I'm so sick of organising a wedding (and engagement party) right now. Now that I've started it, I can understand why some people hire wedding planners
I think I would tear my hair out if I had to organise everything. You are a brave gal!

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet.

That has got to be the thinnest hell *oops I mean heel I've ever seen.

One of my best friends just flew to Amsterdam to catch up with the love of her life. It's her 30th and he flew her over to have 'the chat' see where it's going, how they are going to go forward (she moves there, he moves here?).
She landed last night. He has a girlfriend. Now she's stranded in the Netherlands.

Elizabeth Taylor films. I seriously don't know if women get more beautiful than Liz in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof....

Woops... late post

He means palate. As in a palate cleanser. As in your taste buds, chefs serve palate cleansers between courses to remove strong flavours of say a main course, before moving on to subtle flavours of a dessert for example.
It's like a refresher. And in modern terminology it's come to mean just refreshing something... or more neutralising something. Not just related to food.

Hmmmm.... good point.
Talking about the weather must be everyone's fall back conversation starter...
I've always thought that too... But it's not as bad as my trusty fall back of 'soooooo... what's your garbage day?'
I get odd looks, but you'd be surprised at how many great convos can emerge from such a simple question.

Someone told me Australia (or maybe it was only Victoria, I'm not sure anymore:blink:)had enough rain this summer to refill the reservoirs that have been emptied in the last six years.
This is pretty much how it is, not just in Victoria.
For example, in Sydney, the main water body that services the entire city is the Warragamba River. Since 1998 it's been at little more than 30% capacity and deemed 'crisis mode' or whatever.
Last Friday it overflowed!!! And this is a MASSIVE dam. Honest.
SOrry, I'm a total nerd with this stuff.

Anyone fancy learning how to spend a week's pay in under 5 minutes??
Plus 2 new petticoats.
AND... because I don't quite have the same bust to waist to hip ratio as the stunning Doris Mayday (model in the first two pics), I bought a new corset and some new knickers and stockings. But they might be a bit too risque to post here

That is too cute for words. If I were near you I might try to steal it. Who was the seller?
I've been 'shopping' online for the past two hours now and am close to making a decision. Shall post my wares once decided

Or what pants he wears...
Or DOESN'T wear... I'll get my coat...
-
And no matter what language he speaks.
Or what shoes he wears...
-
I think he's lovely, no matter where he spends his time.

Really? What do you like about this area?
Must admit, I do like the gelato that they make in Molong... and even better, the factory is not very far from work!
I really do feel for those in the flooded places. I saw the news stuff on Cooma and I was a little glad that Orange doesn't have a river running through it (unlike Bathurst, which was cut in half). Apparently Forbes will probably end up being cut in three by Thursday, and it'll be bigger than the flood in 1990 (which I kinda sorta remember ).
Yeah, I wanted something that won't look (too) dated. That and it seems like almost everyone has strapless dresses, so I want to go with something a little different.
I used to work in the wine industry and one of our clients was Ross Hill. So I spent a very good many weekends in Orange and just fell in love with it! It's my favourite wine region in NSW. It's just such a cute, friendly, fun, tasty town I had a brief fling with one of the vineyard hands at Ross Hill too, so perhaps it's a bit sentimental
Really close family friends are winemakers down in Yenda (Griffith) and have just been evacuated The floods have destroyed their crops. Thank God they did vintage a couple of weeks ago, otherwise they'd have no product this year. That being said, their vines are screwed for next year. I feel for them. They've had it so rough, purely from the environment, over the past few years.
And good move with the wedding dress. I find strapless dresses all just start to look the same!

I didn't realise you were Orange/Molong way Tegan - that's one of my favourite parts of NSW (truth!). Glad you managed to avoid most of the water hell. Some friends of mine in Cooma were left in pretty grim circumstances.
Oh and lace wedding dresses = stunning!
-
You are moving so quickly on it! Well done you! By all accounts weddings are a nightmare to organise - it's great you've got so much done already.
-
Wow Tegan! Congratulations! What a story ha. That's so sweet that he asked your parents.
A guy asked me to marry him a couple of years ago.. unfortunately it didn't work out and he kept drunk dialling me saying 'is it coz I didn't ask your Dad *crycrycry*' Woops.
-
OH EM GEE! Congratulations!!!
Tell the story! Tell!

Work still sh!t?
Unfortunately, yes. Absolutely rubbish. I'm so fed up with it all. I interviewed at the ABC last week and was feeling really positive about moving over there, for a role I would have been perfect for, but the person who's leaving has decided to stay. Got my hopes up for nothing and have been in a mood about it ever since. Rah!
I came home yesterday to a letter from my employer outlining new terms and conditions - longer working week, 1 day less holiday, no pay for first three days off sick - and the choice is accept the conditions or be dismissed
Is that even legal? Do you have like an Industrial Relations Commission or something in your country? Seriously, that can't be legal. I mean ok, the longer working week and the 1 day less holiday must be relative to what you already have, but the no pay for first 3 days of sick leave sounds incredibly illegal! If you have any lawyer friends/anyone in HR/employment get them to have a look over it.
That's absurd.

I've just had a really crap couple of weeks. I've been lurking. Just quiet.
Blaaah.

I could take a bath in those dimples.
Well, I couldn't. But I'd try.
