Actually I think it's wrong to blame people because they don't send in doodles. The Mika team said it was a doodle competition, yes, but they also said that you didn't have to send in a doodle if you didn't want to, a painting or something else was just as fine. And when they almost only picked none doodles, then ofc people are not going to draw doodles since there's no chance to win with a doodle if the other have drawn amazing drawings!

 

 

 

 

If I remember right she actually complained to Mika that she hadn't got the prize, but I don't know if she got it later

I'm not sure but I think I had seen a Polish girl tweeting a picture of her & the doodle... I think she got it but far later than planned

If I come by train which station do I have to take? Is it Liège Guillemins-Jonfosse or Palais? I've always been to Liège by car so when I looked for trains I saw that ther were 3 different ones.

Guillemins or Palais (downtown)

You can take the bus 1 to Coronmeuse in front of the Guillemins station or on a square behind the town hall (10' walk from Palais).

If you needn't go downtown, just stop at Guillemins However, if you taste waffles or drink péket (jenever), rush downtown

Don't go to Jonfosse, it isn't very welcoming and there are often weird people wandering there. I always avoid this station

I stayed in the Ramada Plaza hotel in 2011. I don't remember anymore what I paid, but it was not that expensive. And it is at walking distance from the venue.

Liège isn't an expensive town But I'm used to Youth Hostel 'cause I usually travel on my own.

Yep I used to go there on foot from Quai St Leornard I'd say...30' from the festival (on foot) (I usually walk quite fast though ^^')

There's a supermarket a few streets from there if you ever need anything. Bus 1 from the city center to get to "Quai St Leonard", same bus to go to Coronmeuse (next to the festival).

Has anyone booked hotels near the venue?

The festival isn't really held downtown but you can easily find buses to get there from the station/market place

I know the neighbourhood quite well 'cause my grandma lives not far from there The nearest hotel is this one but it's quite pricey : http://www.ramadaplaza-liege.com/ There're a few hostels downtown as well *much cheaper* I also think that there'll be a camping area but I have no idea where it will be. I can ask some friends if you need more information about it

That album was selling like gangbusters right out of the gate and his been selling non stop ever since. I don't know what's going on in Belgium but Adele has been a household name in the US for years, just like Lady Gaga. If they are using her songs on TV I'm guessing the shows are trying to capitalize on her extraordinary popularity and not the other way around. Last year at this time she appeared on an extremely high profile 45 year old news show in the US (60 Minutes) that is more often interviewing heads of state than pop singers. Again she didn't even leave her house. Anderson Cooper flew to England to interview her in her mansion.

 

Everyone is so desperate for real music that Adele is sucking up more attention and awards and record sales than most of these other artists put together. I think her only competition at the moment is Taylor Swift but considering their album releases are 2 years apart it's not much of a comparison yet.

For a few months, I listened over & over again to "Rolling in the Deep" and then, I realized she also sung a few other songs I liked. I usually don't discover music thanks to the radio but thanks to gigs reviews, friends, festivals & youtube

I don't think Lady Gaga's numbers are indicative of any trend other than the trend for artists to make crap music.

 

Adele is selling her 2 year old album by the millions and the woman hasn't even left her house in a year.

But you can also hear Adele's songs in MANY movies/Tv shows/ads I knew half of her songs before buying the CD but I didn't know she was the one singing them

He definitely played Fuji Rock in 2007. I'm sure Japanese fans would rather see him on a proper tour though. If I recall Fuji Rock is expensive, remote and really all festivals are crap for fans of a particular artist.

Going to the Fuji Rock doesn't mean he can't do proper gigs in Japan, he can do both I was talking about the Fuji Rock because the SONIC festival has already its line up so I doubt Mika could go there :')

But yeah, festival are always crap when you really like an artist, you're surrounded by people talking & eating who don't give a sh*t about what's going on on stage... but that's better than nothing - as long as nothing else is planned, I mean.

I had to stand through Kate Nash ruining my ear drums, then had to fight with emo girls, when I thought all was done, I had to fight with Mika fans who tried to push their asses in front of me, while it was raining. Mika was good though, but apart from that, it was horrible.

Yes, that's what happened in Brussels ^^ Most people had NEVER seen this venue with a standing area. But... personnally, I don't like seating gigs :'/ You haven't got enough space to dance

I could watch videos of THAT performance of LYWID over and over again... For me, it is the best one ever X) It was sooo fun and everyone was really into it ! I just feel like getting up and dancing everytime I hear it... Definitely one of my best memories of this year
