Regardless of the number of people there is no reason why a room full of adults cannot act like normal human beings in the presence of Mika. I worked for a record company when I was 17 years old and I had enough sense even at that age to not crowd around artists that are more popular and established than Mika.

I'm not going to comment on the whole wrist band situation, because I wasn't there and don't really know the truth of how they were handed out/who to etc.

All I can say is it's great that you are so mature (even at 17) to sit back in the presence of your idol. However, in reality, that is not ever going to be the case in a large group of people - particularly women with their male idol. I'm sorry, but it was never going to end happily for everyone, and that is real life.

Basically what they did was invite 70 women (excepting Freddie here!) who want to have sex with Mika into a small enclosed space with Mika in the middle.

*knocks on Mika's curly topped head*

    HELLLLOOO???!!!!

  2. I still feel like I've committed some evil crime by having my picture taken with Mika since I was part of that 3rd group.

*wanders off and lets her head hang down in shame*

I'd better do something useful today instead of hanging around here.

    Blue!!!

Don't feel guilty!!! You wanted your photo taken with Mika and you got it, be happy. There will be another time when it won't happen for you and it WILL happen for these other people. That's life!

    Be happy xxx

Mika also indicated as much when he said that he saw a lot of familiar faces

My beef with this whole situation is not that I did not speak to Mika. It is that it was a PARTY and everyone mobbed him like it was an autograph signing session in a back alley somewhere.

This was NOT a signing session, it was a party. Mika made this perfectly clear to everyone in the room. We were all gathered round him naturally because he was making a speech and a toast. When he was finished he asked everyone to go back to talking amongst themselves while he worked the room. In other words, stop crowding around him and act like you normally would at a party.

I've read through this the last couple of days and had many an opinion, but haven't posted until I read this. How naive is Mika (and his management) to think that inviting 150 fans to a 'party' was going to work out??? Did they honestly think that everyone would chill out in groups of friends while Mika worked round the room like a bride at her wedding???????? Obviously people were going to crowd him and hound him til he had to leave.

I'm not judging anyone who did that - because that's life, that's what you do when you are in a room with the object of your desire :naughty: :naughty: Not saying it's right, and it must have been painful for Mika, but he's the one who wanted it to happen....no point in being disappointed with the fans (although I guess we don't know if he actually was).

Reading this thread makes me glad that I'm just a 'regular fan' and not a hardcore MFC-er anymore. It's too tiring.

im just glad this year that my friends company is sorting out the shuttle buses for the retrofest this year as last year we thought we were gonna get stranded in ayr & one of us would have to give some stranger a bj for some over night shelter :roftl:

Is retrofest in ayrshire?? Oooh, I could stay at in-laws. Who else is playing?

  6. Nooo...Mike was the man for me. I cried when they had their coach crash and he ended up in a coma.....thank heavens there was no internet in my youth....it would have been a disaster!!

See, that's where the 5 year age gap shows between you and me! By the time he had the crash I didn't give a monkeys. Well, that's teenagers for you! I was then into other things, and it all passed me by!

  7. GITB, I wouldn't mind if my bank manager looked like that....he may well do, actually. I have no idea what he looks like:roftl:

Nooooo! My friend Sheona liked Mike and I liked Bobby. Imagine if the internet existed in those days, and there were Bucks Fizz forums!!!! We were in the fan club, but it was just mailings, signed photos and such.

Despite the many, many letters we wrote to the fan club secretary - Gay Purle. God, it seems like yesterday!!

  8. another quick one ! bucks fizz are playing at the retrofest in strathclyde country park this year :thumb_yello: & im going ! my friend from ticket scotland loves bucks fizz so he gonna try & wangle vip tags so hopefully ill get to gawk @ howard jones close up this year "woohoo"

    Tell me more!!!

I saw Howard Jones at the Apollo years ago. Most boring gig I've ever been to.

  9. Do they??? Yes, Jay Aston was missing, but her replacement (Shelly Preston?) was there, so it was almost the real thing!

Well...Bobby G fell out with Mike Nolan, not sure why, so he (Bobby) went and formed his own Bucks Fizz - then Mike and Cheryl got cross and went to the courts etc. However, the Bucks Fizz that does the cabaret circuit now is the one with Bobby G.

There is some other version with David Van Day - not sure if it's the same one as Bobby's - he could be the replacement Mike Nolan.

Don't know what Cheryl and Mike are doing now, but I know they are good friends. Sigh. I need a life. I shouldn't know these things.

  10. Their standard answer when you talk to them about the 80s and the fact that the 80s were so good: 'Yeah of course, we were born in the 80s' :naughty:

I love it. I love everything 80s and I love the fact that guys who were born in the 80s themselves like the 80s so much. :naughty:

I do feel freaked when people say they were born in the 80s (Calvin Harris et al). Am I really so old?? I feel the same as when I was 12!! (she says, supping on red wine...)
