up again when you return. Then the numbers will only be written on your hand at a later stage (2-3 pm?) so that we wouldn ’t need to deal with crossing the numbers off on the hands of people whose names have been moved further down the list.

This is just an idea and might need to be refined to be as fair as possible when we are queuing. I think it really can happen to anyone that you arrive early but for some reason –e.g. the weather, tiredness or friends suggesting different programmes – you decide to take a longer break than an half an hour... So it wouldn ’t be against people leaving the queue. Rather, it would be a system to ensure that we are as fair as possible with people queuing without any longer break.

I like this idea. Some of us had a problem with the system at the show I attended last year. There were MFCers who got there around 7am and gave those of us who arrived next numbers. After this they left, saying they were going to their hotel for a nap. It was a good four or five hours they were gone. To me, that's taking advantage of the system. I had flown in overnight and I sat in the queue for 10 hours, only leaving twice for bathroom breaks, so it was a bit frustrating to see a group of five or six people who only spent a grand total of a few hours in the queue get the front row center spots. The number thing can work, but only if people are fair to one another. :thumb_yello:

Thanks to you and everyone else for your reports/pics/vids!!

  2. The idea of Mika being the next big thing in the US makes me giddy. I don't know if I'm thrilled at the prospect or feeling slightly nauseous. :naughty:

Sirius XM Hits has BIOTG on a voting list of "What is your favorite SIRIUS XM Hits 1 Hit-Bound song?"

He's only got 2% at the moment, but get voting people. :biggrin2:

Thanks for the tip pattycakes. :thumb_yello:

ooh, nice! will start vote spamming now. :naughty:

  3. I am hoping and praying for a return to the states in 2010, and reeeeallllly hoping to see some southern dates. I missed the LICM gig here, thanks to a family wedding. I'm in Atlanta and could only afford one show on this last tour, since I had to fly across the country for it! If he played some Southern states, a multi-show road trip could be possible. :naughty:

  4. Americans like Americans in their charts and it makes a lot more sense to me to emphasize the fact that he's American than that he was born in the Middle East :dunno:

I totally forget that most people probably don't even know that he is partly American. I guess, like Mika himself, I don't consider him to be ANY single nationality, so I don't even think about how that affects charting.

    :emot-sad:

  5. Im getting very frustrated here in the states....I question the record company interest here. For awhile I was hearing things from radio station folks and independant music stores like "he can't be commercially promoted here because of his 'sexuality and flamboyance.'" I thought yeah, maybe it's a marketing issue because folks are rather small minded around here....but look at Adam Lambert now....we have an openly gay artist in the top 10 here in Georgia!

The only single to be found in any store I have gone to is Grace Kelly. That's just wrong! I live in the heart of Atlanta, not the middle of nowhere...

I have called different stations, and I don't understand how it's possible that major pop radio stations say they have never received any promotional material for TBWKTM, or that they don't know who Mika is. Why is he not being marketed properly?! :hair::tears:
