Lena, I think you are worrying unnessarily. Once a song has been sung, it's going to get covered. I actually think it is a great tribute to Mika's work, that a piano cover has appeared so quickly. He did write that he did it in response to the Elle Me Dit piano cover that appeared a few days ago.
I actually think the pianist did a lovely job, but if Mika doesn't like it he can have it removed. But it's not going to make any difference to Mika's final version, and I don't think he will mind a bit. I could be wrong of course, but I don't think he will object to the cover or feel that the tune has been stolen from him.
Totally agree with you. Although I don't like how this guy played some parts of the song I don't think that he had some wrong or evil intentions. He just played the simple, stripped melody, and I think he actually did Mika a favor, because we can hear how beautiful the melody is.
And I'm sooo sure that this little piano cover is not going to influence Mika at all.

This is such a beautiful melody. It's not cheezy, it's romantic and wonderful. I think that people are afraid of love and romance due to slipping into something yucky, but I was listening to this song sooo many times these days and I realize that it's pure, honest and strong. And it will just be better when we hear the arrangement that he is going to pick up for the recorded version, with all the layers that he is quite capable of adding to a song. I love it! And won't change my mind anymore! Blame it on the weather:aah:

The song has potential, but I hope he finds another singer who 'gels' with him better vocally (etc!) - the restrained operatic voice is not what's needed here, it needs a more raw emotional style and sound.
I hope he also changes the title of the song because it's really not very inspiring as it stands....
Will be interesting to see how this song pans out in the end...

That bloke's sound is Swedish electro-pop. More the Yelle type of electronic sound, except that it is catchy.

care that the lyrics are cheesy, the melody is weak, and that he's singing
out of tune at several points in this performance.

Maybe that's the reason for cheesiness, and a weak melody. It sounds a bit 80's eurovision or something to me. It's sweet, but is that all?
I just hope he isn't slipping into something like that and that these new songs are just in a working process. I don't hate them, I just think he can do them better. -

When I first saw this video I thought she looks like she is going to bite him!
But it's just a bad light at that moment. They're just friends, but here they're performing ( like actors) that song and it's a love song
It doesn't look like acting to me:naughty:, sorry.
And what I looove about this video is how you can see the way he controls everything on the stage. He looks like a conductor. He even shows Ida at the end with his little finger to go away.

Alright, maybe the lyrics are cheesy , and it's out of tune, blah blah blah , but for a second , if you forget about the song and concentrate on the video then
The reason I actually liked it was at some places, when mika and ida stare into each others eyes , they look so much in love!

I tend to agree with you here. Moreover, they sound a bit out of date, like I've been listening some old good duet from Eurovision songs back then:dunno: I only love the part when Mika sings low terza to her main mellody. Lyrics not bad though, pretty romantic.
The collaboration with Imogene ("By the Time") was something for my taste and I'm so sorry he has never performed it with her live.
