  1. Grazie mille to our clever and kind Italiens friends LogLady, Elwendin and Lucrezia, for the translation of this special and wonderful interview!! Just when you think you know every detail about his past, he gives you more!! MIKA is such a wise and insightful man, and once again he makes me so proud to be a fan! :-) I assume he gives a lot of people something to think about - if they read this interview ...

    Love,love

    me

Very very well said mamiam. :thumb_yello:

And thank you so much for the Translation ladies. :huglove:

  2. Yes, exactly. And this is how it should be. Sometimes he does something I'm hoping for, sometimes the opposite. Sometimes something totally surprising (and I really like that!). I'm here just to watch.

I admit that now I'm more disappointed than earlier for selfish reasons. Another season means I need to wait even more to see him on stage (and to tell the truth, I can't even know if I will see him after Montreal). However, I just saw him on stage and he was good as ever. He was wonderful :wub2: I'm not worried about him, I can wait.

It also means that he is keeping distance to his fans. I love it when he shares news from studio or communicate other ways. I would love him to share also his television experiences. I would love him to talk to us. Not to apologize or explain, he doesn't need to. Just to share that he is excited because they made him a good offer. To tell why he likes television work and to talk about Italy/France. I would love to hear! But I already know it's not going to happen and I can understand why. If he tweets something about his job as a judge in English people only tell him they don't want to hear. Why would he bother?

I enjoy watching him too. I can't follow these television shows the same way locals can because I can't understand the language, but I enjoy watching him working. He is really good. I'm not surprised if will continue doing television also in the future. It doesn't matter if we like those shows or not but he is good on television, I wish people gave him more credit for it.

However, for the first time ever I don't really care the usual fan drama or what people are saying about his decisions. It used to give me such a heavy feeling. It's never enough for people to tell their opinions, they are arguing, complaining or just generally laughing to someone else's thoughts. I finally learned to shut it all out. I can't even tell how it happened. I just don't care. I'm just feeling totally zen about everything and I love it! Mika seems to be well and happy with his work and that's enough for me.

You are so right, over all with your last sentences.

    :thumb_yello:

  3. Ok here we go, I'll update everything here. If I disturb the discussion I'm sorry ! :blush-anim-cl:

I love the the plans of the venue. Thank you for working this out.

On the third night Littlelady and me (and my hubby) have A 1, A2, A3

And on the first night I'm also in, I'll sit with Littlelady. :fisch:

  4. Apart from his physical appearance and young age, let's not forget that Kendji is also part of the Gypsy community.. They are following him closely and I think voting massively too. I think it's highly possible he will win in the end...

Yes, I also think it's highly possible that Kendrji could win.

Not because of hormones. Who is watching shows like these? Which age, which gender, which education? The most of us decides because of the song, of the voice and of symphaty who is fav or not. For example I don't like tunnels, the ones with I don't like that much. And I always loved Gypsy, so I love Kendrji when he sings Gypsy. :teehee:

The question is who has the biggest fan community and who can activate them.

  5. I was at the Voice yesterday (with my children and my son's best friend). We were on the coaches' sides, next to Florent Pagny.

We won 4 tickets and headed to Paris to be there around 5pm.We didn't know there would be a very big queue (we were told we were 1200) and we finally reached the pit around 7.45 pm.

As we were in the middle of the queue, we found that spot on the side, near the candidates' exit and the coaches. From where I was, I could see Meggie, Leila and Sephira.

It turned out to be quite a good spot ;) My children and their friend were very happy to shake hands with the coaches and most of the candidates. :thumb_yello:

Standing on my feet for 7 hours was a bit too much for me and I wouldn't do it soon but it was a nice experience and the first time I was among the audience of a tv program.

I was surprised to discover it was not easy to hear what the coaches said because their microphones were not very efficient (we could hear Nikos better). I was also surprised that the stage & the pit were so small. They look so big on my screen!

The coaches and tv presenters were several times looked after by make-up artists and hairdressers and that was funny.

We could feel the candidates's stress and feelings (joy, disappointment or sadness. Poor Charlie). The coaches talk a lot together between the candidates' performances (during the adverts or Nikos' reminders to phone to select our favourite candidate of each team) and they seem to tell each other what they think.

Some of our favourites are gone. When we went out, after the show, my son shook hands with Lioan and Eliott. That was sweet of them.

Thank you so much for sharing your expirience with us. Sounds fab. :huglove:

Thank you also for the vid from Kiss. I really enjoy it. :thumb_yello:

BTW: not really important but however. I found this grey suit yesterday elegant but a little bit boring. I prefered the phoenix suit from last week. :teehee:

  6. 8. Very wise words.

Added to what you've said, which I agree with, I'll say my piece.

When his hits stopped coming and his record company stopped a lot of support, Mika could have continued to do concerts for his diehard fans. Yes, we would have gone to them, but no new fans would have. But Mika would have been the musician he was in 2007, except that, outside of the loyal fandom, no one would know him. No new opportunities would emerge for him, except, maybe, the kind of reality show that's not about music.

Maybe some fans would have preferred that scenario. I would not have. If that had happened, I still would go to see him, and sit there thinking, "what a waste of such an incredible person."

The attitude of people who disagree with the choices he's made, seems to stem from the belief that the talent shows are inferior, that he's lowered his standards by doing them. But they are about music. They give people a chance of fame, that they might not get otherwise.

Susan Boyle, Paul Potts, even Rylan Clarke (who's become my favourite presenter on UK TV) Reality talent shows gave them the chance they needed, and more people besides. In the past, Opportunity Knocks and New Faces, filled many a variety Bill with talent discovered on those shows.

Mika is good on these types of shows, ironically because, he is a musician. No one would listen to someone whom, they knew, hadn't a clue about making music.

Mika is gaining kudos with what he's doing, and he is still recording and planning appearances. I'd sooner he was doing less concerts, in huge sold out venues, than more, in tiny places. More people are getting to know Mika, as a whole personality, by these shows. So in my book, he's doing okay.

I'm so with you. I like Mika a lot to watch at XF, much more as the imagination that he could give up and would be only in privat person. It's silly to imply I would prefer him as a celebrate. What I'm doing, I accept his choices, look for the benefits for me - which I have if I can watch him at XF - and wait patiently for his new album and for his next tour. I'm sure both will come, not as fast as I wish but it will come. :thumb_yello:

I foundet the time before his second album so much harder, in this time there where much less Mika around like now. :wink2:

  9. Yes, this point is repeated over and over again - ONLY France and Italy. I get the feeling that these two countries count less than others, while the opposite is the fact. They're both big and important countries to MIKA. Wasn't it in France both his DVSs "Live at L'Olympia" and "Live at Parc de Prince" were shot? Wasn't it in France that the Ministre of Culture honoured him with a knight medal? Wasn't it in Paris that the Grevin Museum in Paris found a place for MIKA in wax - everything very early in his carriere? What kind of similar honour did London and England show him?! Not much, I'm afraid. When he dared to add a couple of his French songs in his songlist during the last tour, the British press almost made a fool of him. They have also been quite uninterested in him the last few years, because he has been boring - and didn't produce scandals!? :sneaky2: Both France and Italy have welcomed him warmly, and taken good care of him - no wonder he bought his own appartment in Milan lately! :blush-anim-cl: As "Cathouzouf" wrote here not long ago: "You can't forcefeed a country to like you" - Exactly, that's how it is...

I don't think it's totally right that outside France, Italy and Belgium "he has not been seen since the time of the last alb. release" And he couldn't walk most other places without being noticed either. If he walked the streets of Madrid or Barcelona, I think he'd be recognized, because of his hit last year: "Live your life" - then big posters of him were on the streets. And what about MIKA 4 Swatch?! It's a worldknown trademark - where he was honoured to design a watch for their 30th anniversary - a happening which even gave you the opportunity to a short meeting with him, and this beautiful pic you have on your profile :thumb_yello: If he took a walk in the streets of Monte Carlo these days, I suppose some citizens there would know that he's the artist that their Prince Albert invited to entertain 800 guests at the Roseball this year :blush-anim-cl:

MIKA has been working sooo hard since TOOL :wub2: He has told about his plan to take care of his own carriere, and I don't need a master degree in economy to understand that, without any support, this will require a LOT of money from him. I'm very proud of him as a hardworking artist! :thumb_yello: And in between all these projects, he keep on writing songs, and keep us updated how the work goes, with the new album in LA. What more can we expect from him?! For me, there's a difference between liking/loving and accepting/respecting his projects. But imo, we all owe him to be fair, and to show some respect! That's what he really deserves! :blush-anim-cl:

    ...

    Happy Eastern everybody! :huglove:

    Love,love

    me

I'm so agree with you! Thank you for your words. :huglove:

  10. Rose, I totally understand you point and these are the sites I don't like about him doing these shows.

On the other hand there are other sites why I'm okay with him doing it. Marta has written them very nicely in the Italian thread. I hope it's okay if I quote something Italian in the international section now.

And in the end it was his free decision to do these shows, nobody forced him to do so. When he put everything together he decided he wants to do it. And respecting his decision for me is above everything, what he wants to do is more important for me than what I want him to do. And he seems to like doing it, I don't get the impression he does something he don't want to do while watching him there.

Mika goes his path in life and I go my path in life. And if our paths have a lot of points of contact, than it's great. And his music, his concerts and how he is as a person have points of contact so strong, nobody else does even come near to it (aside from a band some years ago). And yes, even doing these shows has some points of contact for me, I like his reactions and opinions he gives there and how he works with the contestants, and I'm glad to see he remains Mika there (before everything started I was very worried about that). (And on a personal level which concerns only me are also some positive points of XF which have nothing to do with Mika himself, like discovering the Italian language and one of the contestants, Michele). Although the strongest points of contact are of course his songs and him singing life. But as long as I see I will get that as well, even if I have to wait for it, and I see him working on his album for example and I know it will be there one day, I don't think our paths will divide too much. Putting everything together, the positive sites I get from him are still much much much more than the sites I don't like and even the judge work is a grey thing for me, not a black one. There are much worse things he could have decided to do. And even if our paths would separate one day I would be okay with it, I would never want him to go a path which I would like more if it's not the path he decided to be the one he wants to go.

Furthermore, even if he wouldn't have done these shows it's not said we really would have gotten an earlier album or a tour around the world. Or him getting more popular again. If you compare to the full glass you also have to compare with the empty glass. We know that he had problems before he made his decision in Nepal. Who knows where he would have been without these shows... And I thinks it's better seeing him being able to do what he wants to do because of France and Italy than not having anything at all. Yes, maybe he should have started from the scratch again. Maybe that would have worked out. But we don't know it. Could have, could have not. And he did choose to take this way.

I really hope my thoughts came across the right way. As these points have been misunderstood sometimes in earlier discussions I clearly write it out here: I don't want to imply that anybody who is personally disappointed doesn't respect his decision or don't want to see him happy or that anybody should stop being fan because he doesn't like his decision. And this is of course only how I feel about it, doesn't mean I think others should feel like it.

    I'm totaly with you! :thumb_yello:

I'm selfish enough to say I also would prefer gigs or Festivals but I'm far away to no respekt his decisions what he is doing for his carreer. Everybody can have his opinion about it, but it's his carreer and his decisions.

  11. Aaaaaaand . . . . voting is closed! Looks like the Swift fans tried to make a comeback, but it was too little too late. :naughty: I don't know if people will keep tweeting, and those topsy things will keep updating, but as of this moment, one says 115,890 to 101,391 and the other one says 238,772 to 153,794. :winner_first_h4h:

Of course, we don't know what the voting was like on the website. I know I voted like an insane person these last few days. I have to admit, it's been fun, but when the website froze and it said voting was over, I was a bit relieved. :aah: AND NOW I REST.

Yes, same here. A BIG REST FROM TWITTER! Only with all my accounts I made around 40.000 the last month. I hope next voting for Mika on twitter is not coming the next time. :mf_rosetinted:

But on the other side it's really been fun to do that around the strong group of Mika fans (I don't forget the Ariana fans, they where great too). :thumb_yello:

  12. I voted like mad during the last days and even forced hubby to do it so we got 3600 to 3900 votes per day on twitter. I swear when it´s over I won´t open twitter for a few days!!!!

    LOL! Same here. :naughty:

BTW: For me it Looks like on the music.disney Website you have to vote for all categoeries, but you can vote on twitter "only" for Mika, tweet or retweet.

What you need on twitter (written at the rules on the Website):

    #Mika #MusicalMashup @radiodisney.

At the time it's possible that we can win on twitter, but when you see how much follower Taylor Swift has and how much Mika you know how tiny is he ice. Yesterday the Swifties votet at @radiodisney about 1.100.000 times for Taylor Swift - and we Mika and ArianaGrandes fans are about 180.000 votes today. Without the activitiy from ArianaGrandes fans we had no Chance.

Fact is nobody knows if Mika is interesting in this award, I only know that one time he was there live. :mf_rosetinted:

  13. I have no idea if it's right, but just saw this on Twitter. What do you think about?

    Taylor Swift Updates ‏@TSwiftPromotion · 15 Std.

    1) Taylor: 3,875

    2) MIKA: 4,615

    3) Zedd: 952

    #TaylorSwift "Everything Has Changed" #MusicalMashup @radiodisney

However, I'm still voting - all categories. :wink2:

  14. Yes , I also think Mika's path has changed in the last 7 years. He is no longer the young man who is writing for the 2nd album, hidden and anxiously after of the overwhelming success from 2007. I think his 2nd album is great but not simple enough. :fisch: And his also 3th album is wonderful and simple enough for the big audience but for some reason his record company thinks Mika's music has to run by itself - and it doesn't. :wink2:

After this disillusioning experience Mika decides to no longer wait for his record company - including before the publication of the 4th album he have to do for himself that they are also purchased. Unfortunately he hadn't the chance in UK (I'm sure he would prefer), but in Italy with X-Factor and France with Voice - and he was taken this chance. Of course , new ways are always a risk – and it could go wrong. But in Italy it went well, very well for him! Of course , Italy is not the UK, but wastet time? No! There are plenty of artists who can live very well with their sales in the romance-speaking area , although we in Germany, UK , America and Asia don't like that fact. Even I still hope that the attention he has now in Italy and France, the people in the UK noticed .

Mika will bring out his 4th album , whether this year or next year , that doesn't changes the sales figures neither in the UK nor in the U.S. . We fans should be patient and trust Mika's decisions. Of course , not every one of his decisions must be right , but who can say what is right and what is wrong in the life.

  15. Thank you so much :blush-anim-cl:

I think it's not our prerogative to "want him to" do something. I just don't think he could make some amazing music out of fans/label/money/whatever pressure.

I do enjoy writing, some friends of mine always tell me to write a book (in italian I'm a bit better than here, I swear :mf_rosetinted:) but I don't do it, 'cause I just write some decent words out of emotions, I can't sit at my laptop and just write for the hell of it.

I think so does he. No inspiration, no music, that's it. And there will be no complains of ours which could change this, cause it's not up to his mind, it's up to his heart.

So, meanwhile he's looking for inspiration, in my opinion he better works something useful out, like side projects, tv shows, whatever he feels or needs or has to do. The article author is right, it is smart of him releasing a song book while judging on XF, so why should he just hang out in London, during these no music months?

Writing songs, writing books, painting, whatever, doesn't get stopped by daily choices and errands, if it's out of passion and emotions. When the emotions come, there you go with your inspired work and you let go whatever else. Yesterday (was it yesterday?) I let go everything just to write my report. For 4 hours I wrote non stop, my house was a mess, the pets wanted my attention, my husband did the chores and cooked (he knows I would have skip the dinner ) to let me write. Just because I needed to do it. It's a drive you can't fight.

I'm sure he will write his music when he will feel this drive, not before.

And I'm positive emotions don't come out of the blue, but origin in meeting people, experiencing adventures, facing challenges, as he's doing right now. So I trust that what he is going through, this is not totally useles.

I just wait for him being inspired to do good music. If I want to listen to average songs, well, there are plenty around.

Yes! Exactly my thoughts. Thank you for pointing out! :thumb_yello:

  16. The problem is that it's not a discussion. People are just reiterating the same opinions and it's getting boring. Saying the same thing 96 times doesn't make it any more valid than it was the first time.

I understand how you and others feel, and I can understand people who look at the situation differently. This is not a situation that comes down to right or wrong.

We have no influence over what Mika does - we may like it or we may not - and when the next album arrives, again, we may like it or we may not. Some people will carry on being fans and some will part company.

So let's just wait and see, and try not to kill each other in the meantime.

Thank you Silver for saying this. You are so right! I indeed with every word.:mf_rosetinted:

  17. Even if Italy is a small market, I think his current success (ie sales of songbook) is something that can be used to point to promoters that there are still a need for his music and that it can happen in other countries with proper promotion.

Yes, I think Mika hopes this also. Fact is I have no idea about music markets but I have confidence in Mika that he knows very well what he is doing. :naughty:

But who makes the music market? I had always the idea that it has to do with the population of a country. I think I'm wrong with this, because Netherlands has about 17 Millions of population, Italy has 69 Million, a little bit more as Great Britian.
