  1. Hola holita Mikafans.

  2.

Is the namesake on the song "Emily" an alter ego of yours?

It actually kind of is. I have various pen names, because I write for other people and sometimes it's easier when no one knows who's written or co-written the song. So I have this little fleet of girls' first names that I write under. One of them got discovered and it's out, but I've got a few others that are still nice and safe.

This is soooooooooooooooo weird, not about changing his name as a songwriter, but do it that much, and, women names??!! :naughty:

    Mika

  3. Mika, the lebanese/british singer has come to Madrid to promote his new album "TOOL", and he feels pleased to answer to one of our questions. Know that the Fab Four opened a door from where he himself slipped in through. So, after getting surprised by the fact that it´s already 50 years since "Love Me Do" was released, he explains step by step the reasons of his choices.

1.Blackbird. This is the deffinitive song about freedom. It talks about racism, in an abstract way so that it gets even more power. It talks about freedom but not in a politic-ish way.

2.Taxman. I like it cause it has that brutal realism from the North England, that sense of humour. The Beatles were the best creating fantasies based on real life. I love that wink that seems to say: "do you trust the taxman or you rather scape when he arrives?"

3.I am the Walrus. This one also has a part of the sense of humour in Taxman. I adore it. It´s in my list for sure.

4.She Loves You. But its german version. It´s so bizarre... I love it.

5.Yellow Submarine. I know people doesn´t give a damn about Ringo, but the way he sings this song is awesome. The sound is wonderful and it´s so idiosyncratic....

By the way he showed his aversion for "Ticket To Ride".

I love Blackbird :fangurl: and Taxman coz George Harrison :wub2: wrote it, but I expected "Here comes the sun" as one of his favourites because he sings a bit on "Instant Martyr"

  5. Hi!! Mikasister found this for those who can read spanish

    http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2012/10/02/cultura/1349192983.html

"Con sólo 23 años, Mika se convirtió en una estrella. 'Life in cartoon motion' fue todo un pelotazo en 2007, gracias a canciones de pop redondas, euforizantes, llenas de azúcar y estribillos alegres. Aquel chico tímido, pero ambicioso, se embarcó entonces en una vorágine de conciertos por todo el mundo. Estuvo cuatro años sin parar, en los que aprovechó para publicar 'The boy who knew too much' (2009).

It has also a video, I will try to translate this part, and if you want me to do the video too I will try later, but later-later, coz I can't now :aah: , OK?

    ENJOY!!

“ With only 23 years old, Mika became a star. LICM was a big success, in 2007, thanks to great, euphoric songs full of sugar and happy refrains. That shy guy, but ambitious, started a hurly-burly(??) world tour. He didn’t stop for 4 years, in which he published TBWKTM (2009).

The Lebanese born, with his official residence in London, was MIA for a while, beyond some sporadic performances (the last one in Spain in the Low Cost Festival last summer), since august, when he announce in an interview that he was gay.

Now publishes his third album, TOOL, a work in which he confesses to have taken a leap forward in his sound. “There was a time when I had to decide if I had to take risks or remain a caricature of myself. I wanted to develop my sound, I wanted to grow”. That’s how he made an alliance with the rapper Pharell Williams, with the Australian electronic band Empire of the Sun and with the producers Nick Littlemore, frYars and Benny Benassi.

We can see by his lyrics that he has grow up. “For the first time I started to speak about myself and I stopped hidden behind imaginary characters and cartoons”. The album’s songs can be listened as the artist private diary, where he exposes his new relationship”.

  6. I don't know if somebody already noticed, but last weekend I bought the international deluxe edition of TOOL.

When you take the first CD out (the left in one in the box), you see a little drawing, but it also says: "put this CD in your pc and go to http://www.mikasounds.com/bonus/ for exclusive content".

Unfortunately I can't open the website.

Weird enough, I also bought the French deluxe edition last week and it looks like the text isn't in that one.

Weird, the page doesn't exist :dunno:

    Same here :dunno:

I've been thinking, maybe we'll have to wait for the bonus page 'till 8 October? I don't know, but the website isn't that big and there is a lot that isn't on there, so maybe when the new album is released in the UK there will be a completely new website which is bigger and will have the page for the bonus-content?

I thoght about that too :wink2:

    We'll wait then.... :thumb_yello:

  7. SORRYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Finaly, it's very difficult, maybe there's some mistakes, I did my best...

    Meetings

After selling more than 8 million records in 32 countries with his other two albums, LICM (2007) and TBWKTM (2009), TOOL is his new LP. As we could see on his first single, “Celebrate”, Mika comes back plethoric, wanting everyone to dance with him.

    1. What do you like most, writing song, recording or singing live? Where haven’t you sang yet and what would you like to sing? (don’t know if it makes sense XD)

Those are different thing. Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. I’m not really sure who’s who yet. I would like to play at the London Royal Opera, at the Natural History Museum in London or in El Prado Museum ( a Madrid one)

    2. Congratulations for your new album, TOOL, the other two LICM and TBWKTM were more childish, IMO. Making this new record, made you grown up more as an musician or as a person? Maribel 15 years old, El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz

The two of them. Because I am the same person as an artist that I am as a persona (???) I agree with you , is less childish, but it’s still full of fantasy.

    3. Which are the best memories you have from your Spanish fans? In concerts, M&G, etc – Lady Meeks

My Spanish fans travel from very far away to see me play live. I try to greet them before the gig. They are always waiting to see me. I can’t explain how much it means to me. ( <3 )

    4. Can you give us sneak peek of how will TOOL tour be? Will you do something as in the Imaginarium tour where you took some of your fans to dance on stage? It was great!! – Becks

The show will be completely different. Everytime I do a Tour I like to start concentrate on music, to slowly develop fresh ideas for the stage. This prevents me to not repeat the effects. My objective is to make this show as rich and stagy as the others, but I have to start from the beginning and build it.

    5. After 5 years on your career, 2 successful albums, and a third on the way to success, what do you feel more proud of? - Queenie

I don’t use to feel proud. And if I do it lasts just hafl-an-hour. Pride (I thing he means feel proud of) is like a cheap beer. It’s incredibly addictive and destructive.

    6. Hi Mika!! Besides music, which are your hobbies? How do you spend our spare time? Nice to talk to you – Eva

Who cares??!! Do you really wanna know that I like to walk my dog, cook yunk food??!! (or a rubbish food, don’t know if he speaks of how bad he cooks XD)

    7. I love how you’re trained ( like educated, that he knows a lot about) in all senses, specially musically. How did your parents do to keep you motivated in music? I had run off my resources with my children, that, otherwise, they like to dance like crazy with your songs ( I HATE THIS QUESTION XD IT’S TOO COMPLICATED, sorry if there’s any on you who made it, but OMG LOL)

I had no option because I was expelled from school. I had a very hard Russian teacher who taught me to sing while I wasn’t at school, for 10 months. I got jobs very quickly. My family didn’t had much money and I realized that I could live doing something that made me feel I worth something.

    8. Hi, we know this three albums from your discography but, do you have any other song or record previous to those?

Yes, I do have others songs I wrote before, but they didn’t become completed to make sense, thing that I need to make an album. I made a burial for those songs, we prayed, got drunk at the after bural party and go on with our lives.

    9. Hi, welcome to Spain again. I know you can speak a lot of languages, when a single in Spanish? Good luck with your new album.

If I found the right person to write It, there’s a chance. I’ll never say never. Find the right song writer is like finding a partner, but not only for one night (naughty)

    10. Amazing the choirs in the first song TOOL, it was your idea or the producer? JR

My own creation. In fact they told me it was crazy. It took me a year and a half to finish it. And I had lost friends in the process.

    11. The Origin of love, are you in love? Of what? whom?

    Not your business

    12. Do you ever thought about writing a musical for a film or theatre? I think it would be spectacular for the magic of your songs and your sense of the theatre

I would love to make a show, but it will took me at least 5 years to do it

    13. Did you enjoy your show at La Coruña this summer? Because it was amazing and you transmited a lot of energy

It was one of the greatest moments on my career. I didn’t expected that bunch of people singing my songs. It was at the same time that I was finishing the album and that energy, especially for its warmth, it was what I needed desperately and one of the reasons why I am promoting this album now.

    14. I loved your first album, the second not very much. Before I’ll buy this one ( I am one of those who still buy records) I will listen to it on Spotify in case I don’t like it. This album is closer from the first one or the second?

To the first one. In intentionality and freedom.

    15. Hi Mika! I think you’re a man with a spectacular voice and I love your music. I wanna know what do you think about the spanish music. Do you know bands or singers? Greetings from my daughter Vega who is one of your biggest fans

    Raphael

    16. Hi Mika. A song from the history of music that you’ll like to cover? Anyone. Thanks

“Nature boy”, one of the bests songs ever written

    17. Hi Mika. How many times have you been in Spain in your life? I was at your gig in El Palacio de Deportes, Madrid, in 2010. I wish I could see you again live. Kisses

I had come a lot to Spain. My first concert was in Ibiza, at 5 in the morning, in Manumission. There were 10 people naked, 2 dwarfs, a dealer (I think he means the one who sales drugs, not a real camel) and my mother. Two years later, I did one at the Bar M in Ibiza, where we sold out and my team was surprised that the audience was Spanish mostly. That made me laugh.

    18. Hi… I am a fan who have bought this third album and I saw you at a gig in Madrid a while ago. To come out of the closet have been bad for your career?

No, not at all. My music is my music. I am my music and I have never pretended to be something different of what I am. It wasn’t a surprise for most of my fans, but it was important for me to do it in a time of my life when I feel happy and I have confidence. I did it in the right time for me.

    19. Do you have planned a Spanish tour? Thank you.

Yes, I will be in Madrid and Barcelona in November

    20. Mika!! I admire your work and the way you compose!! What advice you will give to a young musician to go on in this hard world of music?

There are lots of ways to be a musician. Don’t get blind for what it can be a fast success from tv shows, sometimes is unreal, an illusion. It’s alright to be waiting till you have your chance and enjoy that moment, knowing you are prepared. He has to realize that he will have more fails than success. Success doesn’t come without fails. It’s alright, you have to recognize your limitations and if you know there are people more talented than you try to win in originality.

    Goodbyes

I have to go quickly to the rehearsal of a tv show. My album is out now in Spain. If you buy it now it will be hot, it has just came out of the oven, and it will taste delicious. Hahahahaha. I made this record with a lot of love, very freely and even more madness

  8. Thank you!! You all can queue and we´ll be right back to sign some autographs :aah: :aah:

Nah, for me it´s a pleasure. I love to read the translations of the interviews done in foreign languages, so I think it´s our obligation to help others when it´s in Spanish.

:aah: :aah: and the same for me, I love doing it

Aha! Well then thanks Marian and thank you in advance!!:aah:

    your welcome :huglove:
