  1. It was February or March 2007 when I heard Grace Kelly for the first time on the radio. And I loved it, like I never loved a song before. I was addicted to this song, but I didn't knew anything about Mika at this time.

Then I saw a report about him on TV, my mum said: "This Mika, he's such a sympathic young guy, isn't he?:teehee:"

I just was like:"Oh mum *rolleyes*"

If I only knew she was so damn right:roftl:

A few weeks later I heard Relax for the first time on the radio. And I just thought:"Woooow!!! This guy is ****in talented!"

I never liked two songs of the same artist before:roftl::roftl:

A few days later a friend of mine stayed the night at my home. I showed her Relax and Grace Kelly and she said that she also liked it.

That night we searched for Mika on the internet. And we found a stream with the London Koko concert. We saw it like 6 times, the whole night. We read his bio and fell in love with this guy.

Since this night Mika is an attitude of life for me and my friend.

  2. hmm, i looked again at the london times and saw that mika only came out at midnight, didn't feel like it was that late. :boxed: so maybe you'll have to hurry. :dunno: but maybe he's faster in hamburg, who knows...

don't know about train stations, i'm staying at a hostel nearby. :wink2: that hostel is next to the altona station though, so yeah, i guess that's not too far.

    Midnight?

I hope he looks sharp in Hamburg...

  3. Okay, okay, I'm home. As stated on twitter, I'm not allowed to mention anything about the movie until it's released, though I don't think anyone cares. :teehee:

Mika's song is the last one in the end credits. It starts off with the chorus that goes something like "We are young. We are strong. We're not looking for where we belong." and then there's a piano bit before the verse. The verses sound like a mixture between the little rap in "Rain" mixed with the pre-chorus of "Touches You". It has that same kind of whisper singing. He does a lot of interesting things with his voice in the song, which I really liked. I don't care for the synth that much...just sounds like some "everyday" song...not the Mika sound we know and love. But as mentioned on twitter as well, it's still stuck in my head and I will for sure buy it :wink2:

Reminds me of thy We Are Golden lyrics:blink:

Looking forward to hear the song.

  5. He's not been very chatty this tour, the others have been, but he doesn't seem to come out with them now, except for last night, where they must have all been going back together.

We were told he had a bad tummy last night, but it didn't stop him from doing his crazy man act.

In fact at the end of Lollipop, he came to the front and did an animal growl, mixed in with a chord slide on the guitar, it sounded awesome!!!

    Wanna hear:boing:

  6. We thought he had left before Mika started doing the acoustic gigs last year.. He was touring with Lily Allen!

I would've been so upset if he'd left before I'd gotten a chance to meet him... I almost bought tickets to the Lily Allen gig in Melbourne last year if he wasn't going to be with Mika...

    What gig was that?

He is incredibly talented, I couldn't imagine anyone replacing him... though if he moves to Sydney for a few years like he told us last year, we'll have to get used to the fact that he won't be there :tears:

    Yeah, I remember...

We stood in front of the church in Berlin, not expecting that Martin would come too.

But then the taxi arrived and Martin droped out:dance_man:

  7. Ha, weird English idioms.

One I like is "(to) hit the nail on the head." It means, to get something exactly right.

PERSON A: Wow, Freddiesdouble is so mega awesome!

PERSON B: Yup, you hit the nail on the head with that one!

    :roftl:

We have the same expression in Germany "hit the nail on the head" (den Nagel auf den Kopf treffen:naughty:)

It has the same meaning as in english.

BTW: this thread is perfect to practice my school english with some slang expressions and grammar:teehee:

  8. One thing I have to say:

I' so happy that Martin is still in the band, from the beginning till now.

A gig without "Martin on guitar!" wouldn't be the same. He has a lot of charism and fun on stage.

It's a pity that Luke is gone, well I have arranged with Dave...

  9. We wanted to buy our tickets on mikasounds.com but the presale is over again.

So we have to buy them on event.im (for example) but the tickets there cost 45€ whereas the ticktes on mikasounds.com where offered for ca. 30€...

Does anyone know something about this difference?

    @nanou:

Well, the location changed but the changing isn't printed on the tickets, but they are still valid I think.

  11. Some of my friends knew Owl City before they came on the radio.

    Now they think it's mainstream:rolls_eyes:

I like Owl City, Fireflies (I wrote Fire Files:naughty:) is a beautiful dreamy song.

At first I thought Owl City was a band:roftl:

    Pretty Monkey Studios

They also made the "Rain" and "Toy Boy" video:thumb_yello:
