  1. yes, if we want to queue to be in the first rows, we shouldn't choose sites which don't provide shipping... (like I did for the Rome show too, I was just lucky as they opened early) but if they put tickets on presale, there is the rush to have tickets right away they go on sale  :mf_rosetinted:

I don't understand why many events don't have the print at home option, it would be so much easier!

I agree, and I'm actually glad there weren't any presales for this spring's concerts, because I was able to get all the tickets I wanted just fine without them. I think presales (at least the way they were done in the autumn) can create a false sense of urgency, so you buy the tickets without exploring other ticket providers first, even though they probably won't really sell out that quickly anyway.

  2. I know, but I don't think it depends by Seetickets , but what time the venue opens the box office... in Rome we were lucky because they opened at about 4 PM, but sometimes they open late so it's really stressful if we have queued and want to be in front of the stage

Yeah, that's true. But the problem was also that for that gig (Zuerich) seetickets didn't offer any other options than box office collection. If I could have had them printed at home or mailed, I would have chosen that option at the time. So I still decided I would never use seetickets again if I could avoid it. :P (Except maybe for seated gigs.)

  3. Hi!;

I bought my tickets through seetickets  ( :cheer: ) and  I see that they still have some Upper Circle places, in case someone's still searching for tickets.

....But at the same time,I was wondering, does anybody has used seetickets in the past? I chose box office collection, and don't want to find my self in Lndn (I'm coming from Brussels) with non-existing tickets!!  It's kind of scary to not have actually the "thing" in your hands when planning a trip about it..

ps: I'm soooooo much looking foward to this gig and hopefully some sort of mfc get-together!

I'm sure you'll get your ticket just fine.  :thumb_yello: I did have a bad experience with seetickets and box office collection once, but that was because the tickets were for a standing area and they only started to give them out when the doors opened. This meant that people who already had their tickets were able to get in sooner and therefore get much closer to the stage than those of us who got them at the venue. However, since Palladium is a seated gig, it really doesn't matter at what time you get your ticket, since you have a guaranteed place either way.  :)

  4. I think that rather illustrates his negative opinion about British culture and how it affects his work, even if he sees it as changing now. And again, he is directly contrasting the good qualities of the French (they are culturally curious) with the negative qualities of the Brits (irreverent, mean, destructive opinions). I am not saying Mika hates the Brits or something, just that he is very sensitive to being rejected by the music industry (and perhaps his former fans) in the UK. I think he could handle the "mean" opinions in the early days because his album was #1 for weeks so it was a real f-you to his critics. Now it feels like a low blow. And I guess it upsets him that some of the British fans he has left are actually typical Brits (who do not listen to French pop music and don't want to) and are not living in his French/Italian/Lebanese/American bubble.

I think this may be the crux of the matter and sort of a vicious circle: Mika feels (at least on some level) rejected by the UK and much more warmly embraced by France (plus some other countries). This has led to him embracing the French part of his identity even more. Unfortunately, the UK fans in turn feel rejected by him and want "the British Mika" back, while he seems to think along the lines of "if you want me, you have to accept all of me, even the French part, because this is who I am". So he sings a French song in London and when someone expresses disapproval, he doesn't see this just a criticism of his setlist, but as a rejection of him personally. At least that's my opinion on why he reacted so strongly to something seemingly insignificant.

  5. A lot has already been said on this issue, and I can sort of see both sides of it. I just wanted to add that before Mika tells the whole story (or his side of it) in the interview, he says that this just shows you should never judge too quickly. I took this to mean that he later realized he had read too much into the comment he heard during the show. Yes, he then proceeds to describe how hurt he felt, but the whole point is that the flags made him realize he had misjudged the situation. I'm not saying he has handled the whole thing in the best way (I also thought the "boum boum boum" comment during a concert was inappropriate), but I wouldn't say he's portraying himself as a a victim after all these months so much as reminding himself that he wasn't actually a victim of intolerance as he had thought in that first moment.

  6. Didn´t he tell a Story about his hearing gets worse when he eats salt? I couldn´t find facts about it at that time a few years ago but he believes it is true.

Restricting salt can help when you have Meniere's disease (disorder of the inner ear). I don't know if Mika has ever said that he has this specific disease, but he has mentioned a disease that made him lose some of his hearing a few years ago, so it could fit.

  7. Hi!

My name is Kristina and I come from Slovenia. 32 years old.

I have heard of Mika when he started but didn´t listened him at the time. That changed 3 or 4 years ago when I heard his song performed by our singer in X factor or something (he did a good job  :thumb_yello: ).

After that I become Mika fan  :naughty:

I wanted to go on gig in Austria few years ago but... Since than I´ve been waiting for gig near my country....AND Trieste here I come ;)

I hope to meet some new friends here  :bye:

Hi Kristina! Dobrodošla!  :welcomeani:  I'm from Slovenia too, and it's really nice to see more Mika fans from our country. :) I hope you have fun here. I'll definitely see you in Trieste!

  8. Thanks for your comment. i agree completely with what you are saying about the original intent of the song. The positive message I meant is not in the song ((I quite like the song actually) but is in the video. To me it seems that the song has completely disappeared to the background in it.

As I said in a former post I admit that there is also (stylized) pain and anger in the video. But the general outcome is a positive one and Mika as "guardian angel" is not a real person but a symbol spreading happiness and love. My critic is also that most things are so shiny and fashionable in the video. The children are beautiful, clothing and images are filmed to impress instead of to tell a story. To be fair, that's probably the doing of the director of the movie that the song is used for. But It's Mika's video, so I suppose he happily agreed to do it that way.

When I heard the intro and saw the video it reminded me of Smalltown boy of Bronsky Beat. It's kind of the same subject but in that video I can relate to the emotions and feel sympathy for the characters. The awkward relationship between a homosexual young boy and his parents is very moving and his shy admiration for a handsome guy (that beats the boy up after noticing his longing looks) is heartbreaking. Those are the things I am missing in this video. There's too much message and too little reality.

Thanks for explaining your reaction to the video in more detail. I know it's often difficult to put these feelings into words, but you've managed it very well, and now I can definitely understand your point of view. :) I guess it just goes to show how subjective art is and how different people's reactions to it can be. Hopefully you'll find Mika's next project more inspiring again!  :flowers2:

  9. i don't want to diminish the important message or the hurt that people have that are being mistreated or bullied. Like I said I hope that the video will help the discussion. i know that this is a message that has to be heard by as many people as possible.

I was expressing my personal feelings about the video and Mika. Not attacking people that feel touched or supported by this song and images. And certainly not critizising Mika because he wants to try to make the world a happier place. But I admit I am critizising his way of doing it. Not because it's wrong but because it doesn't appeal to me (anymore).

I now realize that maybe it was not the right place here to express my feelings. It's a controversial subject and perhaps the discussion here should only be about that and not about my personal appreciation of the video. I support the message fully by the way.

I think you have every right to express your personal feelings about the video, and they're certainly not any less valid than anyone else's, including mine. :) But I have to admit that I'm surprised you find the video too positive, mostly because I don't find the song itself very positive at all. Sure, the video has an uplifting message (which ties in with the movie, so it's not all Mika's doing), and the remix version of the song is more bouncy than the original, but I find the lyrics very sad and full of hurt, disappointment and even bitterness. So, to me the contrast between the sad lyrics and the bouncy tune is classic Mika. I think it goes well with the video, which is about a painful subject, even if it does offer a positive resolution.

I do also believe that Mika's original intent when he wrote the song wasn't for it to be an anti-bullying message, but a song about a breakup/argument between lovers (he even described it as a love song in an interview). It doesn't sound like it was written from a happy place at all. But when he was approached about the song being in the movie, I think he saw the lyrics fit well there too, and the message was definitely something he could get behind, so he was happy for the song to be interpreted that way and become meaningful for more people.

  10. Okay in Mika's song celebrate He says "I remembered those two letters, It will be okay" and later he says, "I remembered those three letters, It will be okay" What does it mean????!!!!! Im dying to know. HELP? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I think he only says "those two letters", not "those three letters" (unless I'm mishearing things, which wouldn't be the first time  :wink2:). Anyway, I think he's referring to the letters O and K in the word OK. I actually think Pharrell Williams wrote that line, because I seem to remember Mika saying that this line is "very Pharrell".

  11. Hi, I have a doubt about box office collection, maybe it's a very very stupid question but I try: :)

If I check on London Palladium page on Ticketmaster, it says that Box Office is open from Monday to Saturday, and that Box Office collection is possible during the hour before the show... does it mean also for shows on SUNDAY, right? ;) or do I have to come to London on Saturday to collect it? It would be a bit absurd

I bought my ticket from gigsandtours, and their e-mail says, "Your tickets will be available for collection at the venue on the day of the event." So I'm sure you'll be able to get the ticket on Sunday before the show.  :thumb_yello: And like Mellody said, it was like that at the Adelphi last year too.

