  1. A lot has made me laugh today, but what made me laugh the most was my Dad saying that he used to look like Rajko from Last Man Standing, aka, this guy:

Maybe in the face a bit sure, but L.O.L. He thinks coz he played rugby for uni he was a bodybuilder. Bless.

Even my Mother was rolling on the floor.

  2. I'm a Technology Support Officer in a Central School. Basically I look after all the laptops that the NSW Govt gave to the high school kids.

And when I'm bored I fix computer stuff that's broken that the Computer Co-Ordinators can't get to because they're busy teaching/being Deputy Principal/Hiding from the rest of the staff...

Oh cool! I feel a bit sorry for you because I have a 16 year old brother, and I know just how he treats his school laptop :sneaky2:

After looking at some of the dresses you's posted in the style thread, I am quite tempted to buy some of those dresses. I think I might even look okay in them :teehee: Hell, it's gotta look better than what I'm wearing at the moment: black trousers, a black top and gold chucks :naughty:

Do it! Do it! You will look more than OK, I'm certain of it. Bettie Page Clothing has some great dresses that aren't too hard on the wallet either.

And there's nuttin wrong with all black and gold chucks!! I just couldn't be arsed today (usually I dress/petticoat/hair it to work). Bolted home from the gym, showered, hair in a clip, jeans, shirt and red chucks. Not even any makeup. My colleagues can go bite the big one.

  3. :roftl:

I don't think anyone was threatening when they asked for it to be played, just that it would be nice to hear him on the radio again and that we thought it was a good song. They get requests like this all the time and play the songs of other artists, why not him? That's what baffles and frustrates me.

It's because behind the scenes of every radio station on this planet there are deals and contracts in place between stations and record companies. Be it exclusive rights to the first air play of every pop tart from X Factor's songs, to sponsorship of events/competitions for increased rotation.

All stations have very specific relationships with record labels, which often means that requests can fall on deaf ears.

  4. [media law nerd] And, as much as requesting songs is great and it can help promote emerging artists/new tracks, at the end of the day we are all at the whims of the commercial Music Director. They basically tell the public what they like. :boxed:

SOOOO... it means in France, someone high up liked Mika's stuff (and saw it's commercial appeal). Which is cool if you live in France. :thumb_yello: To my knowledge Elle Me Dit wasn't played here at all - not because it's not a good song, but it doesn't suit our market.

  5. Not meaning to burst any bubbles, but the majority of your commercial DJ's have nothing to do with the songs that are being played on the radio, regardless of the country. That's what Music Directors are for I'm afraid. And in a commercial setting, it comes down to who your sponsors are, and what connections they have to major labels.

And even in independent stations, where DJ's get to actually program their shows, it all comes down to 'rotation lists'. I used to volunteer at an indie radio here and worked in developing their rotation lists - so basically of all the new music we'd get, the Music Director would listen to, figure out what was the best (rotation A), what was great (B), what was good © etc etc. Then DJs were told that in any hour they'd have to play x amount from list A, x amount from B etc.

It rarely has anything to do with a DJs preference on radio I'm afraid.

  6. No please go ahead. :aah: So many people don't understand that "finished" and "released" do not mean the same thing at all.

Having said that I really do believe that Mika is gearing up to do SOMETHING in the next couple of months. The 4 or 5 months before TBWKTM was released were awesome. Secret gigs, an acoustic tour, dozens of interviews and tv/radio performances, promo all over the world, etc. So don't despair. :wink2:

There's gotta be a leading single before the albums out, perhaps even a couple. I'm sure there will be heaps of little treats dangled in front of. I will not despair :biggrin2:
