  1. Oh I really loved this concert. :lustslow: And I loved that the whole audience seemed to like it that much and Mika seemd quite happy about it. So good to see! Also I enjoyed it so much to have a concert in English again after years. It's just another connection for the non French speaking people, for me it was absolutely a different feeling than in the French concerts.

I'm so happy I didn't miss this concert. Also nice to know that he is aware of the long time he wasn't playing in Germany - 12 years!

If Eurovision is really the reason for this new awareness here (or what is?), then what a nice outcome of this Eurovision project. :original:

P.S.: Oh and I also loved to hear at least Jane Birkin! :lustslow:

A few can't make it to the meetup tonight, I've taken them off the list... if any of the "maybe's" are sure whether they can make it or not, plmk - I might need to adjust the booking if we end up just being 10 instead of 20.

Not sure if I counted as maybe or fix canditate, but I'm planning to come. Hope I find you at that place.

This is not really a fanaction, but just a welcome back message "Welcome back to Germany" and "We've missed you" - I printed 40 pages (20 of each message), but if anyone wants to print more or make their own version, feel free to do so. :)

For the beginning of the show (Bougez... but if we're all dancing too much and forget, we can still do it for the 2nd song, haha!).

    here's the PDF I made:  Mika-Germany.pdf 10.44 kB · 12 downloads

    See you all sooon! :excite:

I printed one sign and some German flag hearts too already at home and have some blank sheets and edding with me here in the hotel to write another one or two.

We could hold them up in the beginning, but then dance and then show them again at the end of the song, Mika might have more possibilities to read that at the end of the song or the beginning of the 2nd anyway?

my friend and i got one not quite close😢 we were looking for cheaper options since we're not from the country

I also booked close to the venue, but noticed meanwhile that it's quite easy and fast to go through the city by train/underground. At least in zones A+B. So don't worry, the next train station is VERY close to the venue ("Anhalter Bahnhof", S1, S2 (also S25+26)) and from there it's easy to go everywhere.

When the show was announced for Huxleys, I immediately bought 2 tickets for the show and after checking out hotels online, I decided for the ibis Budget Potsdamer Platz; and we our extremely lucky, because it's literally one street from Tempodrom (like a 5 minute walk), so when the new venue was announced I was thrilled. I took this photo today, on the 2nd day of our 5-day-holiday in Berlin and I'm beyond excited for the show 🤩 and the hotel's just great, we are satisfied with the room, with the breakfast, it's literally in the middle of the city and the price's reasonable as well

I'm also enjoying a 5-day Berlin trip around this concert🥰 , now also on day two. We are lucky with the weather at the moment, but on Tuesday it could get a little wet, in the afternoon/evening of all times!

As for the meetup, apparently there are no restaurants / bars directly around the venue, so we'll probably be going in the direction of Checkpoint Charlie, there's a lot in that area and it's not too far away. Also it seems to be harder than I thought to find a place that is kind of a mix between restaurant and bar - so maybe we'll make 2 reservations in places close to each other, one for dinner around 6-7pm and one for drinks later. Or maybe just for drinks, as some of you said that they will probably only arrive later. Just wondering, of those who said they want to join the meetup, who would definitely want to join for dinner already at ca. 6/7pm (and any preferences as to what kind of food)?

If reservation for dinner, I personally would prefer 7 pm (or later), because I'll be visiting the city the whole day and probably won't be done with it before 7pm.

Or only the bar a little later, like from 8 pm or so... But that's just my situation. :dunno:

Preferences for food... just nothing too special... Pizza is always an easy option for example.

I had a similar idea, but not with individual letters, just A4 sheets with messages like "welcome back to Germany" or "we've missed you ❤️", and not too many - I think it makes more sense like that, easier to organize, and I suppose for the French/Italian fans who are coming, this doesn't have much meaning.

Anyway, I've opened an extra thread for fanactions, we can discuss it there:

Yes, one message per sheet is definitely easier to organize, that's right. I was just worried that it wouldn't be big enough to read from stage. Therefore the 1 letter/1 sheet idea, which would have been around 40 sheets maybe. But of course not so easy to coordinate, sure.

Is it readable in small? I have no idea.

But like this everyone has the chance to write their own personal message/greeting on the sheet, that's nice, too.

Sure, the fans who are not from Germany won't be interested in that much, no problem, but as a German fan it's something that I would be nice to say.

For just being in the front area (and not necessarily frontrow) I *think* it should be enough to be there maybe 2-3 hours before the doors open. But I'm really unsure about this gig, as he hasn't been in Germany for so long and I don't know where people are coming from for this gig. I can tell you that at the first Berlin gig I saw of Mika, in autumn 2007, there was no queue at all an hour before the doors opened - I already thought I was in the wrong place! :lol3: While on the same tour in Munich and Frankfurt people have started queueing at 3 or 4pm. And in London it was already early morning queueing. So I would think that Germany is more relaxed with queueing than other places. Also in 2010 and 2012 it was just a few superfans queueing all day, it never was as bad here as in France or Italy - Germans are too impatient to queue for long. :naughty: Now we have 39 fans on the RSVP list here, which I suppose would be the first row and the center area of the 2nd row (tho probably not all of them want to queue for ages), and I don't know how many more are coming from other countries, like Poland, Czechia etc., and how early they would be queueing. So I really have no idea what time you'd need to be there for frontrow center, but as I said, front area should be relaxed. (Of course I also have no idea what the entrance at the Tempodrom is like - at some venues it doesn't matter when you arrive, when the doors open everything gets mixed up and it's a lottery)

As a reminder to everyone, no bags are allowed that are bigger than an A4 sheet - and they are strict about that! You'd have to throw away your bag if you want to get in fast and have no time to bring it back to your hotel / car.

Thank you, mellody, for your long repy!

I had the same unsure feeling about the best time, but also wanted to plan my several days Berlin transport ticket according to this...   That's why I wanted to ask the more experienced queuers.  I had the same in mind, something between 3 or 2 hours before...

I had another thought. Just an idea and not sure if it's a stupid one. I thought, could we make signs, the very easy way, big letters printed on paper, one or two letters per sheet, a greeting for Mika, like this:

    WELCOME BACK  and/or

WE MISSED YOU  or GERMANY MISSED YOU (shortly after the beginning of the concert) and maybe a SEE YOU IN BONN! at the end.

But not quite sure if it can be organized. I am not even sure I make it far enough into the front for that (though I hope, but ...).

I don't know, I just have that image in my head how it would look and that it would be a sweet greeting maybe... Just wanted to share the thought.

If it's not a good idea, that's no problem.

I also read that fan action guideline subject and that might be a problem, too, although it would not be so much paper, just some sheets that we could try to smuggle in.

  8. Just found two articles talking about this KUNSTRASEN announcement. I hope it's allowed to put the links here?

    https://www.aachener-zeitung.de/kultur/auch-larkin-poe-rival-sons-und-mika-rocken-auf-dem-bonner-kunstrasen/9221898.html

    --> Translation by Google:

"The artificial turf [=KUNSTRASEN] fans can also look forward to a young man who is causing a sensation under the name Mika. Five singles from his first two albums, “Life in Cartoon Motion” and “The Boy Who Knew Too Much,” reached the top 10 of the charts in his adopted home of England, among others. The albums themselves climbed into the top ten all over Europe, including in Germany, and formed the basis for more than 15 million albums sold to date. Timelessly beautiful pop music guarantees an entertaining, challenging evening on Bonn's artificial turf on July 29th."

This second one I like, quite a lot quite nice words about Mika. :original:

    https://www.koelner.de/musik-party/konzerte/kunst-rasen-saison-2024/

    --> Translation by Google:

"In 2007, the whole of Europe immediately fell in love with the relaxed and curly young man named Mika, as soon as his debut single “Grace Kelly” was released. For a brief moment, one could have mistaken his curious fusion of noble, complex pop music with subtle humor, the grand gestures of a circus performance and a feel for calculated breaks as a coincidence. He countered this initial skepticism in the best possible way: with further fantastic successes. Five singles from his first two albums “Life in Cartoon Motion” and “The Boy Who Knew Too Much” alone reached the top 10 of the charts in his adopted home of England; The albums themselves climbed into the top ten all over Europe, including Germany, and form the basis for more than 15 million albums sold to date. And rightly so, because Michael Holbrook Penniman aka Mika is a passionate wanderer between opposing worlds. Born in Lebanon, he fled the civil war with his family as a baby to start a new life, first in Paris and a few years later in London. Here, too, it wasn't easy for the slight guy with long curls: dyslexia and a learning disability, as well as coming out as bisexual, made him the laughing stock of the class at school. What always remained to him as refuge, meditation and medicine was music; Initially in the serious field of classical music and opera, from 2006 mainly as a self-determined, subtle and clever acting clown between pop, art and thrilling performances. Over the course of his career, Mika created his own world full of dark romanticism amidst the joy and playfulness of colorful alternative pop. He's a Renaissance artist with expansive, ever-compelling ideas whose name has found his way alongside legendary acts like Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Prince. In addition to his always wonderfully original music, Mika also won the hearts of TV audiences across Europe by appearing as a judge on “X Factor Italy” and as a coach on “The Voice France” and by having his own TV variety show “ “Stasera Casa Mika” started, which won the Rose d'Or in 2017."

