  1. Since we're discussing lyrics ,

How can empty loving make you SEAsick ?

    :aah:

This line always made sense to me. When I'm in a relationship, or even occasionally when dealing with a friend, and it just isn't right for whatever reason (empty loving) I usually end up with a stomach ache somewhat similar to seasickness.

  2. Just quoting to say that I must agree with what you and Christine were saying about Toy Boy. In my opinion, it's one of Mika's most accomplished songs, lyrics wise. It's just perfect. The way it's written is poetic, funny, witty and very clever.

Maybe that is another reason why I am disappointed about Elle Me Dit; It seems like such a "downgrade", if you know what I mean?

    P.S.

Having listened a few more times, I think that one of the things that I just can't get over and that bother me a lot about this song is how processed his voice sounds. It almost sounds as if he's singing through a noise filter, if that makes any sense. The voice is not 'clean' sounding :boxed:

Toy Boy is like the Mona Lisa and Elle Me Dit is like a doodle on a napkin. The doodle on the napkin is delightful in its time and it makes you smile, but it's perhaps not as memorable and perfectly put together as the Mona Lisa. That's no good reason to not enjoy it (or be obsessed with it!) :thumb_yello:

  3.

This is exactly what I think. It's easy to say that Mika should favour French markets because they have been more supportive but it's a chicken and egg situation to me. Of course Mika had great success from France right from the beginning but he started losing his English audience along the way as he went from Converse to Louboutins if you know what I mean.

Switching from Converse to Louboutins was a great idea. Converse are horrible for your feet, especially with how much dancing Mika does. :mf_rosetinted:

I know what you meant, though :aah:

  4. I'm not going to quote everyone. That would take all day :naughty:

But no, he's not really an international megastar, not in the States at least. The few people I know who had heard of him knew Grace Kelly, and that was about it. He just hasn't been here enough to get a substantial fanbase. It kind of stinks for the fans he has here, but I don't resent the fact that he goes where the support (and $$$). Heck, I'd probably do the same thing. And lets face it, the US and UK get plenty of famous artists coming through and the rest of the world gets zilch a lot of the time. In a way, it's nice to see the rest of the world have some fun, too :aah:

If he wants to have some fun in French, he's welcome to it as far as I'm concerned. It's maybe not his finest work ever, but I don't need every song to be a perfectly crafted Mona Lisa of a song. There have been quite a few doodles on napkins that I enjoyed more than any million dollar painting. Let the boy have his fun :wub2:

  5. Only 25 minutes? but he looks so sweaty and tired in video and he's not jumping too much... Is Mika getting old? :aah:

Well, he has apparently spent the last few months recording music, drinking coffee, and driving around London with flowers. If his only exercise has be bumbling around Lamb Conduit Street, he may be a bit out of shape :teehee:
