  1. Well, she was great in the Queen of the Night aria last year : it fitted her voice and singing style. Shame I never heard it live. :emot-sad:

Actually, if Mika insists on singing with her, I'd rather listen to her sing that one again, followed by Mika singing 'Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen' as Papageno in his Dr John coat (:teehee:) than the two of them singing this lovely-dovey song. I can totally see Mika transfer back to opera style but can't imagine Ida ever being able to sound too credible as a pop singer. :dunno:

I totally associate that aria with his "Doctor John" stage presence, I thought I was the only one. Would definitely love seeing Ida and Meeks doing this together:

    :naughty:
  2. Diana si Alle here. well, noi suntem aici in the middle of the people @ Alba Iulia si am vrea sa facem the so-called video pentru ziua lui Mika. stim ca nu prea am mai discutat de chestia asta dar cred ca noi cel putin o sa il facem, anyway. nu promitem nimic. voiam doar sa va anuntam ca noi n-am renuntat la idee. mai este ceva timp pana in 18, asa ca daca vreti puteti sa va alaturati :biggrin2:

  3. I don´t understand what you mean, it´s just that I still don´t understand all this convo... First I can´t understand why you are too upset lately (not only with the song, also with Ida and of course with Jodie) as if you are afraid to discover the "real" Mika... Lena, Mika is a singer/songwriter who writes and will write songs to sing with other people... don´t make a drama if he decides to sing songs with friends or mates of label... He was working with Empire of the Sun, and that Canadian girl (sorry, don´t remember the name) who sang so fine... Mika is almost 28 and he lives in London. He has friends. He likes to party. To party and to sing with Ida... Don´t you think it would be better for you if you just take what you like and skip what you don´t like?? It´s not what I do, cause I take everything... He wants to party with Jodie?? it´s ok for me, I had a good laugh when I see the pic the first time... OH COME ON!!! IT´S FUNNY!! HE LOOKS LIKE AN ALPHA MALE!!!:aah::aah:

But for what I´ve read from you these last months, you are not used to Mika´s eccentricities, and he is quite eccentric... I can´t imagine how your reaction was when he was caught totally drunk going out from that drag queens party years ago... Mika is not just the smiling guy who sings Lollipop on stage... He is also a human being who likes to party and to do silly things... Be happy Lena...

    Definitely.

I totally agree that some things he does may not be to everyone's satisfaction, but that's it, you've nothing to do. And why would you do anything? Why would we complain about anything he does, not musically-related? I don't think we're right in doing that, just because I'm sure we wouldn't like having people watching over us all the time and quickly criticize everything that is not to their satisfaction.

We are either OK with what he does and simply take minor things that we don't like as things we shouldn't be concerned about, or have a break and come back when we are OK with it :roftl: I just don't get it when people make a whole lot of fuss about things that are not even up to them, like Mika's private life.

OK, done. I am gloriously off-topic now, I know.

    :mf_rosetinted:

That's it exactly. He's a human being, not a God or a perfect person. He's just like the rest of us, and I personally wouldn't want him to be any other way, than who he is.

Absolutely. And after all, why would we? This is the guy that we fell for (musically and creatively speaking, of course :mf_rosetinted:) so we should continue to take him the way he is.

  4. ok.

I've heard this song enough now to start making up my mind on WHY I cannot like it....because it's by MIKA.

My mind refuses to accept that this melodic soppy song is by him...then I happened to listen to lady jane, and something switched in my brain. I can like this song, I just have to put it together with the other acoustic songs Mika created, and do not expect it to be the first single of next album, for instance.

I was very angry when I heard the 3 new songs for the first time, disappointed as when I listened to WAG or Kick ass ot the dance version of Rain. I still haven't learn to accept that Mika can actually test himself making all different kind of songs.

I immediately liked the Songs of Sorrow, for instance, loved them at first glance...why this did not happen to me with BIOTW?

because I felt he pulled my leg 1. with the title 2. with the soppiness 3. with the poor lyrics 4. with his terrible rendition with Ida.

But now I am actually starting to accept it, and shiver when I hear Ida's voice. I need not to concentrate on the lyrics much (pls. Mika do something. the only verse I like is 'listen to my song, it won't last too long') and everything is fine....more or less.

Still think it will be ok if he sang it at the piano, his only voice, with passion...and some better lyrics.

And Ida can sing it operatically in her album :biggrin2:

Last but not least I totally love their interaction, they stare at each other, they touch...I absolutely love seeing Mika this way, and I wish their friendship last forever for their mutual satisfaction...a friendship like this is hard to find and must be cherished for ever!

one more thing: I think one can appreciate the song 100% only when in love, in that first phase of falling in love when you say and think all sort of soppiness!! yes....the Origin of Love, that is! heheheheheh

Quite of an interesting point of view you showcased in this foregoing statement. I am happy to see that the song is growing on people who didn't really fell for the song when they first listened to it or jazz, but they're getting more and more fond of it. However though, I don't really know if I could possibly compare BIOTW with Lady Jane. In my opinion, Lady Jane is a complete masterpiece, both musically and conceptually. Those mellow and andante kind of chords are just the perfect way to go around with it, and together with those conceptual lyrics the song is simply taken to a whole new level. I can't really explain the reason why I find Lady Jane so brilliant, but it's just something completely different from everything I've ever come across.

Getting back to BIOTW though, the music is sweet, gentle but UNLIKE Lady Jane, it seems like it's made to be taken upside down and inside out, to quote Suzie :naughty:. And that's why I cannot possibly compare it with Lady Jane. I find that song perfect, and you cannot possibly re-write what's perfect. This is probably one of the first stages BIOTW has been through and maybe once "The Origin of Love" comes out, we will be surprised to find it as a whole new mixture of Mika-ish sounds. :mf_rosetinted:

I really don't know why I like it so much, as it's not anything special neither about the music nor about the lyrics. But again, maybe his stage presence along with Ida's simply make me love it subconsciously :aah:

  5.

Oh yes, what a video! Si culmea ca si de la Beefest tot Happy Ending a fost cel mai cel.. I mean, anul asta chiar a fost cel mai cel :aah: God, it's an year already...

  6. Those fans have no excuse, especially because most of the screaming is in French, so they understood what he was talking about.

Looking at him is really painful. I don't think it's just my impression, he really seems to make efforts to stay in a good mood for the public.. It doesn't really matter if they were close friends or just knew each other.. She was a talented singer his age, he respected her, and her death comes after the Norway tragedy.. It's just too many shocking news at the time.. He is a professional, it's his job to hide his feelings, but first of all he's a human being. And he has all rights to feel this sad.. And fans should have his back no matter what, this is our job. So I don't understand what was the front row doing.. They could have been more supportive..

Well said, Daria! It wasn't necessarily the fact that he was talking about such tragedies (I mean.. it was actually) but the fact that those people came to his concert and while he was trying to spread a message or whatever, they kept screaming and acting like hell. And it's even more impish that he was talking about such a sensitive thing. However.

  7. Yeah, 27 seems like a hell of a number for many guys. Good enough Meeks is done with that number in less than a month :thumb_yello:

But seriously, in spite of the fact that an overdose wasn't that unexpected for Amy to happen, it strikes you when something happens like this and someone dies unnaturally young, doesn't matter why. And it's sad. Poor unhappy creature, as Stephen Fry said.

  8. In Porto some fan asked to Mika, when a song in spanish?

but he didn't answer.... poor Mika he has a serious problem if he has to do songs with all the languages :mf_rosetinted:

and I'm spanish and I like songs in english, french, I think the most important is his music and his voice...

For me Karen is a jewel :wub2:

Perhaps he was too kind to talk to the public in their own language, no matter what country he went to, during last year's tour. He kind of spoils us with all these things he does for his public. And yes, I don't necessarily want him to sing in my own language (actually, not at all :roftl:), but what I mean was that I'm sure he would've done French songs from the moment he came out if he had known that those were going to launch him in the music industry.

    That's what I think, anyway.

  9. The song has been growing on me, and now I love it :wub2:

I get goosebumps while listening to it (lyrics + interpretation)

    like singing along :blush-anim-cl:

Looking forward to the French version of the new album :fangurl:

Yes, me too! I'm really happy he has finally decided to come up with singles in French as well, because I'm sure he wanted to do this since he first came out, but being a British singer at an English-speaking (mostly) record company is not exactly the path to an exclusive French-songs-career, I'd say :teehee:

But he's so good at it and I'm glad he'll finally include some on the album :wink2:

  10.

Very short woman with seven year old child: Excuse me, you're crushing my son.

Me: I'm being crushed, I don't have much choice in the matter I'm afraid.

Very short woman with seven year old child: But your arm is on him.

Me: I can't move my arm anywhere else, there is literally no room. You shouldn't bring your child to a place this crushed if he can't handle it. It's dangerous.

Very short woman with seven year old child: *attempts filthy look* Can you apologise?

Me: I could, but I'm not going to.

Very short woman with seven year old child: =O Bloody English!

    Me: Bloody French!

Very short woman with seven year old child: Actually, I'm Australian.

    Me: Bloody criminal!

    BOOM.

This made my day. Period. :mf_rosetinted::mf_rosetinted:
