  1. I realized, I already have a profile there, but I never managed to use it properly as they keep using an old avatar instead of the one I'm using now.. I have no idea how to update it with my new picture.

    Picture sub-text:

Mika, here performing on Sentrum Scene, tells the tale of troubled teen years wrapped in cartoon-pop on his new record.

    BOUNCE AROUND WITH MIKA

Mika sticks with the cartoon- pop, but his lyrics have double meanings..

Mika bounced in on the music scene with his "Life in cartoon motion" 2 years ago. Now he's back and has moved from childhood to adolescence. "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" is a trip through Mika's teen years, with his characteristic falsettos and a love of synth.

Mika has definitely moved a little bit away from "Life in Cartoon Motion" even if it doesn't seem that way the first time you hear it, but the question is how many will take the time to stop and listen to what he actually sings. It could appear to just be more of what we've already heard. Disguised as happy go lucky rythm-pop Mika chirps "I hate days like this". On the show tune song "Toy Boy" he sings a somewhat biting lyrics; "Your momma thought it had to be somethin' wrong, wouldn't let you sleep with boys too long". The song shows some Rufus Wainwright inspiration without ever really managing to reach up to that level.

"Touches You" is simply a tribute to George Michael, while the first track, "We Are Golden" reminds us of Belinda Carlisles "Heaven Is A Place On Earth". "Blame It On The Girls" is a nod towards the superhit "I Don't Feel Like Dancing". Our tip is that "Good Girl Gone" is a song that will stick to people's brains all autumn long.

Mika jumps around his pop-y univers in a way that makes your rythm-foot tap away, and sometimes seems more indifferent.

For those of us who actually have a relationship with 80's synthpop, "I See You" is just the kind of ballad you wish you had when the spotty boy of our dreams was standing in the corner and may have been available for a closer dance than you really dared hoping for. Besides, those fake caribian rythms, such as in "Blue Eyes" were so trendy.

Mika IS a bouncing ball, but he has a lot weighing on his heart. Through drum-machines and happy rythms, you can still see his message of vulnerability, about standing on the outside looking in, about the boy who knew too much.

  3. This is what I was thinking about from before :) Telling Muse to mime = bad idea.

    And

where they were forced to mime and Matt rebells in his own little way (this one is sound only unfortunately, but worth a listen, it's hilarious)