  12.

First of all, how to reach the venue: the easiest way is by car, motorway A4, exit "Padova Ovest".

If you arrive by plane (Venice and Treviso are the nearest airports) you have to come to Padova first, and then catch the bus, or a taxi, to Piazzola sul Brenta.
The bus to PSB leaves from the bus terminal integrated to the railway station, so the same instructions are valid also for people arriving by train and the trip is approx. 30 minute long.
(A note for French fans: you can easily reach Padova from Paris and Dijon by the night train “Thello”)
There are several ways to go from the airports to Padova, the cheapest one is by bus, but you can consider also the bus-shuttle Airservice.
    The costs are:
    VENICE-PADOVA
    BUS: 8,50 (including one suitcase)
    SHUTTLE "Airservice": 33,00 €
    SHUTTLE "Landomas": 30,00 €
    PADOVA-PIAZZOLA SUL BRENTA:
    BUS: 3,70 €
    VENICE-PIAZZOLA SUL BRENTA:
    SHUTTLE "Airservice": 60,00 €
    SHUTTLE "Landomas": 60,00 €

    TREVISO-PADOVA
    BUS: 6,00 (luggage NOT included)
    SHUTTLE "Airservice": 40,00 €
    SHUTTLE "Landomas": 40,00 €
    PADOVA-PIAZZOLA SUL BRENTA:
    BUS: € 3,70
    TREVISO-PIAZZOLA SUL BRENTA:
    SHUTTLE "Airservice": 62,00 €
    SHUTTLE "Landomas": 65,00 €

The shuttle must be booked in advance (usually they ask also the flight code and arrival time), the fare becomes a little cheaper the more people you book and if you book at the same time the trip back to the airport and it will take you to your hotel directly.

Bus tickets are available at newspaper kiosks, tobacconists and on board (at a higher price, though)

I have sent and e-mail to the local taxi company in order to know if you can book a car in advance, because there's no way to go back to Padova by bus after the night.
They don't accept advanced bookings, and the fare is 50,00 € approximately from PSB to the railway station.

Thank you for all the information, I'm sure it will be very useful! This will probably be the closest Mika gig to my hometown (even though it's still in a different country  :P), so I really don't want to miss it.

  13. The place is at about 20 km from Padova. You can reach it by bus during the day, the problem is how to come back in the night because as far as I remember there are no hotels there. I'll let you know something more in the next days after a proper check

Ok thanks. :flowers2: Good to know that there's a bus during the day. For the night, i'm sure there'll be other mfcers with a space in the car to the nearest city with a hotel - or i could take a taxi. Might come by car anyway, but it's good to know which options i have. :thumb_yello:

Thanks for the info about buses.  :thumb_yello: I don't know if there are any actual hotels in the village, but there definitely seem to be some accomodation options there too (B&B and agritourism).

  14. Eriko, thanks for setting this thread up and keeping it updated -- as someone else said, it's hard to keep up with all the various social media they are using! :naughty:

One thing Mika's team has asked -- as we promote this we should use this link: http://rfg.ee/VHTx2

It redirects to the donation page about Mika on the UNHCR site. (I changed the link in the first post of this thread, but if you see it anywhere else, please use the link I've given instead.)

I've also been thinking about how we as the MFC can help with this effort.

With our anniversary coming it, it might be a good time to auction off a prize and donate the proceeds. :thumb_yello:

I have a couple prizes that might generate some interest here, and Mika's team have said they would be willing to give us something to auction off, as well.

For those of you who have been around MFC for a long time, you may remember how we auctioned off a few things for charity around the MFC's 5th anniversary to support London Air Ambulance. I'm thinking we may do something similar this time around -- perhaps instead of a straight auction we ask people to make a donation to be eligible for a chance to win the prize. I have to go back and review how we handled everything back then to refresh my memory, but I think this is something I'd like to do, if the rest of you are up for it, too. :original:

I think making donations to have a chance to win a prize is a great idea, I'd definitely be up for it.  :thumb_yello:

The link in this post doesn't go to Mika's page at UNHCR for me, it just redirects me to their main page (while the one in the first post does link to his page).
