Same! Just realised I still need travel/medical insurance, will have to look at that today. Amongst other things - still no idea what I'm wearing. :hair:

That does sound cool, and I'd love to see the pyramid all lit up, but are they still doing late evenings? Their website says open to 6pm every day, closed Tuesdays. I've emailed them to check specifically for the 22nd, will let you know when they reply. That put my rusty French to the test! :naughty:

Oh shoot I see now! Fingers crossed then 🤞 My sister looked it up the other day, no clue where she saw this then..

  2. Was also looking at public transport. Since Paris’ metro system is super handy dandy and super easy, I’ll be getting a Metro card for the weekend. Noticed that M5 (Gare du Nord - Porte de Pantin) is the way to go to and from Philharmonie. The metro ride is only 7 minutes, then a 7 min walk 😊 Will have to check the areas to see what ticket will cover that, but a solo ride is only 1,90€, so shouldn’t be too much for a few day tickets.

edit; I do have this vague memory of those machines only taking cash, so bring change lol.

From the moment the concerts were announced we were (and of course still are) worried, because of the pandemic.

Just imagine us sitting there without face masks? I know I will have a huge smile on my face! And everyone will be able to see it! :biggrin2:

Oh man I hope we won’t have to. I haven’t had to wear a mask since summer (except for in the train) and boy do I not miss that. Besides, they’ve fallen apart at this point because the elastics are breaking apart from all the boiling I’ve done 😂 I did get new fabric ones for the train tho.

THAT IS SUCH A COOL JACKET!!! You have to wear it for one of the gigs at least!!! Did you make it?!

and i've finally decided on what i'm wearing! A deep red fitted dress for one night and a black off the shoulder dress for the other! The only issue now is I don't know what coats, bags and jewellery to wear with them....:lmfao: the search is never-ending!

Thank you! We bought the jacket, and my mother did most of the beading/adding the sequins ☺️

It’s gonna be so cool, seeing everyone in their pretty clothes 😄 Fancy fans 👌

Dusseldorf 2010. :teehee: Was that the first time you wore the jacket?

I do have sequins that look like this (that in fact I bought somewhen in 2009/2010), but as they're not really clear in my photo, I'm not sure it's the same ones. And dunno if you want to start sewing in Paris if I bring them...

Omg that was the first time I wore it indeed! That was the night Mika signed it too. Also shout out to my red skinny jeans there :naughty: Almost bought some red smart trousers today in that exact colour as a throwback lol. But yeah, maybe they match, who knows! I just need 6 of them :biggrin2:

Yeah I really need to get going and order something. I haven't been shopping for ages either, at least not for myself - with my kids I never have the patience for trying on things. So I suppose I'll just order something online. I have a Zalando voucher that I got for my bday in April... when I looked there a few months ago, I didn't really find anything that I liked, but maybe I should look again now that they have the winter stuff. Anyway I should do that soon, so I still have time to choose, order a different size if necessary, or something else... :aah:

I think for one night I'll wear the black dress and blue glitter top that I already have (I've been wearing the dress for one of the Montreal symphonic gigs as well), but I agree with you that it'd be nice to have different outfits for both nights.

I did go home with a pair of nice black trousers and a mustard yellow turtleneck top lol. But I'm now looking online on Monki, Asos and Zara for a nice glittery shirt to pair with the trousers, and hopefully also match it with my burgundy docs so I can be comfy lol.

Another goal of mine today was to find matching sequins for my jacket, as some have fallen off over time (I mean, I've had this jacket since 2010 lol), but it seems to be impossible to find a perfect match. Went to 6 stores

  7. so.. anyone else struggling to find a fun fancy outfit or is it just me? I haven't bought anything fancy in 2 years cuz of rona, and only gotten myself comfy clothing (aka a bunch of mom jeans and my favourite, a shacket) :aah: Went out to the shops today, and felt too old for what was hanging there (super cropped tops, skirts short as hell), plus teens everywhere around me. I guess I remembered why I hate shopping outside of my house lolol.

Anyways, there's the classic Mika jacket that I always wear, and will again cuz it's just amazing. But I'll be going to both gigs, so I thought it'd be fun to wear something fun and fancy one of the nights but I'm stuck hahaha

Plus there's the fact that I refuse to wear heels :naughty:

    9/20/21 ZOOM RECAP

For those of you who weren't on the MFC Zoom call yesterday, I thought I would just sum up for you what was discussed. (Those of you who were on the call, please let me know if I've forgotten something or gotten it wrong.)

    * The MFC Tour Boat is set for Sunday, 24 October 2021. Departure time will be 3 p.m. so if you are attending you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes before that. We will be sailing with Vedettes de Paris and departing from the quay located near the foot of the Eiffel Tower. The boat ride will be 1 hour long, and there will be food available for purchase on the quay or on the boat. The boat company should be able to arrange for us to pre-purchase food that will then be brought on the boat to save us time waiting in queue. Details for this are being worked out and will be announced soon.

    * A Saturday fan gathering was discussed at length. Some fans have been in touch with a cafe located near the venue, and also the Hotel Mercure, where many fans are staying, to determine whether they have a space where we could hold either a breakfast or lunch. Realizing that many may not want to incur additional expenses, alternatives were discussed, such as finding an open park where we could gather, bringing our own food/drink. This idea depends on good weather, so a "Plan B" (bad weather) option is also necessary.

    * Pre-concert drinks somewhere before the Saturday night concert -- near or at the venue?

    * A method for staying in touch during the weekend was also discussed. Options include:

    -- posting on mikafanclub.com

    -- creating a WhatsApp group

-- creating a private group on Instagram

    -- creating a special/private Instagram account

-- creating a special Twitter account

I haven't yet decided what the best option is -- maybe we'll need a combination of these, so that no one is left out.

    * Other items:

-- It would be nice to have a way to identify each other, as not everyone will have an MFC badge -- name tags/stickers.

-- Decorations for the boat? Not sure whether we will be able to do much, as we are only sailing for 1 hour.

We did not get around to discussing flowers/gift for Mika yet, but we should! I will start another thread for that.

This is what I think my tentative schedule for the weekend will be here -- obviously it is subject to change. If you all have ideas for how I might fill it in, please let me know!

These all sound like lovely plans to me! I'd love to join it all, as I'll be on my own (gonna be so different without my mother @Jojotje). Last time in Paris was a few years ago (before the Notre Dame burnt down, but I didn't go in that day STUPIDDDDD, but I did go in 2013..) But anyways, I'd love to join in on the fun :) I'm quite flexible, as I just want to have a fantastic weekend with folks I haven't seen in years!

Am I correct in understanding that most are staying at Hotel Mercure Paris 19 Philharmonie La Villette? I'll be arriving in Paris around 2:30pm.

  9. Do you think the expensive seats are still there? Or are those maybe gonna be avaiable through mfc presale? I’ve been out of the loop because I was busy with my birthday, so now I’m stressed as I really do not want to miss this. My mother won’t be able to come along so I’m also looking for some MFC friends to hang out/share a room with ❤️
