  1. Great thread!

You don't happen to have the recipe for something called Chocolate silk pie, I have tasted it and it was so delicious!:punk:

Lots and lots of chocolate and a crust made from Digestive biscuits, I think?:bleh:

The girl who made it came from Alabama in the US.

I have a recipe for a Chocolate Silk Pie that my friend gave me. It is really rich, chocolately and silky. But I can't guarantee it is like the Alabama one. (They really know how to cook in the South) :thumb_yello:

The recipe has a graham cracker crust (you can use a cookie crust or a regular cooled pie crust too) and optional whipped cream topping. It makes me hungry just thinking about it.

    Here is the recipe:

    Chocolate Silk Pie

    Crust: Graham Cracker

Ingredients: 1 ½ cups graham crackers (around 15)

    6 Tablespoons of butter (melted)

Directions: Heat oven to 350 F

Break graham crackers into smaller pieces

    Place in reseal-able plastic bag

Roll with rolling pin to make crumbs

    Melt butter

Put crumbs into dish, add butter, work butter into crumbs with spoon

Put into pie pan, and press with flat-bottomed glass to compress and

Make even around bottom and sides

Bake crust in oven for 8-10 minutes

    Take out and cool

    Pie:

    Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened

1 ½ cup white, granulated sugar

    3 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

    3 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate

    4 large eggs

    2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

    Directions:

Melt chocolate (in a dish over hot water)

Cream butter with mixer until creamy

Add sugar to butter and beat (mix) until it is fluffy (3-5 minutes)

Add cocoa and mix for 1 minute more.

Add melted chocolate and mix until well blended

Add eggs one at a time, beating each one completely into the mixture

    Add vanilla and mix thoroughly

Put into pie crust, use a spatula to spread evenly, if needed

Refrigerate for one or more hours before serving

    Whipped Topping: (optional)

Ingredients: 1 cup heavy whipping cream

    ¼ cup confectionery’s powdered sugar

    1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Directions: Whip cream with mixer until it is light and fluffy

Add sugar and vanilla and mix thoroughly, but don’t over beat

Use large spoon or spatula to gently spread over pie (or serve as a separate

topping) Decorate with chocolate shavings, if desired.

  2. I can't see Mika doing the shows for it though he's not a very sporty person.

Sorry Rosie, but this made me

    L O L !!!!

    :roftl::roftl::roftl:

OH.... and here I thought he was in training for the 2012 Olympics and the new Olympic sport, called canyoning. Someone even said that he waxed his chest hair so he could slip into the water better and make more points (although, it is rather a defeated purpose when one wears a wet suit, huh?) :insane: I must have just fallen asleep and had a weird dream....:bleh: sorry

  3. Someone please explain how this works again - the criteria, the rules, what has worked in the past, what you'd recommend sending, what you wouldn't recommend...I'm considering this. Thanks.

Can someone post the details of this? I've never done it...

Or can you post the link to the thread that has the details?

    Please and thank you :biggrin2:

Hmmmm.....I can give you my two cents worth. If you decide you want to join you pm Petra with the details of what type of partner you are looking for. For example: someone from UK or Japan, or anyone outside the US etc etc. You can also specify youngling or oldling.....or you can find your own partner by pming someone you see on the list and asking them. If they agree to be your partner, you let Petra know.

Then, you talk to your partner to get some ideas of what they would like to receive, what they like (or you stalk them on MFC :naughty:). This part can be fun too as you get to know more about your new friend. You usually make mutual agreements on when you will send each other a parcel. Sometimes things get delayed but you are responsible for keeping in touch with your partner and making sure that they know what is up.

Then, you shop. You wrap or pack in a box. You might include a note or a letter, and you mail it off. (and wait to receive yours) :blush-anim-cl:

To me the fun part is doing the shopping for someone else and trying to think of fun, interesting things that your partner would like. Then, of course, one day receiving a box of goods from some foreign port is rather exciting too. I will have to say that I done it several times and I have really enjoyed it and I learned about other places and made some good friends.

Hope this helps, and I am sure others will be able to tell you more!

  4. DaMango!!! It is so nice to see a post from you! I think of you often....sorry I'm not good about corresponding!

Sorry to hear about your troubles, sounds like you are on top of things though.

And I have to say that I love your tote bags. They are awesome! Thank you for sharing the pics. I can just imagine you running around Bellevue/Seattle with Prince or Mika tucked around your arm. :naughty:

Take care and I send you my love..... :wub2:

(hey, I just got a pm from you....but I guess I will post this first)

  5. here are some reasons why he keeps wearing that hat.

    1. he is having more bad hair days than usual

    2. his hair curling assistant has been sacked

    3. its a bet

    4. to distract us from Adele

    5. to distract us from the twins

    6. to distract us from nagging about the new album

    7. Adele bought him it and he is wearing it to please her

    8. it was FREEEEE!! lol

    9. Martin super glued it to his head on the bus while he was asleep for a laugh

    10. it's a dress code of his new found religion

    11. He's becoming bald

    12. It makes him half an inch taller

    13. He looks more like Indiana Jones with one..

    14. He's gone big-headed and he's trying to hide it?

    15. There are flowers growing out of his head

    16. Uuuummmm ..... he is really Molly Meldrum in disguise ?

    17. It's his "thinking cap". Without it he has those intense staring into space moments.

    18. He thinks it makes him look like a cowboy

19- It makes morons like us write another 5 pages on this thread discussing it.