  9. Near the venue sounds good, obviously. :original:

Google Maps shows some, but seems little harder to find a restaurant which is open on that Monday evening. Just across the street from Tempodrom is one, but closed on Mondays, only the bar open every day (though also Easter Monday??). Solar bar/restaurant sounded interesting because of a nice view over the city from the bar, but also closed Easter Monday.

I wanted to ask anyway, who would be up for a meetup the evening before the gig? Depending on how many would be interested, we could meet for dinner, or have an actual MFC party. @Statue_of_Liberty lives in Berlin, so I'm sure she could help us to find a suitable place.

Are you guys meeting up in Berlin, is that decided yet or going into some direction (dinner/party, place and time)? I'll be there some days before, so would think about coming, too - but not sure if I would go far through Berlin at night on my own... So I would need more info to check and decide. Therefore I am curious, sorry.

  11. OMG what's going on?? Not only Berlin, but two more German dates?

Both are quite close, so I'll be going :lustslow:

But I'm a little confused and impatient about that front of stage category thing ... I'd like to go there if somehow affordable, but when will they fix that? I wanna get my ticket fast now ...

And I still didn't understand, is it the same as the VIP-option in Schwetzingen? Or is it a third kind of ticket category?

100€ plus just for parking and non queing, food and drinks I would not be interested and could go and get my standard ticket right away. But front of stage for a bit more, I'd want

We will probably not find out before Monday, will we? Can one risk waiting till Monday? Oh, I'm exited!

  12. I will be going, too :lustslow::boing: And it makes me come back writing here (like once in two years or so, sorry).

Literally any date in the Netherlands or Belgium is closer to where I live in Germany, but being German, you can’t miss his Germany comeback concert, can you? Extremely pumped 💃🏼❤️

    So true.

I also at first thought "nooo...you won't travel through almost whole Germany. France is fine, Luxemburg is fine..." Berlin is not Verona, of course, but the trip feels like it kind of... But as you say, as a German fan, you just can't miss it. It didn't take me long to realize that I can't resist. :D So, a short Easter Berlin trip it is, haha! Still need to make my hotel decision now...

I just revived my account here :D It has been quite a while for me, but I'm really excited for a Mika concert in Germany. My last time has been December 2019 in Paris (and before this November (?) 2012).

Yavanna :bye:, so nice to meet/read you again! We talked a little quite a while back in DMFC, you might not remember. You are the one who brought me to Doctor Who and I will never forget that perfect advice! Hope you are fine!

  13. Hi there,

first of all I also want to say thank you @dcdeb for the translations and summary here. :thumb_yello:

I managed to request my refund for the Verona theatre show to this afternoon (TicketOne) and in their confirmation mail they announce to reimburse the complete ticket value including the presale fee, but without the service costs that they took. Not sure though what they will really give back in the end, that's just the value that their mail shows.

We could meet up for a party in Verona the night before the gig (the night when normally the theatre gig would've happened), maybe some fans would be interested in that?

    16 hours ago, holdingyourdrink said:

Maybe we can meet in the garden (Giardini Vittorio Emanuele II) that is between the Arena and the theater for a big picknick. There are enough restaurants near to get food and drinks I think. This way it’s open for everyone and we don’t need to worry about a restaurant that can hold an X amount of people. How about that? I will definitely join!

I really like this idea, meeting in the evening of the "first concert", in the park. I'd like to come there too, though I don't really know anyone here, as you might notice, I'm not really an active member, and I'm also a little shy in "real life", but I'd like to meet some of you guys in Verona. Although there is still the Arena di Verona concert left, which I really look forward to, the evening of 18th September does indeed feel quite empty now. Especially when travelling alone. It's really disappointing.

I don't want to miss the opportunity to visit Verona , so I'll be there too

Now that I've got 2 days "off" before the remaining show , I'm thinking about visiting Venice or (and?)  Breshia , eventualy having a bath on the lake if the weather is good enough

    If anyone is interrested .....

Hi carafon, I also wanted to visit, apart from Verona, maybe one or two other places, I wanted to go to Lago di Garda for one day or half a day and also thought about Brescia or Padua or Mantua. I'm not so much interested in Venice though... But I would be interested in not going alone here or there.