    20. He's hiding an even smaller hat underneath it

    21. He's hiding food underneath it

22- His haircurler can't be plugged into foreign plugs as he forgot the adapter at home

    23. It's a fashion accessory. He has a matching wallet with manly angles.

    24. He's keeping all his stuff there, not to carry that "man bag".

HaHa Just saw the comment on MS. :roftl:

    Nahce, very nahce. :naughty:

  6. Maybe I should share my own poetry with Mika. It's quite accessible. :naughty:

    The Big Bang

    Yesterday

    The vacuum cleaner

    exploded.

    Dust bunnies sent their shrieks

    Into my newly suctioned air

    And hung like swollen moth(ball)s

    In the swirling space.

    My little red dirt devil

    gone to

    Hell.

    It must be true.

    Nature abhors a vacuum.

    --Jack

It is very accessible...I really like it! :wub2: It is clever and cute, and has a good rhythm to it. It paints two relevant and clear pictures that are related...the big bang, and the exploding dust bunnies. And it makes me laugh at the end. Plus the end gives new meaning to the title. I'm not very good at discussing literature or poetry....but I know what I like and I think you are a very talented writer, Jack.

(And you should share it with Mika)

  7. They're obviously not paying attention :bleh:. Or they don't like poetry, or Mr.Men.....or sweaty arms :naughty:

And if I had known when I posted a comment that I would be for once the first, I would have tried to say something relevant, like the hundreds of "I'm the first to comment! Yay!" that I've read over the blogs.....like....10 times in the same blog :roftl::roftl:

The first and ONLY comment. Wouldn't that be wonderful if it stayed that way? :naughty:

  8. Hmmm.... I was just looking at the comments again and wondering who posted as Geisel and who posted as Theodore. Dr. Suess was his pen name and his real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel. Some very clever people we have on here, huh? I can't wait to see more of the comments tomorrow. Hopefully they will all be approved.

    Well, good-night everyone! :huglove:

  9. Just enjoying our fake blog spam.:naughty:

    :shocked:You're still here?!

    You need help.

    WHOOO HOOO!!!!:punk:

I just saw your comment on MS, Artsyfartsy....it really made me laugh.

I wasn't going to mention the twins, but as you already did it... :roftl:

Almost forgot! Congratulations on the beautiful twins Munchkin and Cupcake!

I’m sure they’ll love the lemon chiffon on their bedroom walls. Helps them to get a good night sleep! =)

So, you're not the only lonely loonie anymore! :lmfao:

I saw Sara's but I didn't see your comment yet....has it been approved? Have you noticed how the first hour or so comments usually get approved really quickly and then later on they are approved in groups at interval times or something? I don't know....just it seems a bit strange. I thought they were being approved automatically....but sometimes I wonder.

This was a fun day...although I did end up bringing some work home because for some reason I didn't get it all finished at work :bleh:

  10. you two!

    :bonk:

    go back to work!

or stay here and have fun

    At your service:

    :bash:

    :fish:

    :poke:

    Go back to work:huglove:

Thank you, thank you and thank you! What an arsenal of weapons you all have!!! I did get some work done finally, although now I am back for a bit.

"What are they talking about? I've never looked at Dr. Suess for inspiration...*clicking on link*"

    *three minutes later*

".....they know my taste so well!:mf_lustslow:"

    ha ha..... Mika :hypo:

  11. Lmao, just read your comment Lilmot :roftl: His face is gonna be like >>

I wish we could see his face when he's reading through the comments. I wonder how quickly he does read through them? I guess we might just find out.

    hmm right

    *pretends like she understood*

    anyway i posted it already:lol3:

I see it! It looks good, I love it! :bleh:

"Mika, those Truffula trees are awesome. Dr. Suess is such an inspiration! I have no doubt that One Fish, Two Fish, Brown Fish, Violet Sky Fish will be a smash success and will out-sell LICM."

    lilmot is that you?

    :lmao:

No, I can't take credit for that one, but I'm glad someone else mentioned the Truffula trees so I won't look quite so crazy myself....well, maybe just a bit :insane::roftl:

  12. We'll see. I mentioned that I like the title of his new album. :naughty: I hope he won't faint.

I had prepared my comment before, and silly enough, coincidentally the first bit even fits the actual vlog

Finally....I got to post mine! I am at work and was interrupted for the last twenty minutes by people expecting me to work!!! What were they thinking....I had important things to do. It is not as lovely as yours, v_s, but I still mention the Truffula Tree, dr. suess, and the name of the next album. I was going to mention the name Cupcake too, but I was interrupted one more time and just hit the "submit" button. Wow, those comments are coming fast and furious, huh? Too many that don't mention dr. suess....what is everyone else thinking? :naughty:
